I don't know how it works since i've never owned a Twitter account, but can't you just delete your account instantly, or does it have to be deactivated for like 30 days or something then it's deleted?

It is deactivated for 30 days, and then gets permanently deleted. You can log back in at any time in those 30 days to "save" your account, which is what Francis prefers doing
