They were in the right place at the right time.At least San Andreas is objectively great.
I legit cant understand how Fortnite is still a thing. Or Roblox for that matter.
Ironically, despite Fortnite being plenty successful just by ripping off Battle Royale games, Tim Sweeney is really jealous of Roblox because it was more popular than Fortnite during COVID lockdowns.
He's since tried to chase the success of it by overhauling Fortnite with non-violent game modes for younger and casual players; no one really cares and the typical shooter modes remain the most popular by a wide margin.
For more on how that's going: Fortnite Festival, the rhythm game mode, and Lego Fortnite, a Minecraft clone, each had their own battle pass equivalents you could only progress by playing their respective modes.
Very few people finished these compared to the normal battle pass, so they've made playing other modes like Battle Royale also count towards them, in the hopes you'll want to buy the music and Lego crap passes after finishing them without trying.
They also reduced the price of the music pass, and they're soon going to sell a bundle of all three passes. They're trying pretty hard to justify the continued existence of these non-shooter modes.
They just essentially killed Rocket Racing, the racing mode, by announcing it would no longer receive large-scale themed updates like all the other official modes do. It's a waiting game to see if other modes are similarly written off.
