Funimation Audio Leaks - Sacred Ointment memes for degenerate teens

Don't know what the fuck it says, but Nick got a mention.

Multiple recordings were revealed one at a time in the “Rekieta Law” live stream by lawyer Nick Requita, which lasted 3 hours and 30 minutes. Requita pointed out that the voice actors joke violates Funimation's work rules. He also claims that all recordings were obtained in a “fully, 100% legal” manner and that they are presenting them as a journalist. Funimation is an entertainment company that is famous for its cooperation with the US distribution of “Dragon Ball Z” produced by Toei Animation and the dubbing of English.
Multiple recordings have different themes and degrees of aggression. In a very insulting recording, Sumer, who speaks as Goku, is defamatory about the homosexual content of his character's son. In another recording, voice actors use licensed music to perform a "voice drama" about anal sex with multiple characters. In one short recording, Chichi's voice is joking about incest.
"the homosexual content of his character's son" lol

And hey, if you can find something about the TFS cast being lolcows that'd be a fun little extra you could throw in lmao. Also anything that points to them being KickVic.

It's a shame Lanipator deleted his video that he made regarding the aftermath of the 2016 election.
The despair in his voice as he talked about what it meant and he seemed like a Vietnam vet remembering The War.

Would it though...? mean its well known TFS believe their work is fair use.... and they've acknowledged that an actual fight would likely crush them not because merit but because Toei has more money than them.

So when your enemy can fight dirty with no repurcussions, then isn't it right to use your own dirty methods to fight back?

TLDR: All they'd have been doing is using dirty methods to fight a dragon while being human.
I'd say season 1 and 2 of DBZA are definitely fair use, but season 3 there is at least an argument to be made that it's a comedic dub, and not entirely transformative. I'm not saying it would hold up, just that 3 isn't on as stable of legal ground, likely due to Kaiser literally wanting to fuck future Trunks and not allowing things related to his wannabe boytoy to get too silly.

Yahoo is still super huge in japan so this is pretty bad for funimation. So much for them not thinking Nick pushing this on social media wouldn't go far.

(Keep in mind that my Japanese translating skills are not high-tier yet.)

This should not be the work of these people.

Dragonball Z's image will become undesirable with this, so they should pull it back.

Story goes, that Funimation's clique were pissy as pissy could be that Toei forced them to rehire Vic to play Broly (as he voiced the character in the original DBZ movies and Toei arbitrarily decided that since Vic's alive and well, that they should invite him back to the role. And with the DBS Broly Movie a huge fucking hit, Funimation was fucked because Toei (again) would make them use Vic for the next incarnation of Dragon Ball, given how the Broly Movie set him up as a regular. Meaning Chris or Sean couldn't take the role for themselves.

So they schemed the big scheme they did and let it spiral further and further into a clusterfuck, because they needed an excuse to fire Vic that could be sold to Toei and make a big deal about it in order to justify defying Toei by claiming Vic was "too toxic" to bring back/keep around.
Not to mention, when you become a VA in japan, you're basically that VA for fucking life and beyond, with roles usually only being replaced under death or circumstances where they absolutely cannot do the voice. I wouldn't say them getting Vic back for Broly was arbitrary, especially for a company like Toei, who are as tight-fisted, traditionalist and conservative as they come in that market.

I.E, Igor from Persona. His japanese VA died a while back, and they've mostly just been using sound clips. His being an imposter in P5 is why he was suddenly "revoiced", but as soon as the real Igor came back, it was reused clips again.

You miss one other critical element. It’s now come out that Vic was offered a Directing role from Funi. That would upset the power balance of Sabat and crew. Plus it is likely that Monica or Jamie wanted that job as well.

Now here's some food for thought. While Funi's fate is essentially sealed (either they are wholly under control of Toei or they lose their contracts for one piece, db, and any other Toei license), TFS's isn't.... want to know why? because TFS can frame this rumor however they like. Including in ways that absolve them and completely fuck over Funi.

let me throw this example.... what if they claimed they thought Funi was acting as a middleman between them and Toei and are just finding out that funi wasn't? sure it'd seem incredulous until you look at everything Funi has done. Not so impossible is it? That single reason is why TFS has been given both a blessing and a curse with this controversy. Let's see if they make the most of both.

The only Middleman Toei would use regarding TFS is Lawyers. TFS is a bug Funi wishes to crush. You don’t cut a deal with your bootleggers. Please do give up on these tales of TFS being some sort of noble fans who will be embraced by the IP owners. Toei rightfully views them as thieves that steal from them and undercut their products value.

