With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

-The map and body cameras on each player are a great touch.
-No forced gay narrative to appease/shock the audience.
-Enough space to let characters naturally form up in groups and strategize
-Using LTE instead of WIFI
-Natural interaction without TTS/SFX from FT crew/audience constantly baiting contestants

I'm sure Ice will have the same issues with being lazy as Jet does, but this is a much better start than I expected.

There's just too much to keep up with. FishTank was difficult enough to keep up with individual arcs, but getting 50 people and spreading them out with terrible wifi is not a good idea if you want people to stay in the loop.

So far the only good thing has been the gps imo. While TTS can be annoying it's good during downtime to keep the audience engaged. There has to be an ideal goldilocks zone between no TTS and circumflex spam during key plot points.

One thing I have been enjoying is the war between IP2 and FishTank fans. It's like we all hate Jet, but the moment somebody outside of the FishTank fanbase tries to one up him and his production we all get defensive. "Only we're allowed to make fun of and criticize FishTank" type stuff.
 
I keep checking different contestants but always end up back to watching SlightlyHomeless. He's legit retarded, I don't know how he's made it thus far. He's been hiding all day and he has no weapon, no food (thanks to Letty lol) and nowhere to sleep. For some reason he's intent on not teaming up with anyone, despite the fact that he has nothing but his water bottle (which is almost empty) and no intention on fighting anyone. He's not a big dude, he's tall but skinny and clearly not a fighter. Other contestants have offered to team up with him but he said no. I believe he is the ONLY one going solo right now.

Chat is trying to help him find a loot drop but it's not going well since it's really dark. He's complaining that he's very hungry, thirsty, and tired, while walking around aimlessly in the dark. Keep in mind there is apparently a 50 ft drop somewhere that is hard to see in the dark. I think he's going to end up dead, maybe literally, before the night is over.

I'm more annoyed this makes the wiggers look professional by comparison than anything. There's ways to do this and make this work, at least half assedly instead of quarter assedly.
The vests should have been tested.
The cameras should have been tested.
If they intend to have night content have some half assed night vision cams at least or give them flashlights, bare minimum.
Everyones a glowing fucking billboard at night that says "I'M RIGHT HERE KILL ME"

Eddie gave icepiss a big check to run this shit and he has had months to prepare and put together a team to assure it runs smoothly ontop of having 2.5 as grounds to see how to actually run shit like this ontop of multiple delays.

Ice just fucking sucks at everything besides getting groups of degends together to actually provide content

Not sure why some of them are grayed out. It's frustrating that you can't zoom in enough to separate the pins when there's too many people in one spot.

Listening to iDuncle and he's super high strung and snapping at his team.
TTS: "Ice said you need to sleep in a tent or shed or else you'll be eaten alive by bugs. Also there's snakes." :story:
He gets pissed and starts yelling about how they'll get attacked by hunters or other players again if they sleep. I don't think it's occurred to them they can sleep in shifts.

Ice said people who are greyed out haven't moved for a while. People who are bright are actively moving around.

Neptunian is when things are all fucked up and aesthetic in weird ways juxtaposed against normality, but there is an overall sense of positivity and good. Goranian is the flip side of that coin where the same is true except the theme is negative and dark. Basically it's the difference between freindtank and hell house, but it’s a little more nuanced than that.

To add to this perfect explanation , there is also the addendum - an amplifier, an augmentation if you will: "Neptunian chemo", a term often used in pure sarcasm or slight ribbing at the attempt at creating "Neptunian Kino". The scene is still okay, but more funny/humorous than excellent due to its oftentimes forced nature. The worst one is Goranian Chemo, which is basically just a whole condemnation of the scene.

Did anyone die last night?

Edit: Seems like a lot of contestant's cameras are not up and running. The map is showing several contestants in the gulag and dead? How did they die?

SlightlyHomeless is somehow still in. He's up and streaming. Says he slept on maggots and spiders. Currently, he sees a wild boar and is worried that it might attack him. "I can climb this tree right here if he comes after me." Homeless is still having phone issues, says the battery pack Ice gave the contestants isn't holding and his phone keeps dying. This appears to be a problem for everyone and likely explains why so many of the phones are offline.

Homeless hasn't eaten in over 24 hours. Has a bit of water left. Still doesn't have a plan. Still wants to take out Letty. He's complaining about the gulag, I guess if you go there, you can somehow get your lives back and get back in the game? Homeless thinks it's unfair and says once you're out of the game you should stay out.
