Josie has a legion of simps for the following reasons:
1. She's vaguely Asian looking and there is nothing more on earth autistic shutin men like more then Asian women
2. Her autism makes her more approachable then someone like Betty or Letty. Also your average /tv/ poster josiecel is riddled with autism too so it's relatable.
3. I don't think it's a coincidence that the board that coined the term "cunny" is obsessed with a woman who acts like a child. I'll just leave it at that.
There is a distinct duality to the Josiecel, on one hand emotionally damaged, repressed men who feel an emotional connection to her, as they describe it anyway;

On the other hand, deranged coomers, possibly a joke at times and pretty funny;

I like Jet, but his talents seem to lie in middle-management, not in editing or creativity.
iirc, Jet originally got into MDE as an editor. cbf to find the video explaining how he got into it but it was because he had some editing skills and knew someone on the crew. I don't know what mde stuff jet has specifically edited but doing meme stuff or more experimental edits is a different skillset from trying to edit something from hundreds of hours to create a good story but the problem with editing still mostly comes down to jet having a different idea of what should be shown compared to people who are big fans of the show.

They're the same people

I assume most of the stuff w/ josiecells is a bit. That's how the waifu stuff used to work at my most devoted it was w/ rose/ashleyj. It's just something to do/focus on and playing it up to the most extreme/obsessive possible is funny. I spent like over a grand on josie tts and it was fun but I can't be bothered to watch the streams they just suck. Seeing y'all take the shitposting seriously is pretty funny. Even with rose when I'd regularly fall asleep looping vyou videos it was just something to do/focus on not something anyone should take seriously. Another big part of it is just competition with the other weirdos who can get the most engagement/interaction from the person, it's just a game. (i played counter strike and knife fought rose a couple times it was the proudest moment of my life)
It's pretty similar to how people have anime waifus, it's just something to set as your wallpaper, something to focus on so you don't have to think about yourself/your life, hopefully the person isn't crazy enough to actually buy into it. Welcome to the nhk is a good analysis of how it works psychologically, specifically the self-conscious performative thing of going all in on something you know is kind of BS. Even as a bit though they can still point to truth, I have a similar mindset to those /tv/ posts and I love how over the top they are it's a good way of expressing it.

I do think it's possible some of the retards off twitter are keeping it up and don't get that it's a bit though I don't have access to such a low level of thinking. The unironic josiecell stuff did seem to take off after a week or two after all the people off twitter poured in.

Though if you guys don't get how perfect Josie is don't bother trying to understand, it's just above you, stick to sylvie's onlyfans it's the best you'll ever be able to get. (I'm guessing some of you guys are so stupid you'll take this at face value even after me explaining it above)

It's not a bit with too many of them.

Spending a grand on tts isn't a "bit". Call it what it is, it's literally coping. You were close when you said it was a distraction from real life but you're deluding yourself by saying it's not "serious" to devote a lot of time to thinking about a girl who at best doesn't know you exist outside of saying your username in chat/donation and at worst recognizes you as a giant creep who won't leave her alone. You can pretend it's a game but ultimately what you're describing is a full on cope. I also think you're completely off the mark thinking that most waifufags have the same mindset, i'm sure a good amount do but you severely underestimate the amount of genuine autists, mentally ill, and socially inept adults out there. I'm partially talking from experience here, as i've gotten obsessed with several different women during my teens so I can understand the feeling of distracting yourself with happy thoughts of being together with a girl that you project all of your fantasies onto, the difference is I grew out of it and I wasn't in a "competition" with other retarded e-fags. No matter how you spin it, being obsessed with Josie or any other e-girl is not healthy, will waste your time, and stunt your social growth.

This applies to all josiefags that might be in this thread btw.

Idk dude a grand is a bit to me I've blown way more on stupider stuff, FT was fun and it was worth it. Stop being poor?
Your experience doesn't really sound similar, you are probably just the type of retard who actually buys into stuff like I said that's possible I just can't imagine what that's like. I've talked to a good number of people who did similar stuff and even the crazy ones who'd like cut people's names into their arm and send them pics also were just doing it as a bit and thought it was funny.
People have issues that can manifest into the weird waifu stuff but I just don't really buy it's causing it unless they are just straight up retarded. To actually fix your issues you have to act to fix whatever those issues actually are.
The /tv/ posts that were posted to depict the crazy josiecells were obvious shitposts you guys are just getting trolled. There might be 2 or 3 legit unhinged people who don't get it but like I said even the most extreme people I've talked to just think it's funny.