Yet another reason why it's probably in their best interest to settle ASAP. I've worked in enough organizations to know that when the inmates run the asylum as appears the case here, the more you dig, the more damning things you WILL find. This latest revelation probably allowed a litigation hold so tight the janitorial staff can't leave without a body cavity search.

It is isn't implausible that all parties go radio silent. While they obviously didn't realize how stupid what they did was, they've learned it now. Their DM's were filled with WTF messages without Funimation saying a word. Obviously I don't know one way or another, but I think you have stronger evidence of this than cowards running when caught.

Chuck’s affidavit tells us why Funi went for broke and didn’t immediately start looking for a sane settlement as soon as things started going sideways. Somebody whispered the wonders of Anti-SLAPP in Gen Fukunaga’s ear. TCPA would save them all and make Vic pay for it! Yeah, that’s going to cost them big time.

Well, he's a giant liar but that's not going to happen anyway because it's a virtual certainty that no matter what happens it's getting appealed.

I’m actually not as certain of that as I once was. So much is going wrong for Funi, that I think Sony might step in and force a settlement as the cheaper option than dragging this out and further endangering valuable IP and branding. The #metoo backlash is getting noticeable and expensive. The only winning move is not to play.

And as much as we know Lemonfuhrerwants and plans for a TCPA appeal, at some point he’s gonna need paying. Looking at Chris S’s affidavit there is no fucking way his clients get saved via TCPA nor his bills get dumped on Vic. You do not have a 1st Amendment Right to commit fraud. That whole sponsorship dance of the dangling $25,000 to Kcon vaporizes any reasonable and rational hope of winning a TCPA. So who the fuck is going to be paying another $200k on such a fools errand?

Jamie still might win her TCPA. In the event she doesn’t and appeals BHBH would probably reach a reasonable settlement with her just o get her discovery and get her off the board. Her lawyer will advise her to take it, as it would be cheaper than an appeal.

VAs goofing off isn't new there is probably tons of shit hidden out there. All this got me wondering if VA casts for some of the more innocent shows like Arthur, Dora The Explorer, etc have done shit like this. All this got me wanting to hear more.

They all have it. But sane well run companies have strict rules about doing it, and more importantly preserving it. Everybody will screw around a little at work. Just keep it limited and don’t create a permanent record. “And if it hits the street we will motherfucking kill all of you! “ And even then there are limits to what the employer will tolerate. Somewhere back in this thread is an example of some Thundercats outtakes. That’s a good example of what the business will tolerate. Mr. Popo’s Divine Lotion is something so far outside the bounds that everyone involved would be instantly fired from any well run producer.

And generally the shows that are specifically for young children, Dora the Explorer, Sesame Street etc understand what they are doing, and the cast involved just won’t cross that line as a matter of habit. For example Frank Oz May do a private among friends slightly more adult rendition of Ms. Piggy or Yoda, but would never ever do it using Grover’s voice.

Disney has some similar stuff with their character actors in the parks. Get any and all of it out of your system Downstairs in the private off stage dressing rooms, with no phones or recording permitted in the spaces. And even then it damn well better not violate any other HR rules regarding inappropriate workplace behavior. Everybody needs to blow off some stress. But don’t embarrass yourselves, the company or the IP.

Accurate translation:

They're truly a bunch of scumbags for doing this with someone's work.

This is bad enough to damage Dragon Ball's image. They should've been absorbed by Cell before this happened.

Complex put out an article about the leak. It's pretty basic.
Edit: I also found this article from a Japanese site with a decent amount of comments. The google translated comments seem kinda funny.

I'm not sure she would take it. The biggest hang ups in any of the defendants settling is that as part of a settlement that Ty and Vic find acceptable they would: 1) have to turn on their colleagues and "friends", and 2) have to admit that they themselves were awful people who lied about Vic, committed tortuous inference, possibly committed perjury in the process, etc. In short, the key to getting out of this cheaply is to backstab a bunch of your existing relationships, while admitting to being a horrible person. I'm skeptical that any of them feel financially desperate enough to take that out.

It's sad how far in the hole TFS are because we know their stance and if they even try to back pedal they are just another sinking ship waiting to happen. How hard they shilled KicVic I cant say im too sad but, something tells me they truly did not know about how slimy and scummy Funi was. Though them trying to censor shit is very much not helping their case.

