We've all heard at least one story of one person who described themselves as firmly on the left, but then violated the group moral codes by not having the correct opinion on things like trans, immigration, whatever subject where non far left opinions are taken as proof of Nazism. Those with those incorrect opinions then get booted out of their leftist social circles and become social pariahs, often leading them to become better acquainted with or even welcomed by those who lean more to the right.
