Greg did what TJ was supposed to have done in season 2. He had an actual character arc and became a new more outgoing person by the time he left the tank. If you compare Greg day 1 on Fishtank very anxious, a bit shy and nervous where he was doing his Mr. Beast shtick to Greg now it's clear as day the show changed him as a person. There's a very real argument to be made that Greg for a time was the main character of the last half of S2.

All 3 (full) seasons so far have had a really great subarc of "adopting" one of the freeloaders and trying to make their life better and it ending up being a way more compelling story than any of the Fish. S1 was Sam taking Fatty under his wing and convincing him to get his life together (new house, losing weight, etc.), S2 was fixing Gregs failing streaming career, and S3 was Luke who had burned out on art and Sam giving him an apparently pretty prominent job with MDE.
