With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

She actually said she preferred to stay instead of trying to leave with either Tony or Binx, which Sam told her was cold. Then they said for the "episodic nature of the show" she was going to leave and had to pick one to run after, so she picked Tony.

This is only going to get worse. As they reduce the number of fish, there's just less people for Fatty to get distracted by so he's going to hover around the remaining cast until they finally put him away.

Remember when he showed up for Christmas Eve in season two as Santa? He had an actual role to fill and stayed around just long enough to be entertaining and do his usual gross shtick with unique aspects but not long enough to become unbearable and drawn out. That’s how you use Fatty. Same with how he played king Fattius in season 2.5. When he has a part to act out he doesn’t 100% default on the naked gross annoying act he’s known for. People have been saying this since late season one. He’s good in small doses.

Now that I think about it, freeloaders are always better when given direction. Frank was better when he was acting like everyone’s friend before the wild Randy reveal because we were in on the joke and the Fish had no idea who they were dealing with. The build up was far better than the actual reveal. Alex Stein is usually seen as loud and obnoxious, but him play Alex Diamond gives him some material to work with and a concept to act out. Roles for freeloaders provide structure so they don’t just sit around or flail in desperation to get some content churned out.

Lance and Simon, the first freeloaders ever, were the only ones to ever get direction on camera for the audience. This clearly worked the best and made Lance understand that he was there solely to fuck with the fish and he did so wonderfully because he had the direction to do that.

Frank's Wild Randy reveal is one of the most iconic moments ever in Fishtank. "Say my name, Alex"

He's telling Burt to try and get rid of the elimination token and "I don't think it's too late", to try and make him give it to someone else, like Kawan. Unfortunately this is highly likely to backfire like every time they try to get the fish to do something specific.
