The vast majority of their sub base would be people in the 10-15 demgraphic, aka people who would be entirely unaware the drama even exists.

This thread is turning into the enter sphere again tbh. Youtube drama is just cancer and makes people here start stimming.

I don't think they really have any fanboys.
Maybe I have the wrong idea about their audience, but I believe it's pretty much the normiest lowest common denominator type people.
Middle aged people and old people, and teen girls, and bored office workers, and your mom, and the like.
These aren't the people who give a shit the legal infrastructure of youtube so long as pewdiepie and smosh keep shitting out a daily giggle.
And it's certainly not a friend simulator type thing where there's some false emotional dependency as with Let's Play fanbases.

I'm also hesitant to characterize a drop in tens of thousands of subs amongst six gorillion subs as any sort of effective backlash.

It's actually kinda refreshing to see someone say "They helped me out before so I don't wanna shit on them but I can see what they're doing isn't kosher." It's a nice change from the usual mentality of jumping on the bandwagon to chuck someone under the bus or even the usual 'no comment' shit, note none of the youtubers from 'Youtubers react' are exactly rushing to their aid right now.
