With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

  • 2 Stars — Pretty bad. Some funny moments, dragged, too many vibe repair days. Barely worth checking.

  • 3 Stars — Average. Solid entertainment in spots, some good chaos and crashouts, but nothing special

    Votes: 170 22.2%
  • 4 Stars — Really good. Lots of hilarious moments, strong fish personalities, solid content and vibes

It sounds as if ex-fish will be able to make their own home into a small fishtank. What's kind of interesting is that Josie's stream setup is somewhat informed by the fishtank experience, having a room-cam set up that's close to more of a fishtank perspective, rather than what streams generally are, locked down to a desk camera view.
I don't see the utility for a streamer having a live feed choice, but that is at least interesting and has some potential.
Its such a niche concept though, no idea if its something that contestants have any interest in, also being further enmeshed into fishtank or MDE may not be appealing to a lot of them.

Letty was joking in the last stream with Tai what she was jumping ship to Cx now, and Letty certainly could break out easily. Josie is doing her own weird thing and her FT connection is not really part of her streaming atm. Tayleigh is maybe closer to someone who would use something like this.

I can see it working in cases where fish are not people with streaming channels set up, that are not monetized within the AdSense system or Twitch etc. There has been value for a lot of fish who leave doing a few streams and milking it for their last 15 minutes or fame. Having access to a platform with no barrier to monetization could be good for that. I don't see the long-term case, but it remains to be seen how this will play out and work at all too.

She isn't the only one, Tayleigh has an secondary/overhead camera since April that she uses for odd angles.

I'm pretty sure Taylor also wanted to get a secondary overhead camera for when she did cooking streams as well but since she moved back to Florida that is probably a low priority. The big issue with the proposed fishtank streamer "have multiple camera feeds" thing is that the streamer doesn't want them active at all times. They flip to the secondary feed, do whatever bit they want visible, then flip back to the default desktop view. Having the overhead be active during the entire stream is kinda invasive and only appropriate for the fishtank house environment.

Given that most of the extant fish are established with subscriptions and memberships I really doubt any of them will decamp to a platform that realistically has maybe 5000-7000 viewers in total remaining given what we saw from 2.5 and The Cell/Bitchtank. Towards the very end of Bitchtank the viewership was down to 3500, not ideal at all considering Season 2 started off with about 25k on the first day.

I could see Letty show up to Ice Poseidon events as a regular like EBZ, Ace or kangjoel. But she would have to be selective in her choices, stuff like the prison stream is definitely out because it was too violent, but the events like the scavenger hunt is something she could enjoy. The big problem with Ice Poseidon events is the fact that the participants have to fly themselves there and bring their own streaming setups which is extremely expensive. Letty and Jon likely came out at a harsh loss for participating in the Hunger Games because neither had TTS active the entire time they were participating. I remember one of the girls on Hunger Games ranting when she was quitting about how her personal phone was smashed to bits and that as a non-streamer she had zero hope of winning because it shifted to a paypig meta for health refreshes. Ice needs to start providing equipment and flying them out if he ever wants to get bigger and not piss off the people coming out to participate.

Had more ideas, some good, some bad...

First of all, the worst thought: Jon's access to the website means all of his "forty boys" are going to bend him over and twist his arm to "get on fishtank" by hanging out with him on stream. His stream is going to become a revolving door of chairforce veterans, crypto thousandaires, and pothead politicians and if he's smart he'll go back to charging them to appear but he won't so every time he is live some grifter will be hawking trash.

The other side of this same coin is that as long as a fish is attached to a project, the overly ambitious idea of having a "crazy setup" with many cameras does lend itself to a knockoff fishtank if they can round up some people to help them with it. Imagine Vance rents a studio apartment and his sketch comedy friends come through and help rig it with cameras and then they start inviting people over on Craigslist? He'd be free to brand it closely to Fishtank because he's operating on their site. There isn't really an upper boundary to that as long as people actually watch when Sam isn't going to appear.

If it has to be desktop streams because it's all the fish know how to do then so be it, but I can imagine some extreme positive or negative results for a fish who is either retarded or ambitious.

Yeah Fish that burned bridges (Meg, Summer, Betty) or had bridges burned (Simmons) would never be allowed. Jet would probably be fine with like, Mauro or some of the whiny/controversial but cooperative freeloaders lol.

Idk I like independent sites, I think there could be a real good idea in it for Fish that know they aren't channel growing and just want to funstream after work and get some TTS bucks from their existing fans.

Someone smarter than Jet and Sam should probably look into locking solid boundaries for what could lose them payment processing though. Another reason Betty could never be invited is she would make it OnlyFans degeneracy immediately. Or Meg trying to ERP on fucking Roblox or whatever (and accidentally running into a minor on, you know, the childrens' game). Make sure Jimmy can Nbomb, HH and do his Jew impressions. Figure out what can Trish show on a tattoo stream. Etc.

I want to say I remember them having issues with Stripe but that might also have been for chargebacks... but idk better to be safe before cobbling this shit together imo. I guess if icky pukers and everything else got the pass then it is fine but make sure anyway.

What constitutes someone as 'elite' in the eyes of fishtank production? Retards and schizos?
Probably what ever rallies up more attention/viewership to fill slots for what's available and when. It's not really great for viewership growth, but gives you a platform free of censorship or doing something potentially experimental with the fishtank viewerbase. I don't think this will ever be a "I exclusively stream on fishtank.live" but will be a "I want to hold an event/do something shittier platforms won't let me or lack the ability to do." It also let's the wiggers and company to use the site when it's otherwise unused.

I'm hopeful about it but how well executed it'll be will vary from person to person using it.

I totally agree, I am hopeful as well. I think it'll be a huge advantage getting use out of the site during off seasons. Instead of the website just sitting there unused other than rando chatters as we wait for full season edits that seem to take forever to completely edit despite having an editor employed.

that sounds hilarious though? the real problem will be people turning fishtank.live into twitch 3.0

So it'll be Twitch with allowance of the N word?
Even Fishtank has mild censorship on that so not really. It is nice that people don't mind throwing around 'Negga' instead and there isn't this constant pearl-clutching about offensive little words like on every god forsaken twitch stream I've tuned in to.
These days you could just do Kick, they seem ok with a bit of grime, and may have at least some kind of discoverability.

BossmanJack got banned for calling someone a faggot, which is guaranteed to happen on Fishtank. When the site was down on S1 and they had the youtube restream up they had to try making nothing ban-worthy occur on camera such as when Damiel mooned the loot crate and the cam was quickly changed.
