Formula 1 Discussion - And favourite driver?

As a McLaren fan first and foremost and above any driver, this was solely on the team. I can't fault either driver for feeling down with this shit. Team management really needs to get some balls and make the tough decisions themselves. It was pathetic that either Stella (who I really like) or Zak didn't get on the radio right away and told Lando to let Oscar by, regardless of whether they let them race afterwards or not. I prefer to have the drivers fight it out, but it was the teams' strategic mistake that landed them in that situation and if they wanted to unfuck it they're the ones that have to say it outright.

Even though I thought Lando should have decided for himself to immediately let Oscar through, I can't fault him for resisting. He's a driver in the middle of a race, closer to Max than others in the championship, mind clouded by adrenalin, knowing he can win. Of course his mind isn't going to do the logical thing and think "Oscar has helped me before and I will need him again", so he needs the team to make the call for him.

This kind of feels like Mclaren in 1999 when they gave Coulthard the win in Belgium despite the fact that Hakkinen needed the points more. Which then led to Hakkinen make a mistake in Monza cfrashing out but profiting from Ferrari's weakness. At that time Mclaren was lauded for not putting any driver on number 1 status (unlike Ferrari) though it nearly backfired. Still these radio message were hard to listen to. Norris should have just let Piastri pass on the last lap, kind of like how Barrichello gifted Schumacher a win in Austria all those years ago

I can't see Norris winning the title, he'd have to outscore Max by around 7 points for every remaining race and that just isn't happening. But they do have an outside chance of the constructor's championship, especially with Perez being Perez, so I don't blame them for focussing on that

It’s the same as when Daniel Ricciardo was doing such a terrible job at McLaren that the team paid him tens of millions to sit at home as they had Oscar signed.

Who cares if you’re a good team mate and cohesive for the team, you have to perform or the team will cut you no matter how much money you bring in sponsorships. It’s cut throat, the drivers know it and have grown up in that environment their whole racing career. During the Netflix trailer there was an interview with Daniel and Lando and even Daniel said he respected Lando for “not pitying him”.

McLaren is asking both drivers to play nice has no bearing on the wcc and it’s only going to affect the drivers on the wdc. Although fuck the wdc, just let Perez keep driving for rbr as McLaren wcc would be amazing after the cost cutting years plague of issues.

By seasons end Piastri will be the #1 driver at McLaren.
idk if Pastry will be McLaren's #1 driver by the end of the season, but I'm confident he'll have at least one WDC title by the end of the 2030 season. Actually I kinda hope his first title is in 2030, as it would be 50 years since the last time an Australian won (Alan Jones), making it a slightly bigger deal.

Audi have decided they wanted to go full clown about their F1 aspirations.

Hope you like pitting for full wets in Qatar, because those are the sorts of strategy people he's going to put in place and back.

Elkmanm himself had to interviene after that. I think this will be Leclerc last Ferrari contract
Since Ive been out of the F1 loop for a while and only followed headlines, is Leclerc the real deal or not? Quick blips following media over the years showed me he was one of the few drivers to not cuck to Hamiltons BLM faggotry, forcing me to root for two of my most hated things; a Frenchman and a Ferrari driver.

Leclerc the real deal or not?
He's fast, and in the right car, can certainly fight for the title. He's had some screw ups, but a lot of his poor results also come down to Ferrari shitting the bed.

The first half of 22 had him in a title fight that you could make the case was effectively won at the start of the season - with the opening race having a Red Bull double DNF and in another race, Max's car combusted. Then Ferrari happened: Spain, LolClerc DNF. Baku, double DNF. Monaco, Silverstone, Hungary - retarded braindead strategy. The definitive end to his challenge came in France, with him needing P1 every subsequent race to win, and someone else taking the fastest lap from Max. He spun out and crashed.

He's been haunted by Sonichu since then.

He's had his best years where he should be developing himself taken by bad team management.

Leclerc also had a bad habit of underperforming in Quali and only very recently managed to finally win the race that he always wanted to win, just in a manner that was remarkably oldschool and boring for the TV audience.

Leclerc is fast over a single lap, can win an occasional race, will not win a championship due to constant errors from both him and the team. The 2022 French GP sticking it unforced into the wall. The 2022 monaco qualifying sticking it in the wall and damaging the gearbox for the next day. Spinning at Imola 2022 chasing Max too hard. Those put pay to any chance of contesting that season after he had the perfect start.

I hope Magnussen stays in F1. Not a great driver but a very entertaining one who spices things up.

Fuck Ocon. He is even more disliked than Stroll, even in France.
