  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

Ahhh jeez dood, I guess it's like maybe don't wear retarded balenciaga clothes and act like a retarded wigger and maybe people would respect you more. Also running the show properly would probably be good. Oh yeah and not being a sensitive faggot when Jin mentioned R9K and you booted him off the show, killing the whole vibe that was building. That would have been cool.

They said as much during the audition streams as well. Once they have an idea of what kinds of people are available to them in the casting pool they say they will know who may work well with who and then the kinds of people they cast will determine the overall mood of the show. Even at the last(I think) audition stream they were undecided on weather they were going into a hell-house or a friend-tank direction this time.

This may be an unpopular opinion but hellhouse always gets boring after like an hour. They can only go so far without incurring legal liability. Friendtank (which often turns into Enemytank) however produces long running kino that is better suited for the 24/7 format. It’s not fun to watch them laze about during the day waiting for Sam to come make them do boxing for an hour.

The show has always been grounded in reality-tv expectations (social dynamics, drama, betrayal, exaggerated shipping), and the torture stuff should really just be window dressing. Not only does it get boring after an hour since there’s only so many ways you can cook a fish and how they react, but it’s also just unsustainable for prod and the fish as a whole.

Like, as a side rant, how much cooler would it have been if in season three Frank Hassle actually stuck with the whole buddying up to the other fish and turning them against each other shtick? It’s a unique use of his character, and it would have made the Wild Randy reveal all the more impactful to the fish. They could have drawn that arc out to a week if they wanted to, and it would actually have been interesting, maximizing the potential of both worlds.

Instead we get typical hassling. Which ok, fine, but there’s nothing new there. Fish freak out, they might throw a punch, they’re told not to anymore, and then they just shut down to preserve themselves or they leave. Both are antithetical to content.

They overthink things. Literally all they have to do is throw some eccentric retards in a house and slowly crank up the tension on them until they start fighting with each other and going crazy and the majority of fans would be completely happy with it. They have an easy proven concept but they act like its complete torture to do it because they are le high brow artists. Not blatantly rigging everything and letting there be a legitimate competition aspect to it would also make it have natural tension and engagement.

They fell assbackwards into a golden goose but they're the biggest retards on earth so they can't even take advantage of it properly.

I think what kills Sardine tin and the like is the fixed camera. I get it's a limitation you can't really do anything about but a lot of the fun of fishtank is catching idiots in the act by chance.
