Jet is being a shithead, seems to only care about dickriders and what is the point of that. There was some pretty negative feedback in that space when I listened and its still useful feedback, no matter how inarticulate the feedback is. The product is middling, that's just what it is. The whole "we're figuring it out" stuff is pretty lame, he's supposed to be an editor not some beginner who just installed Sony Vegas last week.

This episode finally shows the potential this had all along at episode 6 of 10.
It would be alright if it was just free shows for the fans but as a product its pretty shit. You can probably assume that S2 will have good edited episodes though, if they can keep quality up going forward, but man, in contrast ep 1-5 is just looking worse and worse.

I don't know if I fully agree with Frank, saying that they should have included a lot more. Jet is correct in that there is always going to be gold left on the cutting room floor, but he is also wrong stating that including Franks heart-to-heart with Fatty is bad due to the narrative they are pushing; Frank as a villain. It is a more complex moment to have included, gives a lot of context for Fatty and where he is having just entered the tank, its dense and interesting, builds a bigger picture. Fuck the villain narrative, make it more complex, its not like Frank was truly an ominous presence anyway, its extremely mild even in this show where they intended to portray a villain.

They definitely should have included more. Alot of context and funny bits are missing, such as Vance's schizo arc. The contestants have even said this themselves. The show should've started out with 1 hour long episodes.

After reflecting a bit on some of what Sicko Hunter has said regarding Jet in previous posts, I'm going to go and play a little devil's advocate here. While I don't like Jet myself I think a bone should be thrown to him at least when considering his reaction to criticism. He is an amateur who's young and in his 20's going up against a torrent of criticism as the head of a major project for the first time. I don't think its farfetched to say he's not very well equipped to properly deal with that as its very likely nobody thinks to prepare you for that aspect of putting yourself in the spotlight. I hope he gets a small moment to catch his breath so he can recover, reflect, and improve.

Honestly they could've added the Hassleing in the extra footage. The hot or not ranking dragged way too long and I just ended up skipping because it was so boring and same goes for the self-defense course. We barely saw Frank destroying more plushies, messing with Sylvia, trying to get Josie to reveal her feet, and being an enforcer for Simon and using fart spray on Letty. So much content from Frank has been left out and it was one of the main incentive for people to get memberships so they could get Frank into the tank.

It really feels like Jet is trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on this. He desperately needs to figure out how to accept constructive criticism without getting bent out of shape or he'll end up spiraling, which would be a shame. I only watched the youtube clip from the talk but it seems to me Jet has this clear idea that the "real fans" love the fishtank episodes and they couldn't be better while anyone who has any criticism is part of a "resistance". Since Hassle obviously has the reputation of being an annoying troll Jet is mentally drowning out any criticism Frank has because in his mind Frank is only saying this to make him mad or because it's contrarian, he's not really listening to anything he says and constantly tries to bring up "the fans love it"

The absolute worst part about Jet Neptune is that he talks exactly like Sam. His tone of voice, his sentence structure, the words he uses - literally everything about the way he speaks is an exact carbon copy of Sam. I hate it so much. Only difference is Sam wouldn't get caught being this much of a disrespectful faggot in an argument. Frank Hassle is OG MDE who has been around a lot longer than Jet. Jet is and always will be a gateway for soft zoomers to connect to Sam's content. I don't hate him for it, but it's nothing like what Frank brought to the table back in the day. The dismissive attitude from Jet in this phone call is outlandish to me. The clip that's been uploaded is only partial. There's a second part where Jet calls back in and Frank just calls him a faggot, which is completely justified at this point.

Frank's criticisms were legitimate. A lot of people agree with him. On the other hand, there has rarely been a contestant on a reality show who was happy with the way they were portrayed. CBS and NBC carefully vet their former contestants before giving them a chance to speak publicly after their episodes air. When you have as much content as Fish Tank good things are going to get cut and that's just the way it is. The way Jet handled the call from Frank is a really bad look for the entire production and I hope he realizes that in hindsight. Right now Jet needs to keep his head down and focus on making sure Season 2 delivers. A little bit of distance goes a loooong way when the spotlight gets too hot.

That would be "The Commander" Jan Rankowski, who brings an entirely different editing style that would completely change the overall look of the show. Possibly for the better, but hard to say. If anyone is unfamiliar with Frank's edited stuff, it rivals early MDE and is very well done and funny. I don't think it would work that well for a reality show like Fishtank but I'd like to be proven wrong.

I would imagine an editor feeling overwhelmed sitting down to edit the remainder of the episodes this late into the production, especially if they were unfamiliar with the show. If Jet doesn't hire at least one full time editor for season 2 he deserves for the project to fail.

I agree. There's a difference between leaving out parts for the sake of more integral parts of Fishtank, and just leaving out parts because they're not funny to you or because they don't fir your narrative. I was a bit worried when Jet said the skit challenge wasn't included in the final product, but remained hopeful. Clearly that hope was misplaced. Leaving out things such as schizo Vance or Hassle consoling Chris is a travesty, as many people would consider those iconic. Those things are one the same level as Chris falling down the stairs in terms of being recognizable. How do you leave out Jon's boxing arc? I don't care about any stupid "plot" Jet wants to push as that was lost the moment they didn't have a narrator for the first episode. Things that were integral to Fishtank are being left out for seemingly no reason, and that's sad.

Jet allowing this hour long episode exist shows that his the first five episodes were made so short either out of incompetence or laziness. It also might show that they've been editing this as time goes on instead of in advance. He most likely panicked because of all the criticism is getting and he hired somebody to make a decent episode more then 30 minutes long. The fact is the harm has already been done and practically half the show is unreachable unless you go through random YouTube clips or 6 weeks worth of livestream.

Yeah i just got done listening to that. Jet had the balls to use frank utilizing editors as some kinda dig, without realizing thats what apparently made this new episode good lol. He should be managing and overseeing editors at this point, not doing it himself. Im most burned by the fact that these 10 episodes are what were getting.
