Am I the only one who hates the VAR being used with made up dummies instead of an actual picture of the pitch? I prefer the triangle measurements to show what is offside instead of some random dude making mannequins to justify a close offside call
The France goal getting cancelled had nothing to do with weird measuring. Also it wasn't a close call. Griezman was in the offside first but yet the goal shouldn't have been cancelled bc a new situation appeared after that one Tunesian player headed the ball. When Griezman scored he wasn't in the offside anymore. He had moved back from his offside as the whole game moved on.
But overall the offside rule needs to be redone. They scraped several goals bc of "close calls" that were completely stupid.
Like when Rüdiger scored the 1:0 against Spain. It got cancelled bc part of his head and his shoulder where in the offside. That's just plain stupid. There where more goals like this in other games during the first match days, I just only remember that Rüdiger goal specifically.
Offside should be handled like when the ball is crossing the goal line. The ball has to cross the line completely and not just a bit. So it should only be offside when a player's foot is completely in the offside -or if he completely stands in the offside of course- and not just a hand or a nose. And it shouldn't just be a foot but the foot the player uses to start moving bc obviously that's the advantage he is using. When two players are on one height but the attacker's toes are in the offside they blow the goal off and that's bullshit. It punishes the attacker while giving the defender an unfair advantage.
Football is a low-score-game. We would see way more goals if they wouldn't punish everything so harsh. More goals usually means more exciting games. But at the moment they are punishing people for having body parts.
