So, Frozen Cortex is essentially a mixture of American Football, Rugby, and SpeedBall. It's a simultanious turn based game, where each player plots their turn out and it unfolds in real time, so there's lots of attempting to figure out what your opponents plan is.
It's still in Early Access, but their latest update finally added multiplayer league support and team customization, which should lead to some great MP matches. It's also asynchronus, meaning you can play a game over any length of time with the server sending you email alerts when a new turn is ready.
For Ranked MP there is usually a turn limit as to how many days you can go AFK before you auto-forefeit, not sure if that is in yet but it was in their last game, which was sorta similar but with swat team tactics instead of sports.
