Went ahead and translated the leaked audio with japanese subtitles so the japs can understand seeing as pretty much most of them dont even know this is going on. I doubt this'll get many views but its worth a try at least. Probably butchered the fuck out of the language since I was using translators online but hopefully theyll get the gist of it. Maybe raise some awareness so Funimation can get their asses handed to them by Toei. If anyone wants to pass it around to their japanese friends or even post it on a forum with Japanese or whatever that'd be cool too.

But that's not the problem, the problem is Funimation's handbook saying any religious statements (one of the characters is a born-again Christian insulting a Jewish character) and sexual jokes (like... well, 75%+ of the dub) are against DA RULEZ. Everyone who took part in that "dub" should've been fired on the spot. But they weren't. Following that they also did those stupid Dragon Ball recordings, in character, which they also didn't get fired for, even though they clearly violated Funimation's employee handbook.

I actually really like the dub, and it's one of the two shows I can stand Rial's voice in.

For a lot of people (and it looks like pretty much the entirety of the KV side), this case is about validating their views.

If you believe victims must always be believed, Vic's sins are multiple. Aside from the original sin of being born male, and hence always a predator (a view held by a not insignificant number of people among this mindset), he had the audacity to fight back. Therefore, he must be destroyed twice - way more work than they bargained for.

And anyone assisting in his efforts to fight back must be destroyed as well. Witness the idiocy of the ethics complaints filed against Ty and Nick - not just the quantity, but the substance ("he is defending a man I don't like" / "he is raising money for a man I don't like's legal defense and talking about the case in a way I disagree with"). Look at the attempts to cut off the gofundme account. Look how often the paid idiots for the other side keep harping on both Nick and the gofundme. This is not the regular soul-eating rage that infests these lunatics. This is the realization that a formula for defeating claims is an existential threat to their unchecked power to destroy on allegation alone.

On the other side, there are a lot of people who see the overreach, not just in the case, but in the #metoo movement in general, and are celebrating someone fighting back. And they really want a legal victory because they think #metoo is running unchecked, and accusation is a career death sentence. Count me among those. I have virtually no knowledge, understanding or appreciation for Anime. I just want to see the 21st century's version of the Salem Witch Trials come to a close.

Yeah. I also thought Funimation wasn't run by idiots and that it would settle, but I've since found out how dumb I was to assume that. Maybe Gen thinks it's Sony's problem now. In that case, I really hope Funi gets to pay some extra punitive damages at the end.

Ditto. I'm curious what happens if (when) they lose their TCPA motion. Because so far litigation has been (relatively) cheap. It is going to get a LOT more expensive. How committed are they to throwing good money after bad?

But let's talk about Sony for a second... Why do companies keep subsidiary brands? To cash in on the goodwill that exists with those brands. If the daycare that is Funimation is viewed as significantly damaged from letting the toddlers run it (from audio leaks and allegations of a casting couch), perhaps Sony decides to close the daycare, let everyone go, create Sony Voice Studios and start fresh. Sony execs running the show instead of Amateur Hour there in Texas.

This becomes an ESPECIALLY attractive option if they believe Toei has no faith in Funimation to get their shit together. Sony would have a hell of a lot more clout than Crunchyroll or other competitors, and could keep that lucrative license.

I created this petition just in case anyone hopes to sign it.

I doubt it will go anywhere, but it's wishful thinking and Toei might see it in addition to the tweet from Yuki.
Funimation has been going downhill for a while now, like a car with no brakes heading off a cliff.
I'll be happy and a bit relieved to see it go down in flames, if I'm honest.


You can rebuild and rebrand from the recordings, sure.
Hard, but sure.

But you can't rebuild and rebrand after a casting couch controversy.
I'm open to being proved wrong but I doubt it sincerely, especially if the same people work there that do now.

That's dumb you're dumb, Toei only knows moon runes and they'll pull away from funimation when they want or they'll deserve the hit for being exceptional at business decisions. Petitions are for fags.
