Three months is a massive gap in internet time. Got a feeling He may not actually be coming back. However a bigger factor is Shotamenco will likely never live down everyone knowing he's into kids.

Holy fuck. Clayton says he's going into something in the computer science vicinity and:

  • Is having a lot of trouble with calculus/trigonometry
  • Doesn't know appropriate freeware to use an always on computer as network storage and is asking for advice instead of solving this problem with his favorite distribution's package manager

Pardon my ignorance, but how important are calculus/trigonometry for someone looking for a lower level IT job? for example lets say pedmenco wants to get into network management for his local elementary school district, will he need strong math skills?

Depends on if he'll be staying low level, I suppose. And you don't really need the degree/certificate for low level

But making sense of how computers work and making sense of how math works tend to go hand in hand

The trigonometry isn't super important. But Flam will have to take up to Differential Equations if he wants to graduate with a computer science degree. Diffy Q is right behind Thermodynamics in terms of difficulty, so if he is struggling this early into the math part then he's in for a rough time. Granted the most important part of his degree is coding languages, but the math part of that kicks in with Data Structures.

It's not that he will use trig as such but is that he should have the kind of mind that can deal with it situations involving a lot of intedependent variables and suchlike which is in fact important if he is doing serious computer science stuff. He could probably be a pajeet tier cut-and-pasting stackexchange code monkey but he is not cut out for an actual CS degree calling it now.

Clayton here claims he got a call from a program he was on the wait list for, and he also claims he's having trouble with calc/trig and has a c++ course coming up. He says he's been going to school for years.

I think the program he got a call from was his parents asking why he's still failing intro courses 3 years into a late start at college and wondering why the fuck they should keep throwing good money after bad
