A friend dragged me into this game like a year or so ago and I was initially playing it because 'haha shiddy fortnite" but then I found out underneath the layers of clickbait there was actual plot and deeplore shit hidden within the map itself that would change overtime. To anyone not paying attention some of the map changes seem random but they are actually hinted at ahead of time usually. I've seen shit foreshadowed several seasons ago come to fruition several god damn times in terms of loreshit and I gotta say whoever the fuck is behind fortnites plot must be extremely fucking dedicated to it to some degree but epics marketing team seems really reluctant to just let them be full on open with the autistic levels of lore hidden under the surface of this fucking shootbang game. They seem to actually Be giving the team a bit more freedom in terms of lore delivery because the trailer for the current season is actually literally just the culmination of the aftermath of the galactus fight causing reality to destabilize, and the several audio logs and DLC trailers posted on social media for crossover characters which in canon were people Jones either abducted or hired and threw into the timeloop hell island to prevent people from escaping it. Last season's trailer was a similar situation too IIRC. There's still shit thats hidden within the game itself but things are thankfully getting a bit less clickbait-y in terms of fortnites actual marketing, though that's pretty much just forever tainted it's reputation as a game.

So I walked up on my nephew who was playing Fortnite. Visiting for the evening. He told me he was having a bad time. So I did this really really fucking loud:

Minus the hat. Pretty sure he's going to screw me over in a will reading someday. Worth it.

I first played Fortnite back in 2018 for a day just to see what all the hype was about. At the time, the game felt unfinished. I understood why people enjoyed it, but I wanted something meatier.

Flashforward to June 2021 when I redownloaded it because Rick from Rick and Morty became a playable character. Three years on, the game is in a much better place. There are quests you can now work on during matches to help you during the lull between fights. Events on the island, including massive game mechanics seem to change weekly or biweekly. There are NPCs to find, speak with and often fight. All in all, the game is much better now than when I first played it during the height of its popularity.

Same. I played a bit back in the day and it didn't really grab me, nowadays I'm doing dailies and saving up stars for the Superman skin.

We're about two and a half weeks from the end of the current season.

I definitely miss the UFOs just because traversing the map without them is so painful. Especially when you're in a rush to get to a rift before it closes.

I am enjoying the punch card system for the most part. Doing a character's punch card for the first time is a ton of fun. Doing it for the second, third... tenth time because its part of the daily/weekly punch card is not. Fortunately, I have done relatively few daily/weekly cards and I'm already well past level 100.

Best weapon of the season is definitely the Sideways Scythe. All the sideways weapons are cool, but the scythe just adds so much to your movement toolbox I pick one up every time I see it.

Speaking as someone who won once in chapter 1 season 4, I like your funny words magic man

>AGGRESSIVELY RIDICULOUS HYPE FOR MORE ANIME SKINS?
>BELIEVE IT!

I'm not in any measurable means a Naruto fan but I've been chuckling like a madman ever since this was announced and "leaked" a while ago. I've really fallen in love with the idea of Naruto running around with a gun in his hands and default dancing. Hilarious.

I feel ya, shockwave Launchers are fun but nothing beats extraterrestrial aircraft superiority. I've won games with that thing.

Yeah XP has been pretty great so far. It's far better than grinding in imposters mode for sure.

I dunno, the Sideways Scythe and by extension all of the sideways guns feel really clunky for me. It shreds health to bits of course but so does a shotgun or any gun at close range, and with a gun you aren't locked into an incredibly long attack animation.

EDIT: I got Sakura, That way whenever I get curbstomped I can't get mad because It will be in-character

Knowing nothing about Fortnite's story, I just assumed he was always character.
He's been a character since a few seasons ago, actually. His face wasn't shown so people assumed he was just like voicing a buff robot-looking guy. Him taking off the fucking helmet revealing him to literally have a fucking real ass head under it thats just his VA was entirely fucking unexpected, though.

So Chapter 3, Season 1 ends in two weeks. Overall, the beginning of 3.1 was pretty rough. The map was sparse, the quests were of a generic "Do [X] 10 times" variety, and, as a result, every game played out essentially the same way. It might've been the closest thing to a pure Fortnite experience, but it just wasn't fun. However, over the last three months they added a ton of new shit to do, built new towns in formerly empty landscapes, and added new quests and game mode variations to shake things up. Its not quite back to where it left things in Chapter 2, Season 8, but its a lot closer than where it started.

That said, I still haven't figured out what the dragons are there for.

After 3 long months, Season 1 is finally over, and Season 2 is out now.

Ooo Tanks and armored battle buses? C4 Bombs? Full on WAR with the Imagined Order? This new season is sounds like it's gonna be the best one ye-

Oh.

Oh right.

Y'know realistically speaking, since Epic is a Globohomo megacorp, it was going to virtue signal about the conflict sooner or later. Funny how, that it conveniently does so right after the trailer drops for a their currently RESISTANCE-themed Season. Seems to be working, their social medias are doing gangbusters right now.

Doesn´t Ukraine have neonazi troops?

Ah I wouldn't worry, the donated money is getting handed to UN organizations. I will guarantee you 99% of all that money is getting pocketed.
Sad.
I wouldn´t mind if the V-Bucks go towards neo nazi troops in the Ukraine.

I'll at least give Epic credit for doing something as drastic as removing the building mechanic entirely for this season. I'm sure the "pro" Fortnite players are fucking seething over not being able to build 20 story towers any time someone comes in a 2-mile radius of them anymore.

Building is only being removed for two weeks. I don't mind because I play on PS4 and fuck building shit with a controller, but I'm not in the extremely faggy "FUCK SWEATERS" camp. Pick up some firefly jars, plunger bombs, or a semi-cab and those massive structures are a non-issue.

The last storyline quests have gone live today, and the current season ends this Saturday. If you care about the story, don't wait until the last minute because they do take over a dozen matches to complete.

Chapter 3, Season 2 Mini-Review: I hate how quickly the battle lines changed this season. I liked when there being multiple zeppelins scattered across the map. Now it feels more desolate. I also miss the four wheelers and spidey web-slingers from season 1. The Chapter 3 map is slowly improving over time. Still not as good as the Chapter 2 map, though. Not by a long shot.
