The dude who wrote Neuromancer, the book that arguably founded the whole "cool edgy hacker" trope, had never used a computer in any capacity when he wrote it, and when he finally did get his hands on one he thought it was a boring experience. Nowadays he's finally come around and he's as social media addicted as your average millennial.

The Titanic had an even larger sister ship called the Britannic, and because she was under construction when the Titanic sank she was retrofitted with numerous safety improvements, including a double hull, watertight bulkheads that went past the water line, and thirty-five lifeboats instead of just twenty. She was turned into a hospital ship during WWI, and was sunk by a German mine off the coast of Greece in 1916. Only thirty people died, compared to ~1,500 on the Titanic.

He wrote it on a manual typewriter.

When William Gibson bought his first computer he called the store where he purchased it to complain that his computer was making some noises and thought that his computer might be broken. When he was told that was his disc drive spinning he was disappointed to learn that storage drives were more like magnetic Victorian engines that spun like old record players and not some exotic futuristic solid state crystalline device.

I've heard it was an Apple IIe, but that could be a legend. In his bridge trilogy, he accurately predicted the rise of social media. Sadly, he was wrong about the AIs intervening to prevent humanity from destroying itself.

One of the bosses in Dark Souls III seems to be a slightly altered version of a very old (1984) tokusatsu character.

Grated, it's less of a fact and more of the theory, but that shit is damn obvious.

Also, here's a fun Tokusatsu Fact

Have you seen this image on the internet before? You probably have. If you have ever wondered what it's from, it's from Kamen Rider X

Starfish Hitler ( why a starfish? Because in Japanese, his name is an alliteration pun. His Japanese name, spelled out in English is "Hitode Hittora")

Starfish Hitler is probably the most famous Kamen Rider monsters, due to the internet, because of his bizarre and controversial theme, so he has been seen by many people who don't even know what he is from.

So, Starfish Hitler is a monster created by the evil organization G.O.D (Government of Darkness). Why Hitler? Because G.O.D created monsters that were either based on figures from Greek mythology, OR from historical figures

Examples: Oggle Dagger- a mole monster based on Benjamin Oggle
Spider Napoleon- Napoleon Bonaparte
Scorpion Geronimo- self explanatory
Toad Goemon- Ishikawa Goemon
Ant Capone- Al Capone (yes. he is an ant monster that wears a fedora)

And then there are these anomalies

Horned Beetle Lupin - Arsene Lupin
Franken Bat- Frankenstein
Chameleon Phantom- Phantom of the Opera
Leech Dracula- Count Dracula

They're anomalies because they are not based on historical figures, but rather fictional characters, yet they are in the Akuninkaijin group, which indicates they are in the "historical villains" group.

which one?
Gwyndolin (I never played the games themselves, so can only rely on wiki, I also could be wrong with what part he was in), seems to be based on Space Sheriff Shaider villain Priest Poe, both design-wise and in some details.
I talked about that with a guy on here once, here's copypaste from pm, if anyone gives a care.
Basically, you know Dark Sun Gwyndolin, right? How they (I know that people are disputing their gender, so I'll just use that pronoun, cause whatev) design and everything (asking cause I've seen them being mentioned on here in a few threads).
And now look at this guy
http://metalheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Priest_Poe
there aren't good pics on wiki, so here's some better
https://78.media.tumblr.com/88401244b70d1a96bb1934658be2d70d/tumblr_omgqncZ47e1r6yohpo4_1280.png

Now, Poe has no snake legs, but that could be a headcanon of whoever was responcible for basing Gwyndolin off him, seeing as how Poe's monstrous god-grandfather had snakes all over his body (when he had one, cause in the series, he mostly appears as just head), and Poe's human giuse never shows its lower part (and in the illusionary world of "Phantom showtime", he appears wearing pants in all the costumes, as if it's somewhat of an opportunity for him to).
Also, Kubilai is the only one among Fuuma to ever refer to Poe in feminine terms, making for easily headcanon of that whole "raised as a girl cause of his sire's whim" thing as well (tho in Poe's case, that won't be due to some "connection to the moon" bullshit, but due to his eager-to-please, soft nature - he rarely appears to enjoy doing evil, and is ever-polite in speech, which, in japanese logic, makes him womanlike...tho few times, he does act rather evil, but that's children shows for ya, consistency they have not, not to mention it appears to be mostly for self-display).
So, basically, Gwyndolin is someone taking Poe, applying headcanons and a lil bit of design adjustments, and calling it a day (tho, of course, Poe had no siblings, but maybe they needed someone for the pre-written role).
I mean, even the "guardian of the crypt" thing kind of makes sense, as it could be a person misremembering an episode they saw long ago (Poe never guarded anything, but he did seal the hero in the crypt where Kubilai's undying monster body was).

