Funimation Audio Leaks - Sacred Ointment memes for degenerate teens

They'll want to know how much "sexual harassment" has been recorded and documented considering that this shit has stayed in the servers of Funimation.

Absolutely.

Funimation is looking at a shitstorm on three fronts.

1. The case at hand. Vic is not suing for wrongful termination (that I know of - apologies in advance if I'm incorrect). However I imagine his lawyers will be able to use this to expand their suit. It isn't uncommon that one bit of wrongdoing uncovers evidence of more, and the legal problems just mushroom from there.

2. The PR of biblical proportions. They'd better hope Nick released everything and didn't decide to, say, wait until next week to release even more. I have no idea if this is the case, but if you want to maximize blood loss, keep ripping the scabs off. Plus, it's fun. Saul Alinsky, Rules for Radicals, #6: “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.”

3. Funimation's biggest problem is no longer just Vic - it's also Toei. Before this, Vic was their biggest risk. Now losing their Toei deal could be as damaging, if not more (sorry, I have no idea how much money they make off the deal)

Hello. Don't know if I'm late, but I checked google and have found that Heavy.com has written an article on the funi leaks.

Edit: Okay, this part might be interesting:

Fake iDubbz should learn a lesson from the real one and stfu if you don't have all the facts

Does anyone know how long (or can generalize from Toei's history) that 2017 Funi/Toei licensing agreement is for? I think that's going to be the real impact.

I'd be shocked if there wasn't language in their contract that gave Toei right to terminate over precisely stuff like this.

Toei is in the driver's seat right now. Right now they can likely terminate the contract outright and negotiate with others. Or they can let this play out, quietly investigate Funimation's dealings while also negotiating the best price from others then walk in to Funimation's offices with that deal and say, "Beat this by 30% (or whatever), or we walk." Right now, Toei probably doesn't want any more leaks to drop that might force them to take action.

The Toei deal could potentially have penalty clauses for things like voice actors doing the characters without authorization or in a manner counter to what Toei has given permission for, and those leaks would definitely be counter to Toei’s approval.

Now I know a lot of you are saying Toei is totally going to axe funi for this and while that is highly likely, think of this. You have a perfectly good reason to go elsewhere... but why do that when you can basically turn funi into your own private dubbing company through terms and conditions for the license to your works?

here's a scenario. Toei hears about this. Executives throw a fit and call funi, threatening them. Funi tries to placate and fails. Then after calming down an exec calls, saying they are renegotiating and if funi wants to keep its license, they will agree to every single condition they set and the first bit of backtalk they walk.

from there toei lays out its conditions for them keeping the licenses they have: toei basically controls the company and if funi gets any funny ideas they walk immediately and are allowed to. they control everything: from staffing to what studios they associate with and what licenses they accept. Funi has two choices. accept Toei's deal and lose their agency or decline and Toei walks, taking most of Funi's moneymaking anime. at least one piece and db, both of which account for most of their profit.

which leaves funi in shambles either way. the first leads to complete demoralization of current staff (which may not be around long anyway) and loss of good pr because TFS loses their shield and will eat a dmca for it. the other leaves them in shambles financially and having to claw for money... but they have no chance. Toei absolutely will warn studios to avoid them which means either more licenses pulled or no new ones.... basically ending Funi's chances at having a future.

Article's slightly wrong. Vic was terminated late January (I want to say the 25th). Funimation's public statement was in February.

Also not sure about the multiple allegations of sexual harassment. Vic was investigated and fired for the jelly bean incident, propositioning the Yost twins at a con, and giving Sara Bachmeyer a kiss. I mean maybe those are considered sexual harassment? I guess it works in the interest of brevity.

Honestly, in most corporate environments, those would qualify if done on company premises at any time, or anywhere else if the person was in a position as a representative of the company off-site. Even the kiss could be considered as such, even if consensual, if an observer were made uncomfortable by it.

I like the way you think.

I wouldn't be surprised if FUNi got the Toei contract purely because they were able to undercut some others because of the incestuous relationship of FUNi and Sabat's Okratron 5000 studio; where they were able to cut costs that others couldn't. Sabat probably offered lower studio fees, but requested bigger roles and higher-up positions to more than make up for the fees (Cons and what not).

TFS is a thorn in Toei's side. Sabat is now a direct thorn in their side. I agree with you, after what ever seasons they are currently dubbing wraps up--there will be pressure applied by Toei for changes.
