I know nothing about the seething in Argentinia right now but I swear to God it won't even come close to the seething here about the rainbow armband shitshow. This whole fucking shithole that is current day Germany is going nuts about it.

It was unironic breaking news that REWE (a supermarket franchise) ended their sponsoring contract with DFB. Fucking breaking news. Like a war broke loose or another 9/11 happened somewhere. Because a fucking company said "Nah, we not gonna give another company money anymore to get our company brand advertised everywhere". And it it's even more absurd bc the contract between REWE and the DFB would have expired in January.

During the halftime break of Mexico vs Poland they showed an interview with German coach Hansi Flick. They asked 1 question about the German team's preparation for the match against Japan, 1 question about Sane who won't be playing and then talked only about that fucking armband.

The Mexico Poland match ended, the program switched immediately to a news program and they opened it with talking about the fucking rainbow armband.

Twitter is burning bc of it. It's fucking everywhere.

Someone needs to nuke us. Please, please someone nuke us already.
 
The best part about the Qatar armband things is that the Western media are going "How exactly is this meant to make Qatar's image better to the West?", as if being able to neuter the faggotry without breaking a sweat doesn't make Qatar look like an incredibly powerful nation.

I just love how it exposes the absolute hypocrisy amongst European nations. "Why yes we'll go to this gross World Cup as long as we wear armbands that show how much we oppose it" only to just buckle silently. If they couldn't even do this without risking a yellow card + suspension then there was NO chance of them ever boycotting Qatar in the first place.

I actually love cheering against the WNT because of that shit. Especially Rapinoe, but I imagine she'll retire soon. They also have fans who can't praise the women without putting down the men even though men's and women's soccer is apples and oranges.
 
Poland just didn't look focused or prepared at all for this match against Mexico and it came across more like a closed door friendly drill at points, rather than a match in the biggest event for the sport. 5 shots in total from both teams, 2 from Poland. I can see them losing to the Saudi's in a rather lacklustre match. Mexico have it all to play for against Argentina and I am very excited for that match!
 
We may end the day with the Saudi's and Aussies top of their respective groups, with France and Argentina bottom. Argentina have Mexico, France have to deal with Denmark next. Pressure is on if things remain this way.

Fun stat: 84% of teams that win the opening match of the world cup, qualify.

All of the teams are playing like this. I feel most players are mentally checked out because they're more focused on their club seasons because FIFA are a bunch of corrupt idiots who should be in jail.