@Galvatron when I got up this morning, I can honestly say I was not expecting to read the words "Starfish Hitler" in any context. So, thanks for breaking my expectations, I guess.

In France, during the late 80s run of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys, the name was changed to "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles". Depending on who you ask, it was either due to a translation error (most likely) or because the French though "Ninja" was too violent.

Abraham Lincoln had a dream about his death before he was killed:
According to the recollection of one of his friends, Ward Hill Lamon, President Abraham Lincoln dreams on this night in 1865 of “the subdued sobs of mourners” and a corpse lying on a catafalque in the White House East Room. In the dream, Lincoln asked a soldier standing guard “Who is dead in the White House?” to which the soldier replied, “the President.he was killed by an assassin.” Lincoln woke up at that point. On April 11, he told Lamon that the dream had “strangely annoyed” him ever since. Ten days after having the dream, Lincoln was shot dead by an assassin while attending the theater.

This is literally my favorite thing in all of modern media. I pray to see the day where the series creates elephant Roger, the unholy mix of Elliot Roger the hero of all incels and the mighty elephant, the animal that never forgets all the Chads and Stacies who wronged him.

Here's some Titanic facts.

The Jesuit priest and the warning.

Francis Browne was given a first-class ticket as a present from his uncle to board Titanic for the first part of Her maiden voyage. While onboard the Ship he took dozens of photographs of passengers, crew and the Ship itself.

Browne’s ticket only allowed him to get as far as Queenstown, Ireland. During his time on Titanic, Browne befriended a wealthy couple that offered to pay for him to continue his travels to New York. As Browne was studying for the priesthood he requested permission from his superior to travel to New York, and his superior replied with a stern “GET OFF THAT SHIP”. Browne did as he was told and departed Titanic in Queenstown, Ireland.
Of course, the ship went on to the tragic journey after he left.
Francis Browne also took one of the last shots of the Titanic.

The mother who sensed that something bad would happen.

Eva Hart who was seven at the time of the sinking mentioned how her mother had a feeling that something bad would happen on the ship.

We went on the day on the boat train... I was 7, I had never seen a ship before... it looked very big...everybody was very excited, we went down to the cabin and that's when my mother said to my father that she had made up her mind quite firmly that she would not go to bed in that ship, she would sit up at night... she decided that she wouldn't go to bed at night, and she didn't!

Throughout the voyage, Eva's mother was troubled by a fear that some kind of catastrophe would hit the ship. To call a ship unsinkable was, in her mind, flying in the face of God.

"My father was so excited about it and my mother was so upset... The first time in my life I saw her crying... she was so desperately unhappy about the prospect of going, she had this premonition, a most unusual thing for her...

That's some Final Destination shit.

Granted, you get people who are afraid to board a plane, fearing something bad will happen on pretty much every flight.
I guess it's the same for ships, too.

Nope, it was in Britain.

Nope, it was in Britain.
It was Europe in general it looks like. I found a wiki article in French that says a British censorship judge ruled "ninja" was too violent for young children so all TMNT properties in Europe were renamed "hero". I ran it through translate as I don't speak French. Here's the original article: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage_Mutant_Hero_Turtles_(jeu_vidéo)

During WWII, pennies were made with steel instead of copper because copper was needed for the war effort. However, in 1943, some pennies were made with 95% copper by mistake. If you can get your hands on one, they're worth quite a bit.

2600 magazine is named after John Draper hack. He figured out that toy whistle from Captan Crunch cereal made perfect 2600hz pitch. The tonal pitches were used to test long distance lines for ATT. So John (aka Captain Crunch) was one of first phone phreakers did not require any real hacking skills other than blind luck.

One of the early phone phreaks was a blind guy named Josef 'Joybubbles' Engressia, who figured out how to generate a 2600hz tone just by whistling.
