With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

  • 2 Stars — Pretty bad. Some funny moments, dragged, too many vibe repair days. Barely worth checking.

With Luke leaving, they can kick the elimination can down the road. The fish are actually all pretty good this time around. Even Ian and Peyton are leagues better than like half of the S1/S2 contestants.

Luke is a plant and remember that people have real life committments outside of the show. Tai as an example was exited from S1 using the "bwoke the fishtank" award ceremony and in S2 they used a sexual harassment thing over his dinner date with Tay to exit him. The reality was that Tai had comedy shows he needed to fly home for to attend to. Luke is fun and has a purpose but real life takes priority.

Unlike Mauro, Ian has a great income. He's securing a respectable 4k a month in disability and that greatly elevates his prospects and entertainment value.

I just think people don't look at past seasons contestants objectively. Ian chowing down and sitting emotionless on the couch is on the same level as the morgue cam in b3 and Mauro sleeping with a pillow on his face. I equally enjoy all these bits but they're hyped by fans cause the nontent levels are high in the rest of the house.

It’s kind of the inverse in this case IMO. Ian chowing down and sitting emotionless on the couch is funny this season *not* because the rest of the house is nontent, but rather because it is a constant flurry of drama that he sits apart from. Like a rock in the rapids, the water swirls around him but he is unaffected.

I didn't see it mentioned here, so I just thought I would add that there was a conversation in the den after this incident about their contracts. Ted asks the room if anyone noticed the part of the contract that says "if you are nude on camera, production has the rights to the footage." Burt responds, "Wait, really? Are you serious?"
