Why you ask?
King of the Hill is an American Anime.

Hey just checking what game version you guys are on? I ask this because mid match on the jam session mode while I was wasting today i got a weird random DC and then when I checked shop it randomly gave some fucking bizzare 503 error only to say there was a new update in my notifications. I can'tfind fucking anything about any update today anywhere shit's bugging me.

So, who's given OG Season 2 a shot yet? Played it a bit myself, it certainly seems to attract all the sweats; I'll be grabbing the umbrella and completing the quests, but I don't think I'll be playing it casually.

Also, some more skins that're going to be dropping over the next few weeks got leaked; see any you guys like?

So far OG season 2 is pretty good; ironically, it's the only season I hadn't played back when it came out.

It's super fucking satisfying killing fleeing sweats that are using that weird infinite sprint slide exploit thing that I Still have no clue how the fuck to do. I don't think I ever brought that up until now but FUCK those guys man. Fuck the ones that somehow dart up and one hit kill you with common gray weapons immediately after they find one specifically. Bonus points if they somehow get a killshot on you after you close a door to put space between you and them through the fucking door.

Also fuck aim assist on console right now (which i play because broke) It's been like i've had to fight against it to land a shot the last several seasons. I love when i'm fucking shooting at someone and then it locks on to BEHIND WHERE THEY ARE RUNNING

OG season 1 when i crammed in questlines a few days ago was fucking filled with that glitch where you're in queue for like 5-10 minutes nearly every fucking time and every time I got in a lobby it was either all bots or sweats/cheaters with hacks of some kind. No I'm not going to believe for one second the guy that was running away from my shots after I got sniper lasered from him across the map towards endgame turned around put a bush on and headshot me from actual miles away immediately after he got far enough he knew I wasn't going to be able to touch him at all. No I'm not going to believe the fucker that shot me somehow when I was squatted inside a building on top of a shelf out of eye view even if you were far off in the distance did so legitimately either.
Let me tell you though, when I was doing the godzilla mode shit before it went away it was so fucking shit how other players like locked on snap and instantly somehow and killed me whenever they became godzilla but when I become godzilla I have to do the little ping roar and then shoot the direction the shots are coming from because everything is fucking tiny and sometimes invisible if it's far away enough.

I hope whenever I get to playing they fixed the fucking insane 80% bot match issue thing.

Eh, I personally find the map to be alright, but - and this is a VERY hot take - I prefer the gameplay of newer seasons. Not saying OG is bad in general, but it feels like it was added more for the nostalgia nerds and tryhards than anything.

@The Lawgiver I've noticed some similar stuff myself; I've been one-shot by shotguns more than once, and I've had more than one occasion where players just seem to know where I am... even if I'm camping in a bush miles away. As someone who plays more casually and doesn't really care about Victories all the time - I'm more for completing quests and story stuff - it can get frustrating when you just get lasered by some sweat the moment you touch the ground. It's pretty bad in OG, currently.

As for the Godzilla stuff; it was certainly an adjustment. Only got a chance to play as him once - mostly because the game usually spawned the portal on the opposite end of the map - and I didn't get a chance to do too much sadly, as I got lit up the moment I spawned in. Managed to get a decent number of people, and I even completed all the quests for it, but it was only thanks to luck; kept getting staggered constantly and I swear there was at least one guy that was immune to the laser.

So I've been addicted to Fortnite since mid-January and I have feelings. Currently I've played a lot of modern season (Zero Build) and a lot of OG Fortnite.

Is there a way to choose which "season" you're on or is it just on rotation in OG?

It's hard to tell what I like more. It feels like modern has more going on like how you can grab the cars and drive, but I feel like OG can have more varied game turnouts. I had one match that came down to a Sniper contest between me and one other player, for example. In modern season though it feels like its always just "if there's less than four players, whoever has the typhoon blade is gonna win. If everyone does then it comes down to mashing."

Before you say "scrub complaint," I've won more VRs in modern than in OG.

(And yeah I did see that one video about how to win against Typhoon Blade users).

At the same time in OG I often find myself missing the mobility options, especially when a chest is in a high tower and I'm having a lapse and forgot building was a thing, or when I forget to account for the storm.

I like to switch back and forth though, because I sometimes just like the variety.

I have not tried a lot of the other modes yet. I quickly didn't like Rocket Racing. I'm curious what "Murder Mystery" is.

OG changes the season it represents every two months; if you want to go back to a specific one, there's probably a creative recreation out there. The Reload game mode has a map rotation every 30 minutes.

Seems like reload is their answer to Splatoon I guess?

So what then is "Murder Mystery?"

The main reason I have not played it is part of me suspects it might be like a Fortnite version of either Gmod Murder or Among Us and both are games that are far more playable with a microphone so you can discuss things, and I lack that currently.

I'm having a helluva time completing the battle pass this season. I consider completing the battle pass getting all the bonus rewards up until the 'flashy' skins. I think you actually have to do quests in all the game modes to finish the pass unless you play daily.

So, what's everyone's thoughts on Lawless? Good? Bad?

