Patch notes for today, not including the expected rotation stuff:
All hands, all hands! There’s still time to pre-register for the Free-to-Play launch on April 16, so be sure to do so here if you haven’t already, and pass it along to anyone who hasn't yet.

Each pre-registration helps push the community closer to the next goal - if you pre-register before April 16, you’ll get every unlocked reward even if the milestones have already been reached. The first two rewards (Spray and Banner) will be granted as each milestone is hit, while the Snowstrike Hero reward will be granted on April 16. See the FAQ for more details.

Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue where Storm Shield Defense bases could load incorrectly, causing player builds to disappear and environment objects to reappear.

You should no longer get stuck in a Waiting state when matchmaking after leaving a Mission early.

The Plays Well With Others Challenge now correctly progresses after completing a Mission.

Party members will no longer load into their previously played Mission and will instead join the party leader’s selected Mission.

Fixed an issue where idle kick timers in No Fill sessions incorrectly followed Fill session rules.

Limited Time Mode sessions will now wait for all team members to load in before starting.

Mitigated an issue where players were unable to adjust Defender ammo amounts with a controller.

This can now be done by using the analog stick.

Trees in Grasslands, Forest and Tropical Biomes now animate correctly in response to wind.

Fixed an issue causing Beehive Husks’ smoke effects to appear blocky.

Ongoing Known Issues
We've temporarily disabled the Shop and V-Bucks tabs in Save the World while we work to fix an issue. Both tabs will be re-enabled in the v40.20 update.

Note: This applies to the tabs within the Save the World Lobby only.

Other ongoing and newly identified issues can be tracked on the Fortnite | Community Issues Trello board.

They said they fixed the storm shield bug as well, mine still have a bunch of extra trees in them but no structures seem to be missing.

Save the World is now free to play. You can now walk around the inside of Homebase. If this is too slow you can hit tab to use the menu like before.

Defender posts have been removed in favor of letting them walk around with you and shoot zombies. You can still have up to 3 but it's buggy and only letting me use 2 right now.

If you already had Save the World before you also get some free goodies. Founders still get vbucks. And there are probably tons of new bugs waiting to be discovered. Hopefully the one that resets your storm shields isn't one of them.

You can get a free Outlander Jess skin by playing a lot of Save the World.

I'm honestly in two minds about hopping back in at this point; I mean, STW is fun, but after all the crap Epic's done recently makes me hesitant. That, and I've been seeing a lot of shit from Reddit and Founders going after new players for whatever reason, not to mention dealing with AFKers on my end.

I would take everything reddit says with skepticism, it's reddit after all. No one in-game can see if you're a founder or not, if you're concerned about that. The AFK teammates are definitely a problem sometimes but defenders just got a huge buff that makes solo missions way easier, especially at low levels.

Personally my issue with this game is that the progression is still all over the place. Ventures and good SSD builds let you skip most of the main story but eventually left me in this awkward position where I've done almost everything in the game, but I can't fight the Storm King because I still have like 10 pages of main story to do first. There's still a decent number of weapons and heroes I don't have yet but most of them aren't very good so it's kind of like what's the point.

I also did not appreciate having all of the trees and rocks respawned in my SSDs which definitely fucks with the zombies' pathfinding.

Save the World is now free to play.
i've been playing it for a bit and it's enjoyable, if confusing at the start. there's so many materials and currencies and items and schematics to juggle it's kind of overwhelming. but after completing most of the starting quests i'm not confused anymore, so i guess it worked. my biggest gripe is how fast the weapons degrade. it feels like you get at most 2 or 3 missions out of a single gun, which is kind of annoying for how expensive they can be to craft. i've also looked through the collection book at the different heroes just to see what different builds i could do, and most seem pretty lackluster. the raw gameplay is fun, though.

That's pretty much how it is unless you go for an ability based loadout or just kill all the zombies with traps.

