Has anyone else had a disastrous food delivery experience? I’m talking wrong orders, missing items, cold food, and just plain old bad customer service.

What was the worst food delivery experience you've had?
Which company or restaurant was involved?
How did you try to resolve the issue?
Did you get a refund or compensation?
Would you use the service again?
Let's hear your horror stories!

It would have been better if you had posted this in general discussion
True, I guess it will get moved.

My own is my food not getting delivered at all. The driver allegedly came and could not find the place and went away. They tried to tell me that I gave them a wrong number so they could not reach me. But they had fucking called me before to tell me they were missing an item.

I got my money back, and a voucher I never used because I never ordered with them again.

Other than this, when I used to order food at 4-5 am in the night like 15 years ago. Maybe some places had 24/7 restaurants at that time. But for me and my friends, we would literally be paying 15 euros for a frozen pizza delivered by some dude in a shitty car, probably cooked in his home oven, because there was nobody else that would deliver.

Anyway, I have two stories (I have more but am pressed for time)

1) Three times my stuff (groceries, frozen gym meals) has been left at the wrong apartment entry.
I make it a point to have "Am on ground floor. If unsure, call me and I will come to the truck" in the delivery instructions.
Nope. Those instructions too hard for Sanjeet so they dump my shit at a random entry point and then I have to find it.

2) This apartment complex is super retarded. A visitor can call any apartment number within the complex from any of the entry points, but only apartments within that building can unlock the door. Dumbest system.
UberJeet is at the wrong door and calls through the intercom so I press the unlock.
Nothing happens because he's at the wrong door.
I don't hear the normal noise for my door (you can hear it open over the intercom) so immediately know he's at the wrong door. Leave to go find him.
Meanwhile, he tailgates in behind someone else and is now in a building I can't get access to and I didn't know which one.
Anyway, he obviously can't find my apartment number so just dumps the food near the entryway door, on the inside of the door, and leaves.
So I spend 20mins trying to get into a different building in my complex just to get my food.
It was UberEats - I had a photo with an arrow and written instructions for which part of the complex I was in.
Again, with the instructions of "call me if you're lost".

This is why I don't bother with food delivery anymore.
It's not worth the headache.

I wanted to have time to properly format and collaborate with some users as this is my first time posting a thread.
people literally post shitposts as an entire thread
unless your making a lolcow thread or a thread for a general all encompassing idea it doesnt need to be expertly formatted.

Good know thank you

Isn't food delivery overpriced? I haven't gotten so much as a pizza for years.

I only trust delivery from pizza places that have their own in-house delivery. Just like how you only trust buffets if they're Chinese. It's just the way things are. I usually do take out.

I apparently owe ubereats 50$ for food that was never delivered however it was picked up from the restaurant. The driver apparently took a photo in front of my house dropping it off then left with it. I tried contacting ubereats and telling them I even have it on camera and to this day I still can't get hold of anybody to resolve it.

Food delivery is such a waste of money. Why do it? You're getting what is essentially a limo for overpriced slop.

Never do doordash. They're hiring essentially contractors that can't be trusted to do any other work. You have no idea who is handling your food.

pretty much, mcdonalds, subway and similar big chains seem to have certain low hiring standards and people will actually call you to find where your house is even if your address is given to them. for such big companies i don't get how satnavs aren't a thing.

. Remember that time Vegan Patriot's dog pooped worms all over someone's order and she delivered it anyway? She went right on delivering food until her maggot-infested car was finally repo'd. Imagine getting groceries that smell like cigarettes and blunt and wondering why you keep catching a faint whiff of poo. Then you find a maggot larvae. Her car seats and carpets were actually crawling with them.

Door dash rely got me in the early part of COVID because it took a while for me to realize that they also increase the prices of everything like 15% on top of the delivery fees and shit. Got real tired of that basically instantly when I figured it out.

I absolutely despise everything about food delivery services. The consumerism, the reliance on shitty drivers to not fuck up with your order, the fact that illegals have absolutely taken over food and grocery delivery, the lack of transparency over the outrageous fees and markups, the laziness of not going to a restaurant yourself, the data collection done through the apps...

I could go on and on, especially regarding the illegal immigrant drivers, as I and many people I know have had first hand experiences with them. That being said, I've had only one experience where I had a family member order on Uber Eats for me, due to me being drunk and hungry. I felt dirty for paying so much extra for a sandwich.

I ordered a pizza one time with Door Dash from a place that's about 25 minutes from me. They have pretty good pizza. It's a mom and pop style place. Not corporate chain shit.

The pizza wasn't kept flat in the guy's vehicle. The cheese from almost half the pizza had run over onto the other slices. Now I have had this happen with a place that does their own delivery service, and it has happened quite a few times. I just call up and complain and they send me out a new pizza. But with Door Dash there isn't really anyone to complain to. So just ate the pizza. Now I know there is a complaint system on Door Dash though. I just use that.
