I want to say they were well prepared after seeing the first hurricane this year.

Perhaps no news is good news?

I genuinely don't understand why people still live there.

Vacations? Yeah, it's got Disney and universal and shit

Live there? No way. That place is the water equivalent of hell.

Instead of fire and brimstone, it's floods and windstorms.

I was down at the st. pete pier for the laughs just before Helene was supposed to hit, and in typical florida fashion no one was taking it seriously. People were out having fun in the pouring rain, a van even pulled up to the parking lot and a group of middle aged guys in swimsuits got out and started playing on the playground. Something tells me I won't be seeing that this time.

Why the fuck does everyone keep asking if people in Florida are ok? I'm in the midwest. How come nobody ever asks me if I'm safe from hurricanes? Because I live in a land-locked state, I don't count or something? I'm starting to feel pretty excluded here.

I've been following this on the news, I hope you guys are OK we don't get weather like this where I live and it looks hellish.

I guess this is about Tornadoes for you, and I only ever hear about them if they where horrifically nasty but I always hope people are OK I've seen videos of that and it's a meat grinder if you are out in the open.

often times my wife will get worried about storms because despite living in the state for about thirty years she's not a native
I pointed out that this was a time where I _wasn't_ disagreeing about her concerns.

I'm in the Orlando area and we're (last heard) getting Cat 1 effects, which is a SHITLOAD more than we usually get.
A lot of Central FL's plan for storms is "ehh, it probably won't hit" and then they just leave all their shit out everywhere.

Evacuated Sanibel. House (secondary residence) was completely destroyed/stripped down to the studs from flooding from Ian. Was recently rebuilt and is so beautiful. Hope it holds up. So sorry for everyone’s pain and loss and same goes for animals domestic and wild.

From the East Coast, I'm okay... for now. We're used to it and not used to it at the same time since we're not natives. I helped my mom move our plants and patio chairs in the lanai, charged up our storm lamps, and cleaned the garage to fit our 2 cars (with the help of an uncle whom we always have an extra room for, God bless him). All the supermarkets were absolutely mobbed, and work was no exception! Worst we can expect is street flooding and some minor debris flying around since we're about 15-20 minutes away from the beaches, but I'll be saying my rosary for everybody regardless.

Same can be said for East Coasters when major hurricanes hit from behind, lol.

Good point, Tennessee's having problems with Helene's leftovers.
BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!
That's it! Unleash your inner Florida Man!
