Formula 1 Discussion - And favourite driver?

Any words on Albon and Gasly switching cockpits again? Albon isn't doing too hot in his current cockpit and Gasly wasn't too bad (Well, before crashing in Mugello).

On Tsunoda, as long as he doesn't turn out to be the next Yuji Ide, it's fine.
From what I heard Albon will be safe for at least this season. But for 2021 it seems to be an open competiton between Albon and Gasly. Though who knows maybe Tsunoda gets a chance as well. Gasly doesn't seem to do so well in the Red Bull enviroment

And on another note the FIa has put the political messages on the podium on the Verboten list. Let's see if Lewis actually can keep it to himself this time (especially since the Breonna case has made a sharp 180)

Yeah, changing drivers during a season is bad style (unless they fuck up seriously like Kvyat)... I guess Albon and Gasly might switch cockpits next year, maybe Kvyat gets the boot and Tsunoda is in. Would be nice to have a Japanese driver who actually gets shit done.

He'll bitch and moan about it during regular interviews. Quite telling that, once again, this political activism bullshit is in support of a case that turns out to be a nothingburger.
Maybe my opinion of Hamilton is too low, but I expect him to go for the "Breonna was killed by cops and now it's a coverup, anyone who says otherwise is a wacist" route.

Hamilton just does whatever the black celebrities in America do since he is desperate to be one of them. He's done the clothing line, the rap album, the scent and now he's desperately clinging onto their latest cause. When guests were allowed he always had the celebrity entourage of random black z listers and anyone else more famous he could pay to come along with free tickets. It's quite sad to be honest, he's that insecure about who he is he has to try desperately to be someone he really isn't. Stevenage isn't the ghetto Lewis.

Man, Hamilton can't stop breaking those safety regulations can he.

If Hamilton retires after this season, he will spend most of his time being a professional celebrity for the next 30 or so years. He will be a persistent presence in every shitty tabloid's headlines by doing random attention-seeking events and dumb greenwash crap because either he or his handlers think it's the best thing for maximum fame.

Damn, 810AM race start for me this go round. I haven't been up this early for an F1 race for awhile! But like a trooper, haul my ass out of bed in the hope that it was worth it and we get another Monza.

So, Lewis seems to have fucked up again? Please give him a stop and go. That will hurt the most.

Telling difference between Hamilton's crying about a penalty and Ricciardo going "my bad, I'll just have to go quicker". With the performance of those Mercs Hamilton probably could have gotten 2nd but just spent the race crying instead.
It's a crying shame. Ricciardo is such a likeable fellow, why couldn't he get Hamilton's cockpit at Mercedes all those years ago, he'd at least be someone who I'd enjoy see winning.
That exchange on the radio, where Hamilton whined at his box crew, was simply appaling.

And go fucking figure, the supposedly best pilot of F1 (if you go by him breaking record after record) and he doesn't know a single thing about the rules. He doesn't know where he can do his practice starts, he doesn't know that he can't just do the 10 seconds penalty at the end of the race, what a fucking joke this guy is.

And I have to say: Gasly was pretty good this race, too. He's outpacing Albon, no way they won't switch these two next season (or at least send Albon back to Alpha Tauri, dunno where Gasly might go).

Yeah, I always think it's ridiculous every time Hamilton demonstrates he has no understanding of the rules of the sport and has to ask on the radio.

Hopefully McLaren will build a good 22 car. That's a team that needs to be up front fighting, plus Ricciardo and Norris are both genuinely likable guys who you would be happy to see winning.

I heard that Hamilton doesn't do a "trackwalk" since a few saisons ago. He is reliant on his track engineers. If that is really true then no wonder he needs so much guidance from his team. And I agree I would have loved to see Ricciardo in a Mercedes cockpit. Just think of all the shoeys we have missed :)

With his constant whining, I genuinely wonder if Mercedes would have him under contract still, if he wasn't about to break every record. Ie: If there was more competition for the first spot and Hamilton was not as dominant as he is, I am pretty certain they'd dropped his ass for his whining alone. I can't stand it, constantly bitching at his crew who are, for all intends and purposes, the very reason why anyone gives a shit about this guy. I doubt that 10-20 years from now, anyone will attribute his winnings to his skill.

The German commentators said that, if that's true, it's just shamefully arrogant. No wonder he got bitten this race. Man, can you imagine him fucking up again next race, getting two more points and actually getting banned for one race? I'd laugh my fucking ass off.

That's right Lewis the stewards are out to get you, nothing to do with you breaking the rules through not even knowing the rules of the sport you take part in. The race director's order even stated "for the sake of safety" so he's quite lucky it was only 5 seconds per infraction.

In 2007 he was already complaining "They don't want me win because I am black!" Just take the penalty say you fucked up and keep going. I mean he is a real fast driver so he should be more relaxed about it. Imagine if he got a penalty right after the race and he is escorted from the podium (like it happened to Verstappen a few times)

Take note all other teams, all you have to do to get your driver out of penalty points is say "we told them to do it" and boom no longer in danger of a ban.

They should give him 2 points for whining and insinuating they are doing it to him on purpose without foundation, just to slow him down.
I agree entirely, they fined him and put points on his license when he joked that the FIA was racially biased, this time he has actually broken the safety rules and didn't even query the team telling him to do something wrongly - surely the points should stand because he doesn't know the sodding rules.

Exactly. The team isn't sitting in the car, he is. It is his duty to know and follow the rules, if he has to ask whether he is allowed to do something that he should know he isn't, no answer by the box crew will take away his responsibility inside the cockpit.

All this does is highlighting how little this dunce understands about his own sport. Well, that and his childish attitude. Just icing on the cake Ricciardo got a 5 second penalty and reacted by going "Well, gotta go fast then." a few laps later.

Ricciardo saying that is the ethos Lewis should have been taking, even if it was a begrudging 'well guess I got to go fast now, not what I wanted to do' it's better than just having a strop like a 4 year old who has been told there's ice cream at home, so they can't buy one from the ice cream shop in town.
