Formula 1 Discussion - And favourite driver?

So if going longer is faster why did Merc call Bottas in to cover Vestappen. The undercut wasn't a risk. I can take a good guess...

Oh and here we go. Fuck sake.

OMG you guys best driver of all time, not just some lucky prick.

And thus ends my interest in this race. Time to go do something else with it on in the background.

Liberty Media might as well be the fucking Lewis Hamilton Defense Force

Of course having muh woke black driver winning everything will play a lot better than some white Finish or Dutch driver winning in the states. Plus Hamilton is the celebrity type of sportsperson they love rather than that type who turn up compete and generally keep themselves to themselves.

VSC started right when Hamilton was a few corners away from pit-entrance and ended the moment he got back on track... now, I do not think this is foul play, but holy fucking shit is it ever convenient, huh?

Also poor Vettel, I missed the start, but he was doing fine until his pitstop. What little potential for success he still has with Ferrari was ruined by that pit crew.
Edit: Apparently, Vettel asked to be given soft tyres, but they gave him hard ones instead, trying to play it safe. A shame, really.

If that stop had gone well and he had been put in the softs that safety car would have been a gift to him but Ferrari strategy once again poor and execution even worse. He'll be ready to jump into his shiny new green car. Hopefully they do the job for him in 22 and Alpine does the job for Alonso and we can have a somewhat contested season.

I love the narrative that's coming out now that Hamilton is the most criticised driver in F1 history with a wink and a nod as to why (yes this was a really said on sky F1 this week). Yeah. Fucking. Right. You people suck his dick constantly, and when he does fuck up you're coming up with odd explanations as to why it isn't his fault really. It almost sounds like he's trying to start a narrative so when he does leave there will be some "proud Kang pushed out by the vial racist fans" headlines as an excuse for liberty to clear house, go woke and completely turn those evil white supremacists out of the sport. This all follows a pattern and I have been in more than enough fandoms that have gone this way to know exactly how this progresses.

It's tiresome, really.
I guess pointing out that his many titles, victories and records are directly tied to being in a car that ran nearly unchallenged for over half a decade is akin to telling him to go back to the cotton fields.
Also, questioning Hamilton's achievements in this way is the worst thing that has ever happened to any driver ever.

Well Norris pointed it out and got harassed by Hamilton fan boys until he made a grovelling apology.

Strangely all the stories where he spoke out about the social media harassment he received have been memory holed. Except this section from another article about his apology for not caring about guy in best car, with team constantly crippling his team mate winning.

If Hamilton got even half the hate Prost gets, then he might have a point of getting unfair levels of critique.

If there's anything to make me hate this fucking guy, it's not his skin color, but how everyone ties everything back to his skin color.
Hamilton could get a thousand victories, as long as Mercedes is the only car this quick, it will mean nothing. Hamilton's legacy will never amount to even half as much as Senna's.

Everyone with even a passing familiarity with Formula 1 and it's history knows Hamilton isn't up there with the greats. The drivers on the grid know it and the pundits do too but they know to even utter such a sentiment will get them hounded by the woke mob who have glommed onto Hamilton.

I mean fuck even the Williams that damn near drove itself wasn't as dominant as that Mercades is.

Just look at the number of 1-2 finishes previously dominant cars have had, it's nowhere near what the Mercs are getting and that's not because the 2nd driver in those cars was bad.

I never heard about "The Bend" had no clue! Thanks for that informative info. Do you think that track would produce good racing? And what will the weather be like in November? Would that be like early spring for us who live in Northern Hemi?
There's not a lot of info as to who designed The Bend. All I know is that Tilke had nothing to do with it, so make of that what you will.

I haven't watched a lot of motorsport there, other than a couple of rounds of Supercars, which utilise The Bend's West Circuit. Some spectators reckon that The Bend is kinda boring, with few passing opportunities ... though how much of this is down to the newness of the track and how much is down to the excessive aero on the cars is up for debate. The two SC rounds at The Bend this year produced some pretty good racing, though.

Off-topic, but SC started going down the shitter when it stopped being V8SC IMHO.

Assuming that the proposed FIA Grade 1 upgrades go ahead, I'd expect a hypothetical Australian F1 GP at The Bend to use the International Circuit. I suspect it'd produce some good racing; turns 13 through 17 are vaguely reminiscent of the Adelaide street circuit.

The track itself isn't exactly picturesque - it's a bunch of concrete and bitumen in the middle of farmland that just happens to be on the main highway between Adelaide and Melbourne. Definitely one of the least pretty racing circuits in Australia.

As for November weather, it'd be similar to that experienced during the Adelaide F1 era. About an 80% chance of sunshine and temperatures > 80F (27C), or it could absolutely piss down with rain like it did in 1991.

Some fun light reading: the origin story of the Australian F1 GP.

So this thing with Lewis not signing, then mentioning he might not be here next year, Toto looking for a successor etc. what do you think is going on? I mean the story is "plenty of time to talk after the championship done", but I really wonder if Lewis is holding off cause Toto could be done end of year. You'd think they were butt buddies the way it comes across sometimes! LOL

How's this for a fun lunacy thought that just popped in my head after a toke. Lewis will sign, but for Red Bull!! I don't think Max would be too concerned and would probably relish the chance to destroy Lewis in same car, but I mean they need a driver for next year and Lewis has no contract. Mateschitz has a shitton of money and I think he'd have no qualms throwing 50 mil at Lewis to become part of the Red Bull brand. That'd be fucking out of left field if that shit happened. You heard it here first! I am surprised no one in the F1 media has even mentioned it, even if just to stir shit up.

I'd love to see it, or Lewis retire. I don't think I can stomach another year of him being in the spotlight.

thats because the last strategic mind they had has been a potatoe for about 10 years or so.

Well MSc is the better comparison, and he would win races if they could fit his life support into the Merc...

Its all so boring, they have to cut 90% of regulations, i dont care if drivers die, they get paid well enough for such a risk...
