I don't think Sam has any intention of "breaking into the mainstream" with any of his projects. In fact, I'm pretty sure he's trying to accomplish literally the opposite.

But I do agree that they could probably promote it better with some basic social media marketing techniques instead of striking down clip channels and restreams.

I agree a little bit with this. I'm not sure Sam wants to be mainstream, but maybe. A lot of his work seems like a cash grab to me. I stopped watching the streams on his main channel a while back because the microphone was never set properly and instead of taking 5 seconds to fix it they would beg for money - they being Sam, Nick, and Jet. Fishtank feels a lot like several simple things were phoned in and it's about making money as fast as possible. Fake polls, fake toys, fake chat polls meant to lead the audience to predetermined conclusions.
