obligatory in view of the nature of this thread

I'm just peeved that, even if they can't stop people from watching the old DVDs with that episode, the Simpsons producers have officially disowned the top 25 tier episode "Stark Raving Dad" with such classic lines as "Just because I'm wearing a pink shirt doesn't mean I'm some kind of... pink doughnut eater", "Judging by his outlandish attire, he's some sort of free-thinking anarchist", and "You mean there really is a Bart? Good lord!" plus the Lisa's Birthday song.

So this is just stuff that's banned because it's pedoshit? Who cares about that? What about the cool banned stuff?
Not sure any actually banned, but I imagine few companies see any worth in selling movies only of interest to pedalos.

The Birth of a NationBanned in several American cities for its racist content and portrayal of the Ku Klux Klan
The films in OP were never banned, just mostly not carried by retailers because of dubious content. Melody can be hired or bought on Amazon and has a nice Bee Gee soundtrack, although OP doesn't put it in the banned category.

fairly sure Pretty Baby isn’t banned anywhere I can think of and is a critically well regarded drama. I have seen it appear on regular normie TV a few times. Personally I find it horrifically slow paced and dull, but I think the subject matter is just too grim for me.

Ngl I'd be interested in discussing lost media and films. Unfortunately, most are lost for good reason so a lot of discussions end up revolving around shit like OP and I don't know much other than the basics.

That being said, here's a wacko one that wasn't pedoshit, Heartbeat in the Brain. Its a documentary about people who drill holes in their heads. Its still around, apparently got a screening somewhere in 2011.

OP is either an obvious glowie or a retarded pedo, but isn't In The Realm of The Senses just a very violent and pornographic samurai movie from the 70's? I always was under the impression that it was the Japanese equivalent of the Caligula movie with Malcolm McDowell.

There are very few movies that are outright banned in the United States. Most of the banned films are banned from de facto corporate censorship like Song of the South and the original unedited theatrical cut of Star Wars while the rest are either literal hardcore CP or were locally banned in specific jurisdictions in the first half of the 20th Century.

For fuck's sake, A Serbian Film is legally available in the United States as are most of the movies OP listed. Blue Lagoon was even on Netflix back in the early 2010's.

Even The Birth of a Nation is still legally available and that one was seen as extremely racist even back in the 90's and 2000's. Granted, it's in the public domain and is one of the most important films in the history of cinema so it will always be in print even if it's just a historical curiosity or for film students.

Yeah, basically. I seem to recall that there was a scene where a couple of nude street urchins briefly appear to taunt Sada. As I understand it, this was common of children in the lower class of the time period. Supposedly there was a part where she pulled the boy's dick as punishment, but that wasn't in the version I saw when I rented it from Hollywood Video.

It's available on Blu-ray from Critereon, so it's not banned at all.

Isn't "Pretty Baby" legit CP? Sometimes films are banned for a good reason.

It is one of those "WTF Hollywood?" Movies where Brooke Shields (who was 11 or 12 at the time of filming) does full frontal nudity. I'm all for creative expression and there's such a thing as context and sometimes actresses can lie about their age but fuck that movie.

Wasn't the girl in the movie Blame It On Rio 17 years old when she did the nude scenes?

It's pretty obvious the entire reason the movie was made was because of that, the director of the movie was an old guy who also directed Singing In The Rain weirdly enough, I'm assuming he was a "dirty old man"

Yeah, that was surprisingly a common thing back in the day. Many teenage girls would lie about their age since nude scenes usually earned you a slightly higher paycheck and most of the time the directors and producers would take them at their word if they looked old enough to pass for 18 or 19. This was common not only in the porn industry and in the "grindhouse" independent movie studios but even in mainstream Hollywood back in the day.

I still don't know what the fuck was up with "Pretty Baby" though. Even for the 70's, it was fucked up.

In the case of Blame It On Rio though they knew she was 17.