Thing that people also forget about these leaks is WHO is doing them, these guys chastised and belittled US for so long about being children and being these PANTHEONS OF MORALITY that when they eventually get caught doing the exact same shit if not worse than they are accusing people of, there is no way to put that genie back in its lamp. It's there and it will be there for the rest of their careers if not their lives. Some may TRY to forget and maybe even spin the narrative to make us forget but, we wont. And thatll fuck them up more than any leaked recording ever could. They wanted to play the court of public opinion when the judges were on their side, but in doing so made the judges turn on them. Its poetic

I'm skeptical that any of them feel financially desperate enough to take that out.

Ron's definitely going to take that out. It's either that, or get dragged into criminal court for fraud after getting his skull split with the verdict.

I suppose I can understand to an extent why people are supposing Marchi's chances are better than everyone else's to a significant degree, but the TCPA-- as stated in the response-- isn't just to protect free speech, but specifically free speech as it pertains to public concern. The defendants either vaguely define whose interests they were trying to protect to the point of uselessness ("what is the 'anime community'?"), or they don't bother delineating to begin with. Rial and Toye, along with Funimation, are in it really deep, and while Marchi doesn't have much to her compared to them in particular, you're going to have to argue really hard to make the case that she has no significant association with any of the other defendants-- and my understanding is that she's made no such effort, unlike Funimation's pitiful attempts to treat their employees like the independent contractors they claim they are.

The burden isn't particularly great-- Plaintiff just needs to demonstrate that he's suing these people for the reasons he saying he is, as opposed to just trying to shut them up, and he needs to make the case that it's such, by the slightest tip of the scales.

Ron Toye definitely committed TI. There's no two ways about it. He could actually be brought into criminal court for fraud, on top of that. Ron and Monica both said that Vic would have criminal charges filed against him, but they never were. That by itself poisons the rest of the defendants-- why would Vic be trying to file a SLAPP while legitimately coming for Rial and Toye for tortious interference with contract and business prospects? Rial and Toye already lied about criminal charges for his alleged sexual predating being imminently filed-- what's to say that they're not lying about the sexual predation to begin with since no such filing occurred despite them saying that it would occur before KC?

That's why Huber is important.

Marchi is most implicated through Huber's testimony, because he describes Rial, *hurk* Specht, and Marchi talking about how Vic would have criminal charges filed against him soon. Suddenly, without successfully impeaching Huber (and good luck with that, since he was firing at Vic, too, and was willing at some point to call him a sex addict without his permission), it becomes substantially more difficult for Marchi to extricate herself from the conduct of her co-defendants-- and she needed that extrication to ensure that her allegations weren't colored in the same context as Rial's and Toye's.

This is something I feel like I am taking crazy pills reading the reactions to the leaks.

I know the active SJW/Vic haters are just doing desperate damage control for their rapidly failing harassment campaign, but there appear to be a large number of people who are utterly clueless of how the world functions.

Why there is a boring and unhip head of the company.
Why the company lawyers appear to have sticks up their asses.
Why the HR chics seem like schoolyard whistle blowers.

This structure and disipline exists EXACTLY to prevent clusterfucks like these very leaks that have damaged a multi-billion dollar worldwide brand's image and value.

And to prevent the incredibly Japanese meeting(s) that are or about to take place between Gen Fukunaga and Toei - filled with culturally appropriate smiles and bowing.

Potty mouth in the lunch room? Meh
An edgy t-shirt at work? Meh
Shenanigans at a company party? Meh
Some workplace dating or fooling around? Meh

Fucking with the company's multi-billion dollar licensed IP?

Holy fuck. In any real world company that plans on having a future everyone involved - including the unclucky sap who just happened to be walking by when it happened - is standing in the parking lot with their cardbord box of crap in the blink of an eye. Everyone in the management chain above the clowns who did the actual damage are most likely getting the axe. A management retreat where the every single person attending is repeatedly informed how fucked they are if anything remotely close to this clusterfuck happens again. Etc.

It's old. They apologized Everybody already heard it. Remember when everybody heard it through a decade past being funny like over 9000 and dead Yamcha? Because that totally happened.
Don't forget that everyone has grown past it. Despite Chuck Huber, a man who has worked at funimation for nearly two decades, saying funimation is still a terrible work environment filled with debauchery and high school cliques. Also Sabat is running a casting couch.
