This is the best ending that they could have had given the circumstances, and it was almost as good an ending as S1. It was definitely a million times better than the S2 ending. It doesn't forgive the missteps this season but it was still pretty fucking good.

Me not having watched for weeks: wait what happened to the house

They had issues which left them unable to film in there, from what we know there were some sort of zoning issues and black mold and as a result of this they had to scrap the planned 3rd act of the show which they spent a shit ton of money on, hiring a 2nd cast to redo famous house with the OG cast being in on it and having to fit in, and instead they had to quickly get an RV and did an unplanned pivot to a trip to Vegas instead of just cutting the show short at 5 weeks.

I understand you. This time there was no proper finale, just them fucking around in Vegas, no big climax or catharsis or anything. Just a drive during which most people were gone and this comical but also sad ending. Just a little bit of funny with no emotional release. On S1 the ending was very uplifting with Sam pulling off the willy wonka bit, Letty being acknowledged in the form of a speech from him and a big monetary prize, and everyone going outside which was visible and audible on camera.

Meanwhile S2 was a disaster but it nevertheless has a proper finale that lasted days and had a build-up even though it ended a day short and the cams were cut as Sam was worried that Shinji was genuinely hurt.

None of that was present this time, just random shit in Vegas and today was just driving around and talking, 0 build up and emotional release. Still fun.

Dude the fact Burt was literally being thrown around the RV and he' s still doing call back bits shows just how good of a fish he is.

A fucking mess, but it was a good season, a good ending. I could not care less who wins and to me, Burt getting nothing feels appropriate. Though he renounced the prize in many ways throughout the show anyway.

Then Sam gives a genuine speech and they gather their stuff and walk out one by one and the conversations and laughter can be heard outside.

Nothing will ever top the Sam Wonka ending with Josie and Fatty. Watching it live was incredible. I was blown away with how perfect it was.
