So if things stay like they are, Mexico moves on? Seems like Argentina would have to score again and then go to yellows. Huh...

Poland have to hold this and get no more yellow cards. Then hope Saudi Arabia don't collapse. This is the chaos I crave

Mexico have spent the past 7 world cups trying to get to a fifth game. Instead they got knocked out in the group stage. At least the chaos was entertaining while it lasted. Can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store


Edit- The last time Mexico failed to qualify for the knock out stages was 1978

Anyway

Was wrong with my predictions for group C. Watched Australia - Denmark bc I expected it the more interesting game but turns out it wasn't bc France were dickheads. They were already qualified so them showing up with their B squad was just logicial. Giving them minutes on the pitch while giving your stars a chance to rest. I get it. But holy shit, what was this even? They had to bring in Mbappe and Griezman to stand a chance against Tunesia? That's not good. And yeah, Fofana won't play anymore in any game in this WC. If I would be his coach I would probably eaten his head after the game. Nevertheless France should be a candidate for the final. If they bring up their A squad.

Australia is defenitely the surprise in this group. Not that they play some exciting football -they don't- but they are doing a Greece run and I won't blame any of the smaller football nations for doing this. They used their ressources wlll and took their chances. Deserve to move on.

Denmark is a complete disappointment. In none of their 3 matches they looked good. No ideas, no creativity, no goals (well, one but fuck that). Expected them to move on as 2nd behind France.

Kudos to the Tunesian fans for celebrating after beating France and not being mad for getting kicked out despite winning. That's the spirit.

Ngl I didn't expect Saudi-Arabia do make this whole group so exciting. Just bc they won their 1st match everything was possible until the last matchday and the last minutes. Who would have expected to see Argentina nearly getting kicked out after 2 games. If only Mexico would have shown in their game against Argentina what they showed against Saudi-Arabia then Messi would have left the big stage in tears.

But Mexico deserves to go home. Overall they had only one good half in 3 matches and that was the 2nd half against the Saudis. The rest was a complete disappointment. One good half alone can't justify to move out of the group stage.

Poland did Poland things.

France - Poland will be like Argentina - Poland and in the end France will win. No way that Poland has any chance against France. Unless the French get cocky and let their B squad play again. But I doubt this. Lewandowski is one the best -and most underrated- forwards of this sport but the national team doesn't do him justice. Poland is not Bayern is not Barcelona.
My tip: a clear 2:0 for France.

Argentina - Australia will be another Argentina - Poland. Argentina will have the ball like 98% of the match. They will run attack wave after attack wave while Australia will defend with 11 men. They will get their one chance but even if they should score they won't stand the Argentinians for 90+ minutes.
My tip: 3:1 for Argentina

Belgium was less convencing than more of a disappointment so far. They wasted their golden generation and De Bruyne alone won't do it. Belgium is in the same situation like Wales (Bale), Poland (Lewandowski) and others. It's very likely that we won't see them again in the next tournament. Belgium won't win against Croatia which means Croatia and Morocco will move on. Even if Canada should win their last game.

I was willing to expect an upset win from tunisia, but not in a million years would I have expected the aussies to go through.
 
Nothing was right today, poland x argentina was shit, they didnt even play, they bet on the results and didnt even try to do shit.

France was already in the next phase and they subbed in their better players and tried to do something. But poland couldnt even attempt anything, even our pundit was shocked innhow they were "playing", to the point they literally stopped narrating the arg x pol game to narrate mexico x arabia. This was easily the worst game of the world cup so far, absolutely disgraceful.

And argies will get a easier way with the australia, so not even argies vs frenchies to sooth my soul
