With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

I feel like this is all leading up to a shart moment. Letty's talk about IBS yesterday and lactose iintolerance today was foreshadowing. Turns out the entire show was scripted just to lead to someone pooping their pants.

I honestly can't tell if this is a fakeout and none of this matters and there will be a real final challenge tomorrow, but it's really not a stretch of the imagination they could be this inept.
 

This is unrelated to anything, I'm not sure it was mentioned on stream even, but I saw someone in TTS chat (I don't normally have it open but it's open when I first open the website) said someone told him where Taxcin buys his clothes, I asked him where that was and he said it's Love America Online. Just in case that wasn't common knowledge.

@afternoon_tea @Aidan Jet asked Letty how she was doing, she said mostly just fine. True to her nature she asks Jet how he's doing, and he says he's doing great and that the show is a success and tells her the whole thing Sam told Vance about running the show twice a year in a new house and how she will be in Fishtank history as a finalist. He says he will take two weeks off and then immediately start on season two and that he anticipates making fishtank will be his job, for the future. She asks him about the death threats she's received over TTS and he says don't worry about them, they come from fat pussies who live in their mother's homes. She asks him for extra information about when bathroom tickets would be available etc.

They also have to do the loudest fart challenge. They aren't ready for that though so Jet said to let him know when they feel a fart coming so they can do that challenge.

The monkey challenge was very funny in my opinion. Chris brought in ice cream or something in a bucket and they were slinging it at each other.

Not adressing you specifically CoolFool but I'm tired of people constantly complaining about the show being boring. If it's so boring, why are you watching it still? This is a lot funnier than most things that get put on actual TV. Everyone's expectations are impossibly high. Just relax and enjoy the show.

I've seen lows and highs over the course of weeks, we're near the end so I'm in it until the end and was looking forward to more highs since it hyped up and we have two strong fish remaining, one of which hasn't been fucked with remotely as much as the other.
Tons of potential being wasted which is frustrating.

My thoughts about Letty:

Early on, after the first Cell challenge, Letty was talking to TTS and they were trying to get her to become "dark Letty", and she took up the mantle of being the piss warlock. It was, imo, the best character development in the show, or could have been. After that, production immediately turned against her. My thought is that they were trying to get her to "break," but not in a chimp out and leave fashion. Hassle tried to make her into his protege at one point. They wanted her to heel turn. Unfortunately, either she's too good of a person, or the production is too shit at hassling her for it to ever really happen. They wanted Big Boss, but she became Punished Snake.

At least, that's what I hope happened. Otherwise it seems like they actually just hate her.

Given Sam's record with women it seems like they were genuinely bullying her. I think Frank openly went in with the intention to get her to leave.

Where does it come from? I think she represents an archetype that Sam hates, whether that's warranted or not. To me, Letty was malicious when the game called for it and has some innocence in her personality, while Betty was borderline psychopathic and clearly had lost hers.

Any kiwi ever heard of Sosed TV?

Apparently, they had this show in Russia back in 2020. I can't find much info on it in English - perhaps the slavs of Internationale Clique can help. The concept, and the UI too, look just like Fishtank's.

Tuned out for nearly all of today because the challenges just felt so uninspired and boring. We need one last big thing and give Letty the 35k. Fishtank has run it's course.

My bad for doubleposting but I've been thinking, when they edit all the handheld camera footage together do you think they will leave all the Simmons shit in? Obviously they can't cut it all out since he was in some very important early episodes but I imagine it might be really akward or even a possible legal issue with Sam basically heavily implying they let a pedophile onto the show. I wonder how they will work around that. Really think about it. All of his personal info is out there and Sam is quoting shit that makes it seem like he wants to fuck kids. Sounds like a legal issue.

Imagine if they just added Simon in at the beginning and made it seem like he was Simmons the whole time.

But yeah, you're right they do have to be careful if they feature Simmons and it won't be that easy to cut him out. Not impossible though. Reality shows change up a lot in editing.

It's interesting, and if you watched it for a while I still want to hear how it pans out. It's not having too high of expectations to be disappointed that they didn't have anything planned and the challenges were mostly shit. It also gets old watching everyone pile on Letty and give Josie a pass.
 
You have to look at this last challenge as one long term endurance challenge, and not focus on each individual game.

And then it will be over and we get to watch the fallout and drama that will unfold when these weird freaks get back into the real world and back on social media.

We've all been really critical of the show and it's had its fair share of flaws but ultimately it's been unlike anything else and has been incredibly entertaining. I'm looking forward for season two. They'll have a chance to fix a lot of the mistakes and possibly create something closer to their original plan for the show.

After that I hope they end the project. I can't see it being entertaining after two seasons and Sam would be bored of the project. Maybe they'll streamline the production and cut down Sam's role so that he only acts as a host and won't be on set as much. At what point will it go from being an experiment to a routine?
