With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

  • 2 Stars — Pretty bad. Some funny moments, dragged, too many vibe repair days. Barely worth checking.

    Votes: 87 11.4%
  • 3 Stars — Average. Solid entertainment in spots, some good chaos and crashouts, but nothing special

    Votes: 170 22.2%
  • 4 Stars — Really good. Lots of hilarious moments, strong fish personalities, solid content and vibes

    Votes: 405 52.9%

is there a reason why Sam's so against living outside of New England?
im guessing because hes set up shop there. he has his office there along with most of his crew, i imagine its convenient for him having everything and everyone he needs in a small radius. also, hes said before that he doesnt want to live out in the sticks because he doesnt like the vibes and feels like he'd have less fuel/inspiration for his comedy since he'd be isolated from the chaos of society.

Hard disagree that the show needs Sam to survive. It was true at one point, but at now I think Fishtank is probably even bigger than him. On /tv/ the Fishtank threads were going 10x faster than the Extreme Peace thread on release night. A host who is active and engaged with the show would probably be better for it overall than Sam who shows up and has absolutely no clue what's been going on and 80% of the time looks visibly miserable.

Rainbow stripes, rainbow logo
Also, this ad bumper from director cam.

I forgot to mention this in my main post, this is still extremely suspect to me. Rainbow stripes, rainbow logo, and it all ends at the same time as pride month? Very fishy.
Don't forget that all 'finalists' received $8k, the exact grand prize money for s4 they announced on the trailer.

Also, I want to bring this old s4 leaks back that is proven to be correct now. In the leaks, the leaker said the audience is the butt of joke.
The viewers are the butt of the joke on S4.
Jet has heard the thousands of "Just make season 1 again" comments, and he is, at your expense. You'll see.
I wonder if the season ending early is the actual joke they set up for us. Feel free to rate me optimistic for that.

I read someone saying that Luke could do it, and I think that with a little bit of practice he probably could.

I like Luke, swell guy, but whenever production put him up for a gaslight it just seemed entirely transparent to me. Maybe he's just too nice a dude IRL, or just a bad actor. Dunno.

I was not a fan of Alex Stein before S3, but of people that have appeared on the show, the only one I think could be a decent host is Alex Diamond.

At this point I could see them keeping that in their pocket as a cope later on but building ill will with your niche audience as a controversial figure is a dumb thing to do.

Xavier would make a good host if he just showed up for a little bit per day the way Sam does, Alex Stein would be perfect for the job but he has his own career going on so I doubt he'd want to commit to Fishtank that long

Jan playing a different character would probably be the best idea overall. He never seems to run out of energy.

There is still some kind of content coming and this was a gaslight, and the "scuffed season" theme is still going to pay off somehow (unlikely, but possible)
Im really schizomaxxing here, but:
- Jin said he'd do something perverse and get kicked off the show, he does.
- Rachel said the show would be over without her, it was
- Sam being checked out to an insane degree, the show ends early for entirely preventable reasons
- The StoX were manipulated the whole time, with the show ending with daniel being "waped and eliminated"
- Trailer said grand prize is 8k, everyone gets 8k in the end
- "autism sense" girl bailed despite making bumpers, ads, and being in the trailer(she learned it was not a real season, everyone else was down to be subjected to literally anything for 8k)
- The StoX are themed and behave like crypto shitcoins or penny stocks, with their price action governed by a cabal of "whales" with mysterious sources of funds(the fish, funds managed by wiggers, the real prize for this cadre of fishtank fans is infinite fishbux)

I think this whole season was performance art. It was a "rug pull" season specifically designed to imprint on the fanbase that callers are FAGGOTS and should not be enabled and that going back to previous houses / having a scuffed show that operates by pushing things to "go live" as fast as possible is BAD! It was all a huge fuck you to the aspects of the fanbase and audience that Sam and Jet themselves hate.

The degenerates, the gamblers, the gooners, the callers and swatters, the simps, the "WEN LIVE" speedwatcher retards. He told them explicitly "Fuck off and die, this is MY show and I'm going to run it how I please, we're running it professionally now and you'll just have to shut up and wait if you want it. Go watch IP2 if you want scuffed content"

And finally, the stripe. The big red vertical stripe. All StoX to zero. Fuck you.

Also the Season pass going from 60$ to 10$? some kind of way to say "well.... we did not scam you guys, its only 10 dollas".
They were laughing about the "major complicated" major twist.

I'll add some more:
During the investor stream they were excited to bring back the beef bell and doghouse, yet their implementation was very obviously a half-assed joke like everything else in s4. There was no doghouse, and contestants just lied down on a patch of grass for like an hour. The beef bell really led to nothing interesting either, unlike S2. The scenes that Ben was so excited about also were barely present and not nearly as in depth as S3. Sam sitting on a laptop for hours at a time was VERY clearly a bit. He's not retarded, he knows exactly how that comes across.

During both Fishtank Addresses, while mentioning the "legal issues", Sam talks exactly like he always does when he's making shit up to fuck with people. It's not too hard to read his mannerisms when he's on Fishtank for whatever reason. He looks back at Jet to ensure he's using the right verbage, but in a deceptive, humorous way, not for reassurance over the correct amount of vagueness.

Looking back on the tone of the room when they brought up the twist during the investor stream, it really seemed to be something big to them. Jet said "it's pretty major", and they laughed for like 10 seconds straight and then went dead silent while going super vague.

It's a shitload of coincidences and it's incredibly convenient. But it's undoubtedly a very bizarre way to end a season considering many people are going to cancel their subscriptions now.

Sam likes to do his laugh for effect, he does it all the time. Jet mimics Sam, his surrogate father.
