F1 raced a few more times at Kyalami. In fact the returned to South Africa in 1992 and they also drove in 1993 before never returning because of the organization (in real talk: corruption) of the race event. If you are interested I have several races on Rumble. this here is the 1993 South African GP F1 1993
Oh shit yes of course. Completely forgot about early 90s.

Thanks for the link, I should upload what I have on Rumble someday too. Somewhere in the mess of data and drives I need to deal with soon.

Also, shout out to Felix Rosenqvist. Another Swede not good/connected enough to race (or do enough to stay, like Ericsson when he sucked there) in F1, drinks the milk, gets the ring and kisses the bricks. Crazy end, I only saw the last 2 laps but that was worth it.
The whole race was pretty great, will probably go down as a classic. Lots of drama, plenty of great moves (I don't really care about the lead change stat because it was a lot of same team shuffling to save fuel) and the closest finish to date in the history of the Indy 500. The extended highlights are up on youtube.

Leclerc will never win a WDC so i guess being a model or whatever the fuck he does while larping as a f1 driver will work well for him after all. Verstappen is a Senna level asshole so thats why people like him and the team builds around him meanwhile Alonso is just an asshole and should be thinking in getting the fuck out. Its time

Over 18 minutes of radio rewind, crazy

EDIT:
0:35 & 1:39 Lindblad on the grid
Lindblad: "It's not going in gear." [waves hand]
Radio: "Clutch lagging. Try again."
Lindblad: [tries] "Okay, tell me what to do, please." [waves hand]
Radio: "We are trying."
Lindblad: "Okay, they're pushing me, what should I do?"
Radio: "Turn off, turn off."
13:21 Stroll radio
Radio: "Lance, gap to Bottas is 29 seconds. He's 29 behind."
Stroll: "I'm completing the race for the mechanics. That's it."
Radio: "Yeah, I totally understand, Lance. Totally understand."
Stroll: "And Lawrence. And Lawrence. ... I'm completing the race for the mechanics and Lawrence, that's it."

the continent's biggest motorsport event always has been the Safari Rally.
Odd coincidence: The Algorithm has been feeding me old films of the Safari Rally as of late. Almost all of them were made by participating manufacturers, so they're basically half-hour long ads. Though some are better at hiding it than others.

1977 Safari Rally film by Ford. This feels more like a documentary than a sales pitch. In-car footage is especially fun. Bare hands, short sleeves and no helmets.

1979 Safari Rally film by Mercedes-Benz. M-B really lays the sales messaging on thick, Stunning aerial shots but lacks in-car footage. Transferred from film, so it's nice and clear. The W123s almost blend in with the Datsuns and Fiats, but the SL coupes look utterly ridiculous (spoiler alert: they're less ponderous than they appear).

Would they return to Kyalami though after the horror in 1977? Does that track even still exist?
Yes, and it's currently a Grade 2 FIA track. It was renovated a few years back. The only notable event it hosts is the Kyalami 9 Hours GT race.
