With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

Geez I'm glad I ducked out when I did(after Jon left). I have been playing catch up on the thread every week or so. Shame to hear Jon outed
himself as completely bitchmade in his cameo stay.


The freeloaders largely sound like a detriment except for Lance and Betty. I definitely would of bounced on Fatty.

Hearing how Josie has continued being a flat void justifies me not hanging around with her as the last protagonist. A show like this needs people you sympathize with(I call protagonists) and people that you love to hate(antagonists) Ups and downs of both winning and challenging each other. Vance was always an antagonist, but a boring one. He stuck around just cause Sylvia was an even more boring antagonist. When I bounced I guessed it'd be Letty, Josie, and Vance at the end, and Vance most likely the next to go. For the drama set up of this, a villain has to be there til the final 2, then the last two protag contestants fight it out til the win. Letty and Josie are a poor final 2, it'd be Jon and Josie if he could of held out, and I'm surprised how many people they've successful flipped for Letty. Letty is a crazy BPD psycho, of course she can handle the treatment, she'll make her own life shit just to feel something. At the very least they set up and ending I'm not really sure where they are going to go with, I just also don't care who wins.

I will return for season 2, I think this has potential, hopefully they'll improve. I'll be even quicker to check out though if they keep making the same fuck ups.

Freeloaders were hit/miss, the main gripe I think people had with them was they were clearly told to fuck with Letty in particular for some reason. Letty put up with so much over the top harassment for the final 2 weeks especially.

Letty and Josie are a solid final 2, Josie has shown she'll commit to any challenge. She hasn't had to put up with the same amount of abuse but she's entertaining in her own way like Letty is and since she genuinely isn't too keen on Letty it has created fun moments where they're forced to do things in B2. Also plenty of dull moments since Josie seldom wants to talk with Letty who thrives on those 1 on 1 conversations.

Jon is weak and can't handle what Josie can, let alone half of what Letty puts up with. I'm Josie Gang but Letty has earned people's respect for good reason, she doesn't seem bipolar at all and her shenanigans in hindsight were blatantly spurred on by the production team. Not that I'm complaining.

I'll be checking it out as well but I feel like season 1 will always have some magic that is hard to recapture.

I agree, Jon wasn't cut out for the show.

I guess a better description could be people there being a character(not playing one, more like having a personality) versus people playing the game. Even though I hate Letty, I view her as a protagonist. It's more than he was the only fish that I thought was a Main Character for the show that I liked. Jon, Josie, and Letty definitely were the main characters of the start. Mauro wasn't a fit for the show, boring and didn't participate, he was neither archetype in my mind, just dead weight. Simmons wasn't properly vetted but also a weak Main Character, Vance and Sylvia were foils from the start, neither had the personality to really get to the top of the participants, but they competed, Sylvia barely so. Damiel was a Freeloader from the start, I think he was a filler for a last minute drop.

So 3 of 8(Mauro, Simmons, Damiel) were DoA, Jon didn't have what it took to compete, I feel like Josie stood up better than Jon but also had to be babied to keep on like they tried with Jon. Josie was more resilient, but Letty probably gets it worse cause they know the show is over if Josie leaves and they don't want to risk that. With a stronger cast Josie's an obvious emotional 4th place elimination.

I think the biggest improvement to Season 2 will be the fish having a better idea of what they are getting into. Having one or two not cut out for the competition is fine, it gives the better contestants more time to cook and develop, and for the fans to get attached. Also let's them go harder on the abuse.

6 weeks is also way too long. 4 weeks is perfect, I checked out about week 3, and would of held out if we were staring down the conclusion. It's also great for elimination, only 1 in the first week as the audience discovers all these contestants, 2 every week after that to keep things moving.

I think he's lying, and covered more of the interview in the Anisa thread.

He claims Ian did it in secret, and he wasn't even supposed to mention it. He then also said Fatty has no way of accepting it directly so they don't even know where it goes and that it might have been stolen. I just think it's one of his many lies as he distorts and lies about shit all the time in the interview to make his point, and if he's ever called out on it, he doesn't concede the point but rather changes it and doubles down.

A 10 second google search would show you that severe mood swings, acting recklessly and inability to manage emotions are the main symptoms of BPD. Letty fits none of those. She rarely cries and literally gets spat on and screamed at daily with a smile on her face. She is fully in control of her emotions.

It's kind of ironic the 4chan crowd loves calling people NPC's when they just as mindlessly repeat buzzwords

Haven't looked at this thread since the site went down and people are STILL arguing about whether Letty is BPD or not? Get some fucking sense, judge Letty based on her actions on the show not armchair psychology used to justify your hatred for her.

That's really accurate. Probably more than anyone else in the house she is able to control her emotions, maybe even more than usual when she can tell someone is trying to upset her. She also has very obvious, healthy coping methods - she rests when she is overstimulated, and at least once a day she finds someone to talk to, whoever is available, until she has worked her feelings out. And she's good about it, she seems to deliberately entwine her venting with questions for the person she is talking to so that it's not just one-sided dumping. Definitely not BPD, if it's anything she just has an extreme tolerance for things that are gross and a lot of men might interpret her need to talk as romantic interest.

Just, I guess, to compare her to other girls - Sylvia just bites down when she is mad on the thing that is provoking her. Which makes her a terrible competitor in Fishtank, because it's a lolcow habit that makes it easy and rewarding to go after her. And to be blunt it seems like Josie has no ego and doesn't get upset by anything that isn't a physical sensation.

To be fair, a lot of it comes off as edgy just for the sake of it and just bitching about past rejections/todays women being cloutchasers and the absolute state of dating. Sam did have sex at least multiple times (art hoes are easy, but they carry a risk of being especially destructive, lets be real here), but a good subset of his fans most likely didn't. Especially the ones who weren't high IQ enough to leave the catboy cult by now. But this belongs in the CDT subforum.

I think they've both always had a love/hate thing with Letty, especially Sam.

I think they really lucked out with the girls this season, they were all kind of kooky and willing to go along with the craziness without being hardened, nihilistic IP2 kinds of chicks.

If they do a 2nd season for real I think they'll have a hard time finding that again and we might end up with really crazy Bad Girls Club types.

Words hurt her but she copes by laughing and has gotten better at ignoring it. She mentioned yesterday she cried in the bathroom previously in Fishtank but decided she'd stick it out after that.

I think she has a bit of an ego built up during the show but came in with extremely low self confidence and that low confidence has resurfaced recently due to TTS and the challenges. When she goes back home I hope she doesn't fall back into the slump she was in, she seemed to be on a self destructive route and in denial she was depressed.
