i liked the newspaper. it was always a small fun event watching the fish read the paper in the morning. some of them came up with some actual funny shit to put in it, too.

with the way JoJo fans glaze Steel Ball Run, I am expecting great things. I’m sure there will be a couple hours of downtime in the tank to cram in some paraplegic horse racing.

One of the many issues the show has always had is getting people up and moving in the morning. Doing something small like the newspaper every day is a great way to get the fish up and together at a reasonable time.

I do hope they carry on with the newspaper, a minor competition in the morning, or a rotation of tasks/small competitions every morning to make them wake up, head to the communal space, and start interacting for the day. The biggest barriers to that are the wiggers, really, though. It seems like, for the most part, they all stay up until the fish go to bed - out of fear they'll miss content - and beyond huffing galaxy gas instead of sticking to fixed rotas, so they're usually on worse sleep schedules than the fish are.

While they have tried to get the fish to go to bed at reasonable times, especially in S3, I don't think they'll ever truly appreciate the importance of getting them to maintain something close-ish to a normal schedule. The biggest whales, and the most active chatters all seem to be NEETs, so don't care about their sleep cycles, and are willing to stay up til 5/6am watching Fishtank if it means they can watch content live.

The people who have jobs, on the other hand, can only really watch marathon late-night sessions on the weekend, or irregularly on days where they're working. I imagine that this portion of the fanbase is probably where most of the show's revenue comes from, however, as they're going to have more disposable income than the average viewer. Jet, Ben, and their ginger groupie would do well to ensure that peak hours occur at times that this subgroup would actually be watching instead of hours that only work for people like aperture/oddbod.

It's also a really stupid time killer that fish can talk about while everyone slowly gets moving in the morning, including the basement wiggers. Comfy fillers like that are good for everyone.

Time has shown that Fishtank is their everything. They're in an abusive relationship and won't be going anywhere, there's no reason to cater to them.
 
hey jet, i am feeling generous today, so in the rare chance you are in the thread right now (everyone knowns you lurk everywhere people are discussing fishtank to get mad at, don't lie) here is a free idea you can steal and give me 0 credit because i don't care:
People keep asking for the sharks to come back, they were after all one of the few genuine highlights of S1 and they added a sense of mystery and enigma to the show that so far only the very first part of S2 (before the "reveal") managed to capture. i also known you don't want to bring the sharks back because they are better suited as a fishtoy so that you can cash in (again, don't lie, we all known that too). So i present to you the perfect compromise between the 2 worlds: i call it "actions", so you see, just like the viewers can send in TTS or A.I noises, they will also be able to send for more fishbucks , written "actions" for the sharks to do, if the action is impossible or you just don't feel like doing it for whatever reason they get the fishbucks back. this will add a whole new level of interaction to the show and hopefully finally bring to life the so often ridicularized motto "you control the action". also its something that to my knowledge , no one, not even Ice poseidon, had done before, it definitely would bring in some viewers

Exactly this. Their entire life is Fishtank, Fishtank-adjacent content (Streamstars, ex-fish/community member livestreams, spin-offs, etc.), the site's chat, the official Discord channel, spin-off Discord channels and group chats, and meet-ups with other community members. If there is something Fishtank-related, they'll be there, no matter how tenuous the link is to the show.

Most of this group only have season passes when they're gifted one, and will maybe pay for the occasional vertical bar spam when their tugboat lands in their accounts. Yet, despite this, Jet et al pander to them because they screech the loudest.

People like aperture will continue to throw money at them, because people like him crave attention. With how boring he is, the only way he can gain attention is by being a whale, and he probably hopes that at a certain point, if he just gives enough money, Sam and/or the wiggers may start to like him and ask him to be their friend. Similar to how Goblina seems to think if she shows up at enough Fishtank/MDE-related events, she'll get in with Sam and the wiggers - even to the extent that she seems to buttonhole anyone who's ever stepped foot on set on Fishtank to try and befriend them... all made extra tragic when you consider that she's the wrong side of 40.
 
gotta say, fishtank has probally one of the most mentally ill fan communities i have ever seen, i am not sure if there is even a precedent to this, you could maybe suggest anime or MLP or even homestuck or some random tranny game i barely known about. but there is something about the fishtank one that goes beyond autism into nearly schizophrenic territory, such as the people talking religiously in the official fishtank chat off season about random nonsense involving clans and other shit. like i think the closest thing i can think of are crypto communities in twitter. The fact these people can also recognize literally whos who have never been in the show in the first place is wild too, like, who the fuck is Sharpfart?
Also all of these people look genuinely subhuman, there isn't a single "fishtank fan" (as in the ones who participate in events and shit) who looks like a normal presentable human being, they are all fat/skinny , deformed and ugly

It's the kind of autism that has no redeeming qualities or charm. And I know that sounds oddly specific, but every time I read a post from someone who can't understand nuance they always are up to some weird freak shit and they always listen to that podcast.
