Furry Fandom and Drama General

Conversationally, how much of a hellpit is Furaffinity these days? Dragoneer always was such a fucking princess into protecting real rapists and pedophiles and zoophiles for them furry dollars.

Given the amount of shit that hits the front page daily? As bottom of the barrel as ever. Anyone unironically using FA as a social site has issues and autism might just be the least bad one.

If you don't find the admins insufferable, you're sure to find 90% of the artists are overweight, uneducated SJWs, and a lot of them are trannies, which means mental illness. Because a lot of the artists are SJW trannies, it means they influence the autistic masses and a lot of non-artist furries are SJW trannies themselves.

If you're fucked in the head, you'll blend in just fine, but I highly suggest to anyone who loves themselves and is seriously thinking about dipping their toes in the fandom to remember that these are completely unhinged, mentally ill people. Even when you think they are your friends, all you have to do is say one thing that rubs them the wrong way (take a guess, you'll never be exactly sure what it is) and you'll become the target of a drooling, incompetent, dick-rubbing, autogynephilic hate mob.

And once the mob sets in, the admins come out of their caves like troglodytes, dragging their swollen, bounteous autism right alongside them and club you with it.

The only good thing about FA, is that if you can keep your head in the long run and you can draw animals, these people can be milked by the truckload for an insane amount of money and laughs.

Oh GOD. I noticed that in the trailer for “the fandom“, the new “documentary“, there’s quite a bit of footage of Mark Merlino and his balding turtle head. for a fandom that wants to be main stream and excepted, do you think they would officially write him out of the history.

Honestly, if this documentary was made before 2012, I'd wager they'd do everything they could to either downplay Merlino's influence in the furry fandom or just completely unperson him from the history of it altogether, as he's one of the the main reasons why furry became this weird hybrid of niche fandom and fetish community, and he's definitely the man who made furry a largely LGBT fandom decades before being "queer" was seen as trendy.

Nowadays, the furry scene is banking on its high LGBT presence to try and gain some semblance of mainstream acceptance after spending the last several decades as the bottom caste of fandom hierarchies.

If they want to play the LGBT card to gain sympathy from the normies, they will no doubt feature Mark Merlino extensively.

Something Awful once had an AMA by a woman who had escaped the Vampire: The Masquerade LARPing community. There were so many parallels with the furry fandom, it was frightening.

You’ll hear some LARPers say that it’s a non-judgmental and totally accepting group, which is utter, UTTER shit. They may not judge you for being fat or crazy, but if you deviate even slightly from their worldview or question/criticize their rules (both game-wise and social mores), they’ll peel you. And for someone who is already unstable, depressed or without self-esteem, it’s like the end of the world. The excuse really awful behaviors, and I’ll go into why/how a bit down the road. And the hierarchy is filled with people who should never be given any kind of decision-making power. It’s abused terribly. And it isn’t some angry little dork screaming that you can’t have the special sword you want for your character; it’s a lot more sinister...

All true; though it is a pity they can’t find someone more camera friendly than Merlino for that. Dude looks like a child molester.

It’s also a pity we live in the era of Fetish = It’s my culture/you’re a bigot. If we didn’t furry would have collapsed a long time ago.

Lol. There is a 7 episode mini documentary series on YouTube. I presume the next documentary is like season 2? I'm a bit confused but just search up "the fandom" and whatch it for yourself. Like one of the episodes talks about furry Christianity

Perhaps the most notable event that came from this was when they blamed Republicans for why FurBuy shut down. (FurBuy has since deleted that Tweet).

Is Jurann still the guy behind Furbuy? He got suspended on FA years ago for being an arse and has had Artists Bewares on him for shady practices - Even Furbuy got in trouble several times for generally unsafe trades and people moved to Dealersden for the most part.

The site was run on stupidly outdated coding to the point they had a major security flaw long ago with passwords being leaked, and struggled to revive it after it went down last time. It was honestly a wonder it didn't die faster.

I'm not sure if this is a more a case of "fuck Google" or more a case of "read the ToS before using Google Drive to host your furry porn, idiot."

This case interests me, though. Google doesn't strike me as the kind of company that would completely nuke someone's entire account and every service attached to it simply for storing cartoon animal porn. I'm curious as to what that "NSFW content" actually is.

Community wise, FurAffinity is becoming less and less active. Nobody uses FurAffinity as a social network as all the social networking has moved to Twitter. Before Twitter a good amount used Tumblr as well before Tumblr's porn ban filter made the site unusable. It's full of the same bottom feeder horny commenters and DeviantArt rejects.

Finding and commissioning art is a different story. FurAffinity still functions as an art dump and furries take commissions there because no other art site's replaced it. The tagging system is never used and sucks ass compared to e621, being abused by furry artists putting in shit like "hot sexy" in the tags. Furthermore, fewer art is uploaded to FurAffinity than there used to be. But furries use it to watch artists if they don't want to use Twitter (and get politics in return) or want to keep track of an artist who has DNP'd themselves off e621.

But the same rule that applied years ago still applies today. If you're willing to draw niche fetishes, furries will open up their wallets and spend their rent money on that instead. FurAffinity will always have a place as a backup platform even if social media is the main one these days for obvious reasons.

Google has become famous for banning people's entire accounts (not just YouTube) for uploading controversial videos. Jordan Peterson was one of the earlier targets of this and only got his account back because he was both vocal about this and wasn't as politically controversial as many of the others who were banned. Many of the same websites who go after politically controversial material end up going after porn, and they were going after porn first. PayPal is extremely famous for banning the use of their service for porn.

Trusting the cloud is quickly becoming the current decade version of setting your password to "12345". It's a bad idea because the minute you're banned your data goes away, but just like insecure passwords they're easy to use and people assume it'll never happen to them.

I mean...they need someone to blame but definitely not themselves, of course. I thought you know the drill.
I do know the drill, jus told the mental gymnastics required makes my head explode

God, honestly only brainlets would trust "the cloud" especially since big companies aren't the too good at protecting your private info. Just fucking download the shit, like is it that hard to download a couple hundred images of furry porn ?

They're notorious for that. If they ban you from anything for any reason, everything you use with them is completely gone forever. You used Google Authenticator for some financial service? You're fucked.

Never use Google anything. Google are scum and will absolutely fuck you over for the slightest reason or even no reason at all.

Yeah, you and the others are probably right on this. The optimist in me wants to think that if there was illegal shit on this furfag's google drive, Google would happily restore the account to good standing while quietly tipping off the authorities. But it's fucking Google; if they saw kiddie porn in there they'd probably just unlock the account, give the furfag a little pat on the head, and save the pictures for personal consumption.

It's sort of unsettling that cloud storage providers will kick your shit in for NSFW content, though, given how much they encourage you to send every aspect of your life to them. Dropbox's software tries to get you to check a box that makes you instantly upload every screenshot you take, and Windows 10 does that with your Microsoft account's OneDrive as a default fucking setting. If there's a clause anywhere in the thousand different license agreements that you click past/implicitly agree to in the course of using Windows that says --

Oh who the fuck am I kidding, they probably just reserve the right to terminate your account "for any or no reason" and leave it at that. Fuck big tech.

Out of curiosity, I checked their FA gallery to see just what these NSFW reference pictures are being used for, and it's all basic furry shit. I'd get suspicious if this person had a separate inkbunny account full of cub pornography, but their FA profile doesn't list an Inkbunny account at all.