Played some matches, got a few victories; heists are a mixed bag, as they provide good loot, but just about everyone and their dog are gunning for them. Still, they're worth going for, as you can get a ton of stuff if you play your cards right, and they're necessary for being able to buy gear at the black markets. The markets themselves are great places for finding a ton of gear quickly; yes, they cost a lot of gold, but you can get geared up quickly if you horde enough gold in-between matches. If grabbing/spending gold isn't your thing, then grab some thermite and bunker down; heists can get very hectic very quickly, especially since the main villain - the wolf mob boss Fletcher Kane - can spawn in any one of the bank locations when the heist starts.

Speaking of dogs, there's a large number of dog skins that got released; aside from Fletcher Kane in the Battle Pass there's also those four other dog skins that got released as a bundle in the store. As for the other skins, they're fairly middle of the road; not all that bad, slightly confused as to why Sub-Zero is the Tier 100 skin - props that they put the frozen skull/spine as his backbling - but I'm not a fan of the rapping pickle. Who apparently has a rivalry with T-Pain, by the way.

Man, this game is weird...

Anyways, most of the gunplay this season is okay; Mammoth pistol is high-risk, but fun, and the new assault rifle has a VERY fast TTK and good accuracy. The laser is really fun, as it has a faster TTK than the rifles, bigger magazine, and higher range, though it has a cooldown mechanic and limited energy - helps that the laser and rifle are fairly common. The baseball bat it a bit annoying, as it's fairly similar to the Typhoon Blade from last season, minus the extreme jumps; faster movement while equipped, fast and high melee damage, that sort of thing.

New POIs are decent as well; haven't explored the mansion in its entirety as of yet, but the other three are fun to run around in. I'm a fan of Crime City myself, though I wish it was bigger/taller; decent local to drop in, but I feel like there should be more, you know?

Word of warning is that the quests are a bit bugged this season; one of them in particular, the story quest with helping Valentina break into Kane's vault, is notoriously buggy, as you not only have to be the FIRST person to talk to her in a match - not helped that Outlaw Oasis is a popular drop spot - it's also supposed to be done in conjunction with one of Skillet's later quests, and it apparently glitches out if you don't do them both simultaneously. There's also the risk of the quest not activating at all; I've landed a few times, and the quest just never started up for whatever reason. So, RNG on top of RNG; not a great combo.

Anyone else got any thoughts?

Why do they hate women so much?

If I'm honest, one thing I have not liked about Fortnite since I began playing is the melee shit. Maybe I'm just a scrub but it feels like endgame (unless you're playing OG) always comes down to having the overpowered melee weapon (Typhoon Blade last season, bat this season). If there's two players left, the one with the bat or the sub-zero gloves is gonna win. If they both have it, then its gonna be a coin flip.

This is why I sometimes prefer playing OG. It feels like endgame there can be a lot more dynamic, despite the overall game being much simpler.

The melee weapons are definitely frustrating to play against; it's possible to win against them, but you need to get the first shot off with a very high DPS guns - either an SMG, AR, or Laser - to burst the enemy down fast enough before they kill you and maintain accuracy throughout. It's baffling why Epic keeps shoving them into the game, since they make for a very frustrating meta.

Ironically, I've had similar issues in OG; almost every gunfight I've gotten into boils down to the Tactical Shotgun, and other guns just can't keep up the DPS for the most part. Feels the same as the melee weapons in the regular game, sort of; there's a focus on CQC and movement.

It's kinda worse this season because there's now three melee weapons: the Kneecapper, the Sub-Zero Gloves, and the Scorpion Gloves. I myself don't find the Scorpion Gloves all that useful but other players apparently do. On top of that I've had mixed feelings about the actual guns this season.

The Scorpion Gloves are honestly pretty shit; the melee combo itself is decent, but they lack both the ability to run on water like the Sub-Zero Gloves, and it's ability isn't as useful. You have to be both super precise with the chain - it's slow and takes a bit for it rewind - and the hitbox for it is ridiculous, as it has to be dead center on someone AND can't have them behind or near anything, otherwise it won't pull. The Ice Slide is just better, frankly.

The Kneecapper is just overpowered, though; increased melee range and speed, increased movement speed and jump height while decreasing stamina consumption and I think eliminating fall damage, it has a charged attack that has ridiculous knockback - just won a BR by knocking someone into the storm - and you can sprint at full speed while charging it. On top of all that, it's ridiculously common.

Seriously, who designed/balances the melee in this game? I get making it strong to compete with firearms, but making it outright overpowered while most guns can't compete is just ridiculous. You can beat it - the Pump n' Dump is good at close range, as are some other guns if you can get lucky, but that's just the issue: you have to get lucky enough to get some good guns/shots off before the damn thing kills you near-instantly.

Makes me wonder about the next season; it's apparently a Start Wars mini-season about a month long or so, but... I'm hesitant.

One thing I will say in praise of Fortnite is, I love when you find an arcade machine and the title on the machine is a reference to one of Epic Games' actual games from back when they were called Epic Megagames--so far I've spotted Jazz Jackrabbit, ZZT, and I think I spotted Zone 66. Wouldn't be surprised if Xargon and Jill of the Jungle are in there too.

They should make Jazz an actual skin or make his gun an actual weapon for a season.
