Formula 1 Discussion - And favourite driver?

It was the second time in my life I said 'holy shit that guy's dead',
I said that when I saw the fire ball at the back in Bharian 20. Still surprised that it somehow wasn't a fatal (or even that major a set of injuries).

So Renault is gonna sell Enstone again right?

Nah, they'll just fire everyone again and carry on as before. They haven't worked out yet that just slapping the name of their performance brand on it doesn't make it perform any better.

Edit: Breaking news... oh what a suprise...

It says resigned, but the statement from the team principal makes it sound less than voluntary.

Pewis has never been in anything but the most dominant car for years, and can't function when he isn't. The Merc this year is the third-best car at best. Compare to latte boy who had to spend years in a Williams shitbox with Latifi as a teammate, and can actually handle a car that's not perfect. The difference between Pewis and George this race was stunning, even if George did do his typical overdriving and missed out on a podium because of it.
I can't help but think some of these F1 head honcho's aren't properly grasping that not only are F1 drivers past their best by the time they get to 40, some are a shadow of themselves by the time they are 38.

When I heard that Ferrari had supposedly signed Hamilton on a multi-year deal, starting in 2025, I was and still am absolutely convinced that they have made a terrible mistake and Hamilton will not trouble LeClerc next year, as he is no longer the same driver he once was.

Agree, who are they going to have as the "first driver"? Ferrari always has a number 1 and a number 2 (even when they say its equal, it's always obvious).

Are they going to fuck their boy Leclerc for a has been race baiter or are they going to buck break hambone and having him do nothing but bitch and cry to the media about them causing a cultLT tiffosi fan war?

Since its ferrari I can totally see them favouring lewlew in team orders and car design to end up losing Leclerc (hes taken enough shit from them, having them bring in a new driver and dropping him to 2nd choice would be the final insult) and having hambone bitch, moan, and leave anyway because they still ain't winning titles.

There is no winning move brining lewlew into ferrari, the only way to win would have been to not do it at all. Like what's his role?

Leclerc ain't a rookie that needs hand holding, these are his prime years (bad timing when Max is in his prime). Hambone is famous for avoiding any car development or set up work and pretty much did nothing towards it during the dominance era so not going to get that from him. Nor is he about to start pulling genius strategies out of his ass because well he just doesn't do that.

The only way Hamilton in red works is if he's doing media and branding for them without getting anywhere near a car.

"A whistleblower has told the FIA that Ben Sulayem allegedly intervened to overturn a penalty given to Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso at the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

The claim is in a report by an FIA compliance officer to its ethics committee, which has been seen by BBC Sport.

Ben Sulayem and the FIA have not responded to requests for comment.

The allegation made by the whistleblower is that Ben Sulayem called Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamas bin Isa Al Khalifa - the FIA's vice-president for sport for the Middle East and North Africa region, who was in Saudi Arabia for the race in an official capacity - and made it clear he thought Alonso's penalty should be revoked."

Chadlonso has the sport rigged for him for the 3rd time. Insanely based.

Seems plausible since Aston Martin's title sponsor is Aramco, the Saudi state oil company. The Sauds wouldn't be a fan of their car getting a penalty at their GP.

Though that penalty was utter bullshit and its a good thing it set a precedent going forwards.

And like Horner (thus far), the towelhead will have nothing bad happen to him even though what he is alleged to have done should amount to him being banned from F1 for life. Doing something that alters the outcome of a race, match or game should always be dealt with swiftly and firmly. Letting stuff like this go just makes everyone involved in the sport, including the fanbase, wonder what other chicanery is going on to affect the event.

Like I said about Horner, when you have that much money and power you can get anyway with anything unless solid proof causes the societal/media pressure to be unbearable and something finally gets done.

The sand nigger will still be in charge and it will get swept under the rug likely. It does seem like there is a lot of stuff going on in F1 so early in the year. We always get drama, but the 2 events thus far are pretty significant. What more is to come? Its getting to the point, since F1 likes to tout itself as entertainment these days, where they don't need any on track action, just let all this dirty laundry keep coming out and that will be all that gets talked about. LOL

Only if he takes some important people with him. Like Newey. Which I honestly don't see. Newey isn't the youngest anymore so I would wager that Newey will retire once his Red Bull contract expires. He has enough hobbies like designing boats

More allegations are forthcoming, the woman will be named and a 19 page story about it all, coming very soon to a newsstand near you! I am gonna assume the woman on the cover is the one who he fucked around with. Be kind of weird to put a different female on the cover, don't you think?

Though it should be said Business F1 is the ultimate nonsense tabloid in F1.

Honestly, this season looks to be far more exciting off the track than on the track.
I really, really hope not. Can't I just enjoy a sport without the media having to turn it into nonsport related drama constantly?

Yeah I have been seeing that. It also only has a 5,000 circulation. So, hopefully we will get the article. I did read that it was leaked over the weekend, but I couldn't find it. Not sure if they were confusing the texts leak with the article.

Either way, when it hits and assuming it gets into public, the firestorm will be huge. Apparently Horner met with Max's agent today in Dubai. So, let's see if Horner shows up at the race this weekend or not.

These "Max going to Mercedes in 2025" stories are absolute garbage to fill a news void.

Clearly Max will be at Redbull in 2025, the earliest I could see him leaving is for the 2027 season if Redbull fuck up their own engine in 2026(which I think is actually more likely than not).

Considering Newey has spoken about a regret of not going to Ferrari, if Redbull's engine is a dud in 2026, perhaps Newey and Max go as a package together to Ferrari, to replace Lewis Hamilton, for the 2027 season.