So, there are 5 tiers for weapons. Copper, silver, malachite, obsidian/Shadowshard (you get to pick one when you hit 4 stars. Shadowshard is usually better), and Brightcore/sunbeam (brightcore if you picked obsidian and sunbeam if you picked Shadowshard). These ores will (usually) be the rarest thing needed to craft guns. They will usually spawn in caves so whenever you see some, break it. The ore that spawns depends on the power level of the area you're in.

You can also get ore by recycling weapons, so you can also farm it by killing glowing animals and then if they drop a good weapon, keep it, or if the weapon sucks, recycle it for the materials. You do not need to finish a mission to keep farmed materials, so if you need to you can just fuck around and farm whatever for 20 minutes and then leave the mission. Also sometimes mist monsters will drop ores.

Over time you will be able to build up a huge stockpile and this will be less of an issue.

A lot of them do suck lol. I mostly play run and gun missions where you have more freedom to do whatever but when I do play the defensive missions I either use a Teddy build or a constructor build with tons of traps to kill the majority of the zombies.

I've never been a big StW player, but as a founder, I always enjoyed cruising through the easier missions to get some free V-Bucks. The new update makes this even easier with the defenders now following you around. I think the number of defenders spawned depends on whether there are other players in the mission. When I played solo, I'd get all three with me, but in missions with three other players, I got none.

PRO TIP: Any husks your defenders kill count toward daily missions like "kill X enemies with SMGs," making it much easier to breeze through those goals.

New defenders are fun except their kills don't count as your kills for some quests like storm chests.
Straight up you can do a storm chest and if they kill the mist monsters at the end you will see the quest instantly FAIL and deny you the rewards. Stupid.
But I'm leaving 3 sniper defenders equipped most of the time and having fun with my teleporting retarded death squad.

I noticed they don't count for eliminate and collect either so if you're not careful they could kill everything and leave not enough zombies for you to meet the objective. I still like them though especially since it's pretty hard to find teammates for ventures if you're not playing rescue the survivors for whatever reason. I've been trying to experiment and see what gamemodes they're best in but mine are still bugged and I can only use 2 defenders at a time instead of 3.

Guy on reddit asks for trading to come back, immediately gets told no:

There has been a slight change to how power levels are calculated. The top 3 items in your backpack are no longer considered, although this may or may not be intentional.

A very long rant was posted on reddit about the new defender system, and epic responded saying they will be buffed.

Personally I don't think they're that bad but I wouldn't say no to a buff.

Also some skins might be getting cheaper, this is mostly speculation and not confirmed so take it with a grain of salt.

So I'm actually starting to get a grasp on the building mechanics in the game; completed a few more missions in STW, still got a few pages left in Stonewood, but I'm actually getting a better grasp on how to play. Loving playing Ninjas, looking forwards to some of the event ones, also looking forwards to unlocking better weaponry.

Question: are there any weapons in Fortnite with infinite durability? Or at least a way to repair weapons? If there is, I haven't found it yet.

EDIT: Would also like to complain a bit about the Storm Shield Defender missions; I find them to be a royal pain in the ass to complete, mostly because I keep running out of building materials and ammo. Just completed the 5th Stonewood one after failing it twice; at the least, I'm learning how to funnel enemies and exploit the pathfinding to lure them into traps, though I also had issues with the game not letting me build traps sometimes. I think I just need to find a good mission to grind materials on, really.

Nitter / Xitter.
So it takes 8 months to remove a real man who murdered and chopped up his underage girlfriend's songs and emotes from the game
But it took 2 days to remove Peacemaker (a stupid cartoon character) doing a vague swastika.

They are even leaving them in if you want to keep the songs of a child killer afaik, if having "OG" stuff is that important to you I guess? 0 morals. Remove this retarded anime nigger killer and his songs that talk about killing girls.

Patch notes for today's update:

Standard Perk: Vital Bond

Commander Perk: Vital Bond+

Note: The ”Wolf Snack” Quest to feed Wildlife has been auto-completed. You’ll receive its rewards after completing the Questline.

The returning hero sucks, don't worry about her too much. I'll be excited to see how the defenders are now (and if I can finally equip 3 instead of 2).
