first time playing skyrim, need some advice

I'd stick to QoL mods first playthrough. There's a lot of new lands, quests, followers etc mods but they range from okay to poor.

Aside from others that proper mentioned like graphics mods and community patches, I'd recommend the Dragon Soul to Perk one. There's around 250 perks but you get one a level, and assuming you play to the fullest the soft cap is around 70.

And this is a me thing, but it chaps my ass vanilla doesn't let you craft lockpicks even though they're plentiful.

I'd say to start out with lots of mods to play the base game and prune them back to play the narrative/new land mods like pathway to elsywyr and stuff because that tends to break mods in my experience. It's not that it's a bad game or anything, just that mods don't really change the game as much as you might like. Once you're sick of Skyrim, 300 hours in or something, you stay sick of it. I'd especially recommend magic overhaul stuff because pure mage is poorly implemented.

I have probably 1,000+ hours in Skyrim across console and PC. I can tell you that the only mods you'll really NEED for your first time are the unofficial patches, maybe a graphical adjustment or too couldn't hurt.

This is just me but I would also say pick out a house mod that you like. Vanilla offerings are functional but that's about it.

Most new lands mods have not aged terribly well, unfortunately, same for quests. Immersive NPCs has some great questlines but a lot of shit ones, people say Legacy of the Dragonborn is good.

what is your favorite skyrim memory
Playing on the PS3 well after release. Putting 40ish hours into it and then my save file corrupting. I then restarted the game, put another 40ish hours into it, and the save file corrupting again.

The PC version has been great. I pick it up every once in a while, install minimal mods, and get lost in the world. There is always something I haven't explored yet or tried.

This is a tough question because there are so many versions of the game some mods are straight up broken under some versions of the game.

My recommendations:

-unofficial patch
-SkyUI
-Campsite Infinite (camp anywhere)
-Wearable lanterns
-Alternate start
-Footprints
-NPC bartering
-Lockable Doors
-Simple Knock
-Run for your lives (So NPCs dont get killed by dragons when youre not even in town)
-Open cities (this is a personal preference)

-skyrim fishing SE if youre into it.

I keep the game pretty pure beyond that.

When youre more comfortable with the game things like open world loot (completely revamps the progression system so enemies dont always scale with you, I find it annoying bandits have max level weapons in endgame), weapon/armour/attribute tweaks might interest you but don't worry for now.

Just play Morrowind (OpenMW) instead.

yeah i saw some video that there’s a way to concert SE mods to AE but im not particularly interested in AE until i beat the game or become invested enough to care about the lore
Skyrim AE IS Skyrim SE, if you are running patch 1.6 or newer its AE. AE the paid product is just creation club DLC. AE updates made changes to plugin FormIDs to allow more mods at once, but that means if the mod ends up using one of the new IDs you can't use it in a previous version without it or else it will crash.

Don't use USSEP it has a bunch of nonsensical changes that have no place in a patch, and Arthmoor is too much of a fag to admit it. Use this if you really truly have to use USSEP https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/72083
 
The most important thing is to buy a plot of land, then start building a house, then get a spouse and adopt some kids and live your life smithing and fishing and hunting and occassionally doing some dungeon raiding for a little spending money, like Talos intended. After that you can go kill lame dragons or do some gay ass civil war thing I guess, I never get that far.

I played this shitpile for like 20 hours like a retard before realizing, yeah, that's all it is. The good part is not coming, it doesn't exist.

Play The Forgotten City instead, it's an actually good game that started as a Skyrim mod.
 
I recommend playing it heavily modded, the appeal of Skyrim is the world.

Story is ass and gameplay is mid, but the landscape and music still hold up.

KCD 1 and 2 are pretty much Oblivion in a more historical setting, with vastly better writing and immersion.

If you want to be overkill you can use Undo Certain USSEP Changes alongside USSEP Changes Reversed and Tweaked. While each one fixes different bugs, the biggest difference between them is that the latter removes exploits while the former doesn't. Place Undo Certain USSEP Changes last on your load order to enable exploits.

The second mod was taken off Nexus by Arthmoor's pet jannies, it's why you have to download it from the Internet Archive.

Isn't Forgotten City a time loop puzzle game?
Yes, it started out as a Skyrim mod where you're stuck in a time loop until you save everyone. (I think? I never actually played it)

Make sure to used the dude in the cave as a practice dummy, you can level your attacks on him without repercussion.
 
Just play it vanilla if you want. Mods can be a bit of a pain in the ass. If you do decide to try mods you should start out simple. Don't be one of those people with 200 mods in your game. Especially since you are console fag. That shit is irritating as fuck for people on PC. I can't imagine a console peasant is going to like that dealing with that shit.

I played a little of it and it's ok. It's not as good as Morrowind though.

Since I was summoned I guess I'll give you some advice.

If you've never played Skyrim I'd suggest doing straight vanilla first and take notes on what you'd like to change. On your second playthrough you should start with a Wabbajack mod list because it only works on Mod Organizer 2. Do not use Vortex, it's trash. Unless you've modded other games and have good computer literacy skills I'd say avoid making your own modlist at first. Learning how to mod Skyrim and make it run properly takes a long time so just use a modlist that looks good. If you want reviews of modlists check out Dropper Ice Cream.

What are you PC specs? I'd suggest using a GPU with 12gb of VRAM and have 32gb of RAM. I have a Ryzen 5 5600 and a RX6600 and I can get 30-35 FPS in Falkreath and 45-50 in the plains of Whiterun and I'm hitting the 60FPS limit in almost every interior cell while running Pi-Cho with a bunch of settings cranked and too many 4k textures. Don't bother going over 60FPS because the physics engine is linked to your FPS so anything over 60FPS will cause problems. Use an ENB over Community Shaders. ENB looks better and is made by a based Russian autist while CS is made by trannies and looks like shit.
