Burt is naturally schizophrenic. Burt mumbling, chronic masturbation, and night terrors is not an act.
He even has a lot of prescribed pills for his condition. Its very funny indeed but also sad.

It is sad but based upon what I have seen on him and his life history it looks like he has made the most of a very difficult and harsh life situation and actually accomplished a fair amount. I'm not sure what exactly compelled him to try and become a dom daddy at this point in his life, but I am impressed that despite having schizophrenia he keeps to taking his medication. Obviously there are some less than stellar qualities about him (like trying to give serious medications to random people) but many times when I've seen or heard of people with schizophrenia it is a lot sadder of a story.

I just worry he'll come out of the tank worse off, with TTS being more permanent for him... Or if he snaps in the tank.
Burt's cool, and he's funny, and I don't want him to get hurt. (:_(

Burt currently in his underwear, tweaking out, pacing around b3. There are two people in the beds hiding under the covers in the hopes that burt doesn't find them.

I kind of had the same concerns when fishtank season 1 started and on the first day Josie was playing with that stupid toy and I was like "jesus fucking christ, there is no way this young woman gets through this alive" and also have had the same feeling about some of the other contestants and especially with how they are pushed to the edge.

Especially as we've seen with people like Betty and some of the contestants with severe issues, they are not predictable and things can end badly. There was that accusation that production just dropped off that chick in S2 at a bus stop alone and then she ended up having to go to a psych ward (where they strangely let her have continued access to her phone???). I don't know if the accusation that they just dropped her off alone had and basis in reality, but I hope they learned a lesson from that that people with serious mental health disorders are not really worth screwing around with no matter how much content they may produce.

Beyond first hoping that Burt is ok, I do hope production realize that all they need to do is push things too far just once and it could end very badly and permanently scar not only the real humans on the show, but also their own reputations for life in a way that is much worse than just being "social media cancelled" (as an example I would look at what happened to some of the more morally dubious online porn production companies or stuff like bumfights. fishtank may not be online porn but it isn't far off)

There does come a point where if something significantly bad happens that the contracts they've signed with production as well as any legal liability protections that production believe they may have will become non-existent when something significantly bad happens and a district attorney gets a hardcore erection to go after them with the full force of the law to make an example.

But at the same time, at least fishtank is a pretty self-contained show and has somewhat sensible people in production who step in to make sure things don't go too far (for example: very clearly and directly telling Burt he can't share medications anymore). I feel like some of the livestreamers on places like Kick have far more freedom to risk entering the world of total retardation than is even possible on fishtank. But compared to Kick streamers, fishtank is a "brand" that does a 6 week show so they kind of have a lot more responsibility to make sure the contestants are ok.

I'm sure all these contestants will be able to handle it a lot better just because they're older and have more life experiences. like CK and Betty and Summer were NEETs barely old enough to drink when in the tank, of course they'd embarrass themselves and go a bit nutty.

Meanwhile these people are on average about 30 years old i'm sure they can handle this experience.

Ted and Binx had a talk in confession an hour or so ago, discussing the weird things they're noticing about the 'show'. Binx seemingly implies that she thinks it's live by stating that the production-led events always seem to happen around the time people get home from work (6ish) and then something else later in the evening before people go to bed ("around 8 or 9"). Ted, still mopey about having to be part of 'sending someone home', has convinced Binx to let him vote for her this evening on the condition that he not tell anyone. She says if by some weird twist of fate she ends up going home tonight, she won't blame him.

OT: What do you guys use to clip things? I don't mind typing out autistic walls of text to recap stuff, but I'm not the best at formatting and I'd assume more people would rather just read bulletpoints and watch a clip.

I just think there's a serious line between Josie's autism and Summer's BPD. He's a paranoid schizophrenic. That's a whole other animal, even if it shares the same label of "mental health issue." I remember Jet even made some stupid post on the site, saying something like, "who would've thought the paranoid schizophrenic would just nap all day lol."

I don't think they get the real shit Burt deals with.
I dunno you gotta take quite a few benadryls for it to trigger magical stuff.
It just made him sleepy.

Yeah I feel bad for Burt. When he is just talking to no one he is hearing someone in his head. That's what all those meds are for. Real schizophrenia is an awful disease.

He told production it was Benadryl and melatonin. It makes more sense Burt was giving him his sizzurp concoction than fucking psyche meds.
I think he just told production to get Alex OTC meds to help after they stopped him from sharing his Rx meds. And it makes complete sense that the paranoid schizophrenic guy is trying to convince someone else to take his antipsychotics.

Ben't having Cymbal do some cringe takes about how he's not here to make friends.

Unrelated, @Plasticise I'm posting your avatar for posterity because it's adorable.

Someone mentioned that it's commendable that as a paranoid schizophrenic he sticks to taking his medications; considering that as well as the way he talks about the wonders of drugs and supplements and how they can "fix" Alex, it seems like one of his particular fixations is a complete faith in pharmaceuticals. It's a good thing in that he's self-motivated to stay medicated which makes him probably about as functional as he can be, but it also could explain him seeking to "fix" people around him in the same way they fix him.

I'm curious about what happened to Burt after his first kiss and his first sexual encounter (allegedly 19 and 26-28 according to an earlier cap of his Reddit account but I could be misremembering).

After seeing the video of him on Youtube from around college aged, I think, and how vastly he's changed I can't help but wonder what triggered it. Was it sexual in nature? Did his mental conditions worsen? A combination of the two? How do his parents feel about the sudden turn in his life? Are they still in contact, estranged?

Fishtank likely isn't going to uncover any of this information but I find myself wondering regardless. Learning more about Alex's story would be neat as well but probably not from his own lips; he seems to be an unreliable narrator.

Outside of that, I hope Slimeball chokes and fucking dies.
