99% of the time the people bitching and moaning about not going to a con weren't going to go anyway.
My theory for why this happens so much is because it gives them an excuse that isn't embarrassing. "I didn't go because I can't afford it/I am a social retard" then becomes "oh, that con? I didn't go because I didn't want to.
" Same thing happened with COVID in 2022 and onward. "Oh yikes, you're going to a convention? Ummmmm, sweetie, did you forget about COVID? Um, I'm doing the socially responsible thing and not going."It's a private event on private property, they don't have to let anyone in. You still can't discriminate so "we are kicking you out for being Christian" or something as dumb as that might very well be a lawsuit, but "you are a self-confessed animal rapist with a history of causing trouble at past events" is a 100% legal reason to ban him. Other cons have done it, in 2023 Fur the 'More staff literally found him on the con floor and told him to pack his shit and fuck off, he's not welcome to attend their event.
In the past Anthrocon was known for being one of the easiest cons to get banned from. They banned people for making YouTube videos Kage didn't like, banned people for speaking to the media without permission, even preemptively banned people for getting in trouble at other cons for loud room parties. They used to have quite a reputation for "do NOT get into Kage's sights or you are banned".

It seems like there wasn’t anything too extreme that happened at Anthrocon this year. I reached out to a couple of fursuiters I know (for research purposes), and the general takeaway was that despite all the complaints about the new fursuit parade policies, they didn’t affect the parade all that much. It was smaller than last year’s, sure, but everyone I talked to said that was a good thing.
From what I heard secondhand from some suiters who did the 2024 parade, last year was a mess behind the scenes. The line moved so slowly that some people had to wait over three hours between arriving at the starting area and finally getting to step into the parade. This year? For most folks, it was about an hour at most. Sounds like a mix of limiting the parade size and better management made a noticeable difference.
That being said, on the subject of "Why is this guy not banned?" as well, Someone I talked to spotted Nitro Rooski/Matthew Soltys again, which is insane to me.
As a reminder, back in 2020, Matthew mishandled what’s believed to be between $4,000 and $5,000 in charity donations raised at his own short-lived furry convention, Capital City Fur Con. Uncle Kage has publicly stated multiple times that he planned to sue Matthew for fraud.

If any Anthrocon staff are reading this thread, I’d like an explanation as to why you people keep allowing Matthew to register every year in spite of the fact that your chairman said he wants to sue him for fraud.

Yeah the whole AnthroCon being "Kage Con", whether or not he was "officially" running things has been a thing for a long time. It was only when the 2 drama hit that people suddenly realized old Uncle Tickles didn't have the power anymore, and officially "retired" that he came back and exploit influence.
Mixing this in with his coddling of Boozy Badger is something he'd do given him and very real allegations of underage goings on. Even a bottom tier like grooming Boozy would be something he'd revel in, having to protect his precious reputation.

Sounds like it.
Not the first time. He registered for Fur the 'More 2023 under the name "Frater Patricius" to avoid being recognized as "Crusader Cat", then got booted when spotted in his fursuit.
Anthrocon's parade specifically allowed (this time) to show "a photo that shows all elements of the costume" (A) to be pre-approved. It would be trivial for him to have shown a picture of any other fursuit in the world to get "approved", then show up to the parade in Crusader Cat and march before anyone on staff noticed him. Fully expect this rule will be revised and require an in-person inspection in 2026.

That was just a clever last minute coverup to try and correct their mistake. Anyone who believes this "damage control" is a completely gullible fool or a naive sheep in the flock, of hive minded morons, within the furry Fandom. Crusader Cat is a heinous creep who should never be allowed near any animal, but none of these touchy, feely, lefty, crybabies have got the guts to do anything about it!

Allegedly Giza (now that's a fuckin name I haven't heard in a loooooong while) is the AC staffer that was running defense for him behind the scenes. But of course, Paden is a chronic liar and will just say anything for attention, so who knows if this is true or not. Not like he's posted any actual proof. (Archive)

Security usually is a massive joke at most conventions. I can think of exactly one convention (out of the near-dozen tech conferences I've attended throughout my career) that actually wanted to scan my badge, and that was a home & garden con peddling hippie plant stuff, landscaping services, and hot tubs (lol). Even fucking I/ITSEC (a MIC con where there's more people in uniform than there are civilians milling about) didn't bother scanning my badge. I just strolled right in.

The "Normies" in Pittsburgh really have no idea about the degeneracy within the "Furry Fandom". All they see are cute animal mascot costumes wandering about the city and nothing more. Perhaps being naive about "Anthrocon" is the best way for people to keep sane?
