With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

Once again gaslighting proves its superiority to typical Fishtank challenges. The Alex gaslight is perfect. The only thing that would make it better if it was still Famous House so the other Fish would fall for the "Sam quitting" gaslight as well. Love this shit.

A lot of Fish are like Alex in that they have an ideal condition they thrive in. Alex is perfect for gaslighting, the Jeet needs to have his ego boosted by Sam so he's more willing to do embarrassing shit, Mizzy's narcissism needs to be fed, Burt is at his best when he's given a bodiless voice of authority to communicate with.

All of these things require gaslighting. All Fish are susceptible to gaslighting. Famous House and Computer were perfect for this, and it really makes me wish they stuck it out longer. Props to Sam and Ben for not breaking character and finding this out once more.

Challenges like the cell finale and drunk pos are a fantastic contrast, but at its core Fishtank should be about gaslighting because it's funnier knowing the Fish are out of the loop.
 
Chat right now is all wanting Frank to come in as Wild Randy. At first, I didn’t think these fish could handle a Hassle’ing, but they’ve surprised me to be honest. They have a higher tolerance for the shit than I thought they would

Nah, if they bring anyone in it has to be Hassle. Alex will shit his pants. We'll see him meltdown into wild tantrums and try to quit. Frank is too big for Alex to think he can do anything.

The best set up would be to bring him in, let them chill for a few days, and then have Frank reveal to Alex when they are alone that he is Wild Randy.

I don't think Alex would believe him if he just said "I'm Wild Randy". I think Production will have to introduce him as Wild Randy and verify it's him, because of the Jobe gaslighting.

I see what you are saying but I don't know, he's gullable, short fused, and retarded. Frank knows how to play into that.
 
Simbal is demoralized and has given up on the impersonation challenge. Jobe pushed him over the edge and he's contemplating being done. He told Jet in confessional that he knows no one likes him, including the audience. Jet tried to gently explain that Simbal is the heel and popular as a villain.
Simbal is smoking his last cigarette in Yard and requested production bring him more because he's out and Jet in Confessional says to bring him whatever he wants and that they need to stop the piss play because they need the house in tact.

They let a gay guy and Jet's cousin set a precedent about unrestricted piss play and property destruction on week 3 and thought nothing would go south; at this rate they'll get everything with the show correct by season 8 because anyone could tell by Sam's mood today that he ain't exactly pleased with the results either.

They've done a lot better job of balancing coddletank and Fishtank this time. Simbal had no problem with any of it until he was the victim. He's two faced and perfect hate bait for the show.
 
Jobe owes Simbal 5 famous bucks to replace his things that got pissed on and Jet banned peepee poopoo as a weapon officially. So says the Geneva Convention. The jeet looks so defeated tonight.
