With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

  • 2 Stars — Pretty bad. Some funny moments, dragged, too many vibe repair days. Barely worth checking.

  • 3 Stars — Average. Solid entertainment in spots, some good chaos and crashouts, but nothing special

    Votes: 169 22.1%
  • 4 Stars — Really good. Lots of hilarious moments, strong fish personalities, solid content and vibes

In retrospect watching how uninteresting Tay is this season I think it really puts it in perspective just how bad season 2 was. Like she was considered the best of the final three. That's how dire things were. When Tay is the most interesting fish you have things are utterly fucked.

This was under the post he made @ing Jet and Sam talking about exposing them. (missed it earlier.)

I've only been watching this randomly. Have they been getting many TTS going through? and would the be making as much money from them as previous seasons?

The turn out this season has been slightly less, but i will say they might be making like half of what theyve made of of season 2? they made tts super cheap and cigs super cheap for awhile and those were going off like crazy. Another thing i saw was that the narrative polls were bringing a couple hundred bucks each.

They had heaps over the first few days I watched. When I was watching this morning (about 7pm their time) they didn’t have many TTS. More cig deliveries I think but the AI SFX slowed down a lot

I don't know what it is but I stopped caring about this season that much. I'll have it up sometimes as white noise but there's zero investment in anything going on, it's just people hanging out and listening to Jimmy sperg mostly.
It may be that I got too invested in the RP aspect. Every small step into what you could probably call "Doing Fishtank Stuff" seems to have distracted everyone. The mess, retarded drama, sperging.
Having a more structured and guided season worked. They threw it away.
I think I only ever said this once in the fishtank chat, but more and more the LARP feels like a red herring and not the core of the season.

There are still good moments happening, at the expense of a lot and I am not sure the exchange is worth it.

jet probably makes a LOT of money on the AI bullshit this late at night
Does that make it ... interesting for viewers? Go to sleep you drunk, I been seeing you post a lot tonight being a little contrarian. The AI slop is interesting to less than 1% of us or it'd fucking be on 24/7. It's a low viewership cash grab. Everyone quits when the night time TTS shit starts. He'd have more fans doing an ASMR Fish Tank camping stream.

I think the AI TTS spam and the goblin raids were particularly rough on the RP aspect because the Fish have to be prepared/ready to wake up at night to deal with it, and then they can just get shit they earned during the day stolen. Also it turned into a 5 person camp very fast because Jon pretty much never slept there. Harder to defend.

Yeah and it's late, I just get a little upset when people shit on the contestants and take them for granted, I like all of them so much.

Man it's a shame it started going kind of tits up.

I love this season, honestly but production kind of dropped the ball when it comes to playing off and plotting the plot alongside the contestants.
It felt like they were doing a Jimmy road to redemption esque arc here and I was all here for it. But the thing is, they tried to diversify the plot in the way wrong direction. No shit if you give a power hungry andwew twate retard power, he's going to be a cunt about it.
And no shit, the guy with anger issues isn't going to be able to handle that.
Jon was good for a little stretch halfway through the first week when he seemed to finally kind of get RP. But Jon is and always will be a fucking tard. He's going to cause tard-esque problems in the longer run.
They were already pushing it with the challenge they gave Letty to pester Jimmy about why he was kicked off (which was a misplay, Letty is one of those women that will needlessly hold on to friction and be a petty cunt for the sake of it. Like, Jon, but less gay and slightly less autistic).

In all honesty, even though he's still a retard and still mostly does it to himself by signing up, I can't help but feel bad for the guy. He very obviously has issues and you can actually see him trying to keep them from interfering with the show until he keeps getting pushed and pushed. I know it's retardedly cliche to say but I genuinely believe that he's a pretty good person, who just had to deal with shit circumstances and issues. The way he reacted when he accidentally injured that girls' (Taylor?) wrist made me feel for the guy. With that "get a kiss" challenge I didn't feel as bad, because it was just him getting into his own head but I do get it. Guy has a lot of unresolved issues and is pretty insecure due to those issues.

I've seen people say that it was needed to stir up drama and the like but I disagree. You can do hell-house esque shit sure, but to me, the peak moments of this season are the dumb RP shit, downright goofiness and the progression of the plot with the contestants' role in it.
