With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

    Votes: 56 7.3%
  • 2 Stars — Pretty bad. Some funny moments, dragged, too many vibe repair days. Barely worth checking.

    Votes: 87 11.4%
  • 3 Stars — Average. Solid entertainment in spots, some good chaos and crashouts, but nothing special

    Votes: 170 22.2%
  • 4 Stars — Really good. Lots of hilarious moments, strong fish personalities, solid content and vibes

    Votes: 405 52.9%
  • 5 Stars — Peak Fishtank / Masterpiece. Non-stop insanity, legendary fish and production, pure chaos

Yeah S3 was always kino even if the RV/Vegas arcs are kind of lame. Assuming they don't fuck it up (its like a 50/50 chance at this point), the edit is going to very entertaining and one that I can finally recommend to people who don't religiously watch Fishtank.

That's actually a pretty interesting question though. Have you guys ever tried recommending the edits of Fishtank to people who didn't watch the live broadcast? Did it work? I feel like they barely ever explain anything in those edits and there's so much context missing from major events that it'd just be confusing for a new time watcher to figure out what's going on. They really seem like they're made for the fans and nothing more.

No, for the exact reason you just outlined. But the premise for this season is so much more clear, and easily summarized in one or two sentences. They had a really solid concept this time around and I hope the edited episodes will be equally as strong.

Ever since the RV trip began Burt has been cracking as if he had been acting the entire time and is starting to break. I never noticed these little smirks until we got the closeup HD RV camera going last Friday, where the smirks were immediately apparent. He's also been making more obvious jokes like "I want the biggest weiner they got... hot dog" and "I just need some meat in me" then acting as if he didn't mean for it to sound sexual. Earlier in the season he said the whole neurotic crazy schizo thing was getting stale (as if he was faking it) and also said he pretended the computer was real even though he knew it wasn't actually AI to be more engaging for the audience. Wish I had clip but this stuff was definitely said. My 160 IQ schizo theory is that Burt understands how weird he is and plays it up for comedic effect, and when the cams went down after the fake ending Burt finally broke character for a bit after he went downstairs. Now that the show is back on he's been hamming it up even harder and starting to break. Also the HD cams give us closeups of his face but so did the PTZ cams so I don't think he's been doing it the whole time.

Burt has been enabled by his peers. Like when you criticise him for being hyper sexual and he simplified it as "just being a man"
or "being sex positive" so I think he definitely is self aware. To an extent.

he’s also been making the sexual innuendos for a while now actually. I think maybe they were just easily swept under the rug because there was a lot more going on in the house and we had a lot more camera options.

My personal favourite was when Burt found out binx had never been with a black man.. Burt said we can change that LMAO… then the lie detector test came back and said binx had been blacked already. And Burt spins around and goes "what!? Awww. I wanted to be your first!"

he probably makes comments like these all the time and it’s normally played off as harmful banter with his colleagues etc.. I think it’s impossible for Burt to be an actor. No actor is going to literally jizz under a blanket and then just lay there in your own sploogers. I think he’s just smiling because the people asking him these wild questions are constantly on the verge of laughter and burts just doing the autistic thing of mirroring them. Despite being incapable of actual laughter.

keep in mind how non verbal Burt was at first. It’s pretty wholesome honestly. The fish are like his extended family at this point. it will take him years to get over this Routine. I hope he gets some kind of intervention because he’s definitely a sex addict.

I didnt even know Binx was vegan until you guys brought it up. Shes made very little mention of it.

I know Binx has stupid blue hair, and looks ratched, but her figure is just way more my type than Mizzy. Its unfortunate, but Mizzy has just really unflattering genetics. She can look good with clothes on, but you know when that shit comes off, its all gonna fall apart. Mizzys personality is unearable too, just the tone of voice she takes when arguing reminds me too much of every girl we dated in highschool.

I can with my wife since she sees it on in the background. She was very much into the Alex/Fat Wife arc and couldnt believe it was going down live lol. But to just friends and colleagues I dont even bother. What I have been able to do is show them the short clips of Fatty falling down the stairs and Fatty getting with a ball in the neck by Hassle, both of those clips have always hit.

Season 3 had a lot of great moments, but also so many missed opportunities. Just imagine how lame it would have been without Burt. He basically held carried the season despite the wiggers total fucking incompetence.

The apple night was the night Alex's wife was there, and I'm pretty sure that's literally what they gave her to eat. Pretty sure they cooked that night, as that was the only night I remember them all eating in the dining room, and they ate family style. I screen capped Binx's apple for the thread because I thought it was funny. I can't remember what exactly they served everyone else, but I remember there being sausage because Burt was being gay and asking if he could eat someone else's.
I remember the production telling the fish to specifically cook meat (and only meat?) that night. I remember thinking that was interesting considering there's a vegan in the house

No. None of the edits capture the lead-in that makes the insanity great. It's the hours of brooding and nontent that come to a head in an instant that makes it. Or hours of Alex repeating himself.

This edit is so good, reminds me of how amazing this season was. Pisses me off even more thinking of how its ending. It would be like if Season 4 of Game of Thrones introduced lightsabres and had Darth Maul as a guest host or something that took questions from the live audience. You wouldnt think well the first threee seasons were good! You would fucking hate the show lol.

It hasnt been that drastic but damn that edit showed it how good we had it for a while.

Can anyone tell me how the adult superstore bit even happened? Did he just ask to go, and they agreed? Sam seemed very put off by the idea :story:

The stream is still down...

I was pretty excited at the start of the RV arc and gave them serious leeway with the spotty cell coverage excuse, but at what point does the show stop being "Fishtank"?

Right now the show is down more than it's live and when it is live it's the "Sam Hyde irl streams with a group of people" show. Let alone the fact that there's been a single camera for like a week and next to no TTS.

Its just not fishtank.

I have friends who only watch the edits and a few of them watched them because I told them about the show. They loved it but it's a completely different thing. If you're a diehard live viewer then watching the edits with the uninitiated is a torturous experience. If you're like me you'll be pausing every 5 seconds to give context and your friends will hate you. I was actually thinking about pushing for those people to watch season 3 live instead of waiting for the S2 edits. During the first few weeks I was kicking myself because they were missing out on so much gold and it would've been a great first fishtank live experience. Now I'm extremely happy none of them checked it out live because of how this season ended.

I don't understand how Blade and Chicken andy were more proficient at this shit even like 7 years ago.

Not to mention Blade was literally blackout drunk during 90% of his streams and Chicken was getting high on meth. They somehow managed to be better at streaming then a sober Sam is lol.

Guys, I'm homesick. I still love S3, I even enjoyed the Famous House 2.0 arc. The overall quality up until Thanksgiving was undeniable.

The nontent around Thanksgiving into the janky RV arc has been painful but I'm not even necessarily mad at the RV arc, or rather I wouldn't be if it ACTUALLY was STREAMING 24/7 as Fishtank is meant to be.

My thoughts exactly:

I was so repulsed by the low quality of the S1 edit I swore off the official edits ever since. 3rd party edits are the way to go with Fishtank
