Reality TV and research under the guise of marketing that doesn't face peer review has essentially zero ethical guidelines.

Josh would thrive in the tank... the constant flow of alcohol is perfect for him. But for his sake, I hope he doesn't go in the tank (on the slim chance he actually is) because he's not even funny autism... just depressing autism where you wonder how his parents failed so badly.
Varied, due to changes in design (seeking revised hypotheses) and participant selection. Some replicated, others failed to. The reasons and speculations on why varies. There's a good case for multiple outcomes depending on any number of variables. You'd have to go through the complete study to see how it went so spectacularly off the rails and how it could have gone in any other direction at any time. Many of these foundational social experiments are just hard as shit to fully replicate even though the findings are sound.
I think Vance does really well as a production member. We've seen in season 1 and 2.5 that he just doesn't have what it takes to be a long term entertaining or content creating fish, but I think he did a great job in season 2 as a camera man and as muscle to stop fish fights.
