Fun facts!

While the Englishman C.R. Alder Wright discovered the compound for Heroin in 1874 while trying to create a more advanced form of morphine, his studies never went further than medical testing. It was re-discovered independently by Felix Hoffman 23 years later. In his willingness to make a saleable product for the Swiss pharmaceutical firm Bayer, he tested it on himself which is why it was called Heroin, it made him feel heroic. It would later be sold by Bayer as a non-addictive Morphine alternative.

Hoffman is also the inventor, though there is some dispute about this, of Aspirin. A product which had come about as much by accident as discovery. Hoffman had been trying to find a use for coal tar bi-products, and found that by adding acetanilide with salicylic acid it created a stable version that could be easily ingested. Bayer initially was skeptical about this, but after some widespread testing immediately went into mass production and branded it Aspirin.

Shatterstar was disowned by his creator Rob liefield after a writer for the X-Men comics made him canonically gay or possibly bi..can't say I blame Rob for doing so. Wonder how he feels about @Deadpool seeing as he's known to go both ways too.
Marvel made an agreement with Mark Miller that they wouldn't use Electra after her death. Marvel broke the agreement almost immediately.

Down the road they placated him by revealing that she'd been a Skrull all along, and I believe Miller ended up writing her title again.

Oh and Rob's problem with Shatterstar wasn't that he was gay, his view was that Shatterstar was asexual because he was so focused honing his combat skills thus uninterested in sex. So my guess is he doesn't care.

Oh my bad I guess I was misinterpreting how he felt, still in sure deep down he was pissed somewhat, the guy was the face of comics in the 90s the decade of huge guns, kicking ass and take no prisoners violence. Sure it was stupid and cheesy but I'd honestly take that over what passes for award winning A material in the industry today.

Oh, he was legitimately pissed, and I've read at least one or two rants he made about it. I meant that he doesn't care about Deadpools ambiguous sexuality. I just worded it poorly.

Bob Clark director of black Christmas (the original good one) penned a sequel that would see the mystery killer "Billy" escaping again and on the loose on Halloween. It's possible Clark abandoned the sequel because of John Carpenter's Halloween being in production at the time.

Other than being shapeshifters the Skrulls used to be scrublords. The last time they attempted to infiltrate earth Reed Richards hypnotized them into thinking they were cows and not knowing any better they continued to be cows. They were accidentally sent to a slaughterhouse and that's how Skrull-beef ended up being eaten by humans. Eating Skrull-beef leads to death and/or intense racial hatred towards crinkle chinned green people. This lead to the formation of the "Skrull Kill Krew" by a group of survivors, it's "Race War Van: The Comic Book". Really, they actually have their own race war van complete with a neo-nazi called Moonstomp.

Cover of the first issue, written by Grant Morrison and Mark Millar.

They should of made this into a movie instead of Captain Marvel.

Since today is 2020, here's some interesting facts about movies from 2000 since 2020 is 2000's 20th anniversary.
  • The top grossing film of 2000 in North America was How the Grinch Stole Christmas while worldwide it was Mission: Impossible 2.
  • Gladiator, which has been the most popular movie of 2000, became the first Best Picture winner since 1949's All The King's Men to win Best Picture without a win for directing nor screenplay.
  • The most expensive film of 2000 was Dinosaur from Disney at $125 million.
  • Robert Zemeckis made two movies that were co-produced and distributed by DreamWorks Pictures (the live action studio) and 20th Century Fox that year. The most popular of the two was Cast Away with Tom Hanks. Production on that film shut down for a year so that Hanks can lose weight. While he was doing that, Zemeckis made the second of the two called What Lies Beneath.
  • 2000 was the last year before the Oscars had a Best Animation Feature award.
  • Steven Soderbergh had two films nominated for Best Picture, Erin Brockovich and Traffic, and was nominated for Best Director for both of them and won for the latter.

Johnny Cash:

-Was the first US citizen to learn that Stalin had died
-Was the first US citizen to be convicted of starting a forest fire
I don't have a link but I'm pretty sure the Stalin thing is only a half truth. He was a code breaker/translator and even though he translated the code, he probably didn't know what it meant because only the higher ups did.

If you don’t want to be seen at night, it’s a much better idea to wear dark blue instead of black. Since it’s not actually pitch black at night wearing black will only make you stand out more, the ambient light from the moon and the stars tends to bathe everything in a very dark blueish light, so a nice shade of navy will conceal you much better.

Source: I have a crazy uncle who loves martial arts and was an instructor at a ninja camp where one of the other instructors told him this, and my other crazy uncle who is an ex marine confirmed it.

The letter w used to be written as vv as a placeholder because no letter for the w sound existed in the English language at the time, similar to how x is often used as placeholder for anything unknown. Eventually they just decided to put the vv's closer together and made the letter w this is why the title of the 2015 movie the Witch is written on posters and the title screen as The VVitch. Also it makes a great way to bypass the filter on vveen.