"ERMMM ACTUALLY THEY ARE JUST PRETENDING TO BE A WEIRD SEXUAL DEVIANTS IRONICALLY YOU JUST GOT TROLLED!!!!!" Giga levels of cope.

I like Jet, but his talents seem to lie in middle-management, not in editing or creativity.

But seriously, Jet has the credit for editing the reality show parody, in which he seems much more compenent in terms of editing these sorts of things. But the main difference between these projects, is that the parody was made more as a "funny thing" where they had the audio and video they needed, where as Fishtank was his more "serious" project where it had to be pieced together from what clips of media they had, which is harder to do and takes more effort.

So Jet stops being the main editing guy and the episodes immediately improve?
When I watched the beginning of Fishtank Episode 4, I remember thinking that this thing must have been slapped together FAST and without a quality screening, bacause it was that rough with such in-your-face mistakes. Later on in that episode, it started flowing much more natural, and was generally less rough. Episode 5 had a bit of a drawn-out intro bit, but then went on to be perhaps the most polished episode so far. I can only assume this is where Ben took over the editing, which is weird, since he is their new audio guy, not editor.
So while it would be strange for him to be the better editor, I think it just comes down to effort. Jet, high from all the live-show praise, thought he could put this together EZ, forgetting that even skilled folk have to put in effort to do a good job. He likes to talk about how hard he works on Twitter, which will only raise expectations.

Ben on the other hand, seems to be the type of person who does NOT need to talk about how hard he works, but surprises the people around him with his commitment. I see it more as a talk-er vs. do-er kind of situation. Here is the director of WorldPeace2 on Ben:

“Haha you don’t get it bro, I spent $1000 on basically nothing as a joke man. It was just for goofs. I was just pretending to be retarded for the lulz. You making fun of me for spending $1000 on my waifu to say 4 words to me shows that you just got trolled.”

Ben is the only guy from new MDE that I've never seen get any flack. The dude seems genuinely talented, hard-working, and funny. Of all of them, he seems to have the most depth and personality beyond being a Soundcloud wigger.

My intentions are purely romantic.

Yo. If there's anyone who should get more screentime it's Ben.
The drunk-boy-Ben alcoholism bit was insane, the Ben losing custody of his kids bit was insane... it's only a pity that they were at a point in the show where the contestants were skeptical of everything they were seeing because it was an unfair disadvantage for him. Chris was the only one who would ever believe him. But I would go to the rooms he was taking people to religiously because it was always 10/10. I hope next season they can string it out a little more so he can actually fool people before the skepticism hits.

Watching episode 5 right now with Lance and it unlocked one of my all time favorite moments from the show. Vance and Lance get super drunk and start to perfectly imitate each other and go around the house making people laugh hysterically. If anyone has a clip of this moment please post it it's one of the underrated classic moments from the show.

Surely Jet and the production team was able to film this moment and put it into the episode.

This pretty much highlights the reasons I don't think filming separately for episodes is a terribly good or well thought out idea; it intrudes on the livestreams to have the production crew barge in half a dozen or more times a day to ruin the natural flow of things in the house and try to force content for the filmed episodes and worse of all they can't possibly be there to capture any of the genuinely funny moments that happened completely organically.

They need to at least mic up the fish, and maybe invest in some HD house cameras. So much context was lost simply because we couldn't hear what the fish were saying.

At the very least I'd throw in spare mics around the house that aren't always attached to the livestream setup so that if it's not possible to lav mic the fish due to
  • waterproofing issues
  • charging the mics for 24/7
  • incompatibility with the livestream setup
Jet can toggle some shit in the basement and switch the room's mic to one that's off in the corner where people are talking.

they can't possibly be there to capture any of the genuinely funny moments that happened completely organically.
It's a tradeoff, because the HD cameras capture people's expressions in a way that's totally lost from above:

I just think they're too shy about weighing the house cameras catching something that's better over HD cameras catching something that's worse but HD. We all put up with the shitty house cameras, it's not going to be a major insult to the audience to see them used.
