I am hoping that glorious Nippon manage to qualify (it'd involve having to beat Spain most likely) but in all honesty their goalkeeper has been woeful.
He was the one who conceded the penalty against Germany by effectively tackling a striker to the ground and then conceded a poor goal to Costa Rica by being far too off his line.

I suspect it'll end up as Spain and Germany from Group E though which was what was originally what most commentators would've guessed at at the outset of the competition.

I used to think football could be a conduit for a new nationalism not just in Germany but in Europe. After all, a Euro or WC championship is the one instance you will see Germans waving the German flag. I was of course in error. Now I am torn between my support in the past and the realization that failure might be best, to spoil the distraction that such bread and circuses offer.

Regarding the game, Germany has dominated possesion and chances, but looks lackluster in the finish....
