No video clip of the crash?
The official German livestream showed the aftermath of the crash, and the replay showed what happened up to the point of impact with the track barrier
But the seconds from impact to standstill, I have yet to see any footage

EDIT: t-19h27m, track barrier repairs where Maini crashed are underway. Shoutout to everyone who's doing the needful at the circuit

don't forget it's 24h Nürburgring time this week, with Verstappen participating in an AMG GT3
race start on Saturday at 3 PM local time
I have been watching all qualifying and the race and I must say it is so superior to F1 that I think I will entirely swap over to watching WEC, NLS and IMSA instead of Formula 1. (Or maybe the Formula Super from Japan, which is also pretty good)

Just the fact that they race through rain means it is actual racing and not the pussy sport that F1 has turned into.

t-19h11m, the German official stream is interviewing in the HRT Ford garage. Looks like Maini went off-track at the same place where the #911 Manthey Porsche did just before him. Apparently both accidents were caused by an oil spill.
Saar, your honor is redeemed, this is no longer an unforced driving error. Sucks to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

EDIT: t-19h05m, the Team Verstappen Mercedes is doing a pitstop. No driver change, Gounon is doing a double stint

EDIT: t-19h00m the #67 Ford Mustang previously leading the race has pitted, currently leading the race is the #34 Aston Martin, 25s ahead of the #3 Team Verstappen car. But, again, different pitstop schedule, so the Team Verstappen car is still the net race leader

t-18h59m, the German broadcast is now doing analysis of Arjun Maini's crash, perhaps they show proper footage
cc @Vertigo @dick brain

first Estre's onboard, in which the oil spill is extremely hard to see

The moment you are committed to turning in is when you actually can see it, pretty much no chance to save the car

.... although no footage from Maini is shown
very conspicuous

EDIT: t-18h52m, Gounon lost a place to the #80 Mercedes, very close racing between 2nd, 3rd, and 4th right now

EDIT: t-18h50m, 45 seconds time penalty for Connor de Phillippi in the #81 BMW in 4th place, for violating double yellow. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place are still within 1 second of each other on track.

EDIT: t-18h45m, the time penalty has been awarded for going 1.8 kph (1.1 mph) above the speed limit. Well, it's not the 60s anymore, motorsports organizations take safety extremely seriously.

t-18h33m, Connor de Phillippi in the #81 BMW M3 Touring just overtook the #3 Team Verstappen AMG and the #80 AMG within just one minute, getting into 2nd position!
Considering that this car was the result of an April Fools joke from 2025, good job!
(the car is a wagon)

t-18h30m, John Miller in the #925 Porsche slid out and went into a wall unfortunately (slid out in a section with not too much runoff area). It is indeed raining and the track is slippery
Shame, it's a really pretty car, but it looks like the damage is not too severe

t-18h27m, looks like Mattia Drudi in the #34 Aston Martin (leading the race right now) has traction issues. The track is indeed slippery.

t-18h26m, two Mercedes AMG (including Team Verstappen) are in the pits after just 4 laps, and other cars are coming in as well. Looks like a tire change, it's time for intermediates.
Misha Chaoroudin in the #632 Porsche slid out and nearly collected another car on the way to the pit entry
de Phillippi in the one-of-a-kind BMW M3 Touring wagon is also pitting

t-18h23m, the #130 Lamborghini that led the race after a jump start is now having tire damage, got into the gravel a bit, and is limping on the track, very unfortunate

t-18h19m, the Lamborghini made it into the pit. Jesus Christ, the damage looks terrible
1778956854358.png
They're moving the car into the garage for repairs
1778956926993.png 1778957012745.png
bringing out the EXTRA LARGE DUCT TAPE to save time

EDIT: the race leader in the #34 Aston Martin is pitting after an 18 lap stint, so the SP 9 cars will get back into the race lead, that's the #80 and #3 Mercedes
view of the sunset from Lucas Auer driving the #3 Team Verstappen car
1778957152781.png

EDIT: t-18h12m, Auer has overtaken Schiller and is now leading the race

EDIT: t-18h9m, the #130 Lamborghini is back in the pits and back in the garage, mamma mia
A part of the car is on the track
1778957499755.png

EDIT: t-18h7m, looks like the #277 BMW, the oldest car on the track, seems to have an oil spill issue
1778957619190.png
Great view of the sunset from the helicopter cam
1778957706175.png
Many cars are now slipping off the track at the YouTube corner, incl. the Aston Martin that led the race, now also the #44 Falken Porsche which unfortunately scratched the track barrier a bit, that part of the track must be slippery as hell

EDIT: t-18h3m, ooof, the #33 Audi slid off there and spun out, it's now sitting dangerously on the track and a Porsche already had to commit to evasive action
1778957854645.png
Good job to that Hyundai driver for successfully evading that car, but that is certainly not something you're happy to see

Quite the rain in that section

Now at the t-18h mark I'm taking a break from coverage :)
