I can't believe I'll have to watch Ireland x Latvia if I want to get my European football fix of the day.
They need to just get rid of the international break. Literally all the qualifiers could be done over the summer break. You can be done with all the qualifiers by playing the extra month and a half you get by just not doing these retarded breaks. Summer months are for international breaks and the rest of the season is with the clubs. Fucking hate this

Ahh yes, there was a time when the Qualifiers were small competitions by themselves, held within a short period of time, often one year before the World Cup proper. Groups were divided, then each group member played each other on consecutive weekends.

This is how, for example, Brazil qualified for every single World Cup. They got paired up with small potatoes like Bolivia and Venezuela, so all they had to do was beat them at home and then away. Easy peasy.

Weren't they availing the possibility for a Nations League-style competition that would determine WC participants and seeds for all continental associations?

Idk how they use to do it but with the expansion of the World Cup, there is no need to drag out all these qualifiers throughout the year. If you are going to have 8-10 games for qualification, you can play those over 5-6 weeks during the year. End the leagues and champions league by early May or start in September while playing with a month break after the season ends and giving the players a little break before starting back up. It will never happen but it should because these breaks suck ass

North Macedonia vs Malta if you want to watch low level countries...

But Italy-England is tomorrow in a friendly, might be a bit better "futbol".

Ozil has retired. I honestly forgot he was still around but there weren't many better than him in his prime.
He was at Fenerbahce for a bit but got pushed to the bench because of the same issues he was having at Arsenal. Then signed a one year deal with Istanbul Basaksehir but was hurt for all but 4 games that he barely played. Basically realized he wasn't going to be signed again and was too hurt to continue

Palace has managed to stay in the Premier league for 10 years and every one of them with more losses than wins finishing 11th through 15th all 10 years.

Praying for Millwall to make it to the Premier league.
Looking at West Ham's league position right now, it would be even funnier if they switched places with Millwall.

It would be much more difficult right now with more foreign players everywhere and you have to think of the other leagues in the southern hemisphere or where football is a summer league game. Back then you have foreigner limits so you probably lost at most three players for a certain period of time. Now teams like Arsenal and Chelsea for example will lose players for a prolonged time when the AFC, CAF, CONCACAF, or CONMEBOL are in session and they have already complained when teams lose players during the continental tournaments as well (African Cup of Nations mostly).

I mean, if you had a summer and winter break then everything is fine. Leagues just taking a break in January for some qualifiers and then having a split in mid June to mid July for international break should cover everything. Then the leagues cover the rest of the year. Would prevent stupid shit from happening like this

St. Martin vs St. Kitts ended 1:3.
1:2 after the first half. St. Kitts had a lot of chances in the 2nd half, but the St. Martin goalkeeper was pretty good. He even saved a penalty a few minutes before the end.

I like these matches. They are always very chilled and you get some decent down-to-earth football. And the players don't try to kill each other on the pity. It's a nice alternative to the usual stuff.
And I learn stuff about other countries and their leagues and shit.

Would be cool if they would show games from CAF and AFC on YouTube too.

Ok @Onni Kalsarikännit explain this right now. Why did Nagelsmann just get sacked out of nowhere?
wtf? Nagelsmann seems like a top manager. There's gotta be something going on behind the scenes here. Looking forward to hearing Onni's take.

HOLY SHIT THIS IS FUCKING HUGE!

I just looked up some German news and all the reports are from around 1 hour ago (23.30 or 11.30 pm). At this time they barely update their websites anymore unless it's something really big and important and has to do with politics or war.

Bayern paid something like 20 or 25 million EUR to get Nagelsmann from RB Leipzig. He got a 5 year contract.
He didn't even last two full seasons.

I honestly didn't expect them to kick him out during the season.
They are 1 point behind Dortmund and next weekend they play against Dortmund in Munich. So nothing ist lost in Bundesliga.
They are still competing in DFB Cup and in CL. So they could even score a tripple again.

But their Bundesliga run is indeed not as good as it should be. It's Nagelsmann 2nd season and somehow they haven't improved that much. And given their current squad Bayern should lead Bundesliga with several points ahead.
Usually Bayern has one weak period in a season but this season it's already two weak periods.
The loss of Lewandowski is somehow noticable and somehow not. So far they have scored 77 goals in 25 matches. That's ~3 per game.
But out of these 25 games they only won 15 matches. Rhat's bot good enough.

I expected Bayern to wait until the season is over. If Nagelsmann wouldn't win at least Bundesliga and DFB cup while at least reaching the CL half final they would cut ties then.

Funny how I said on Monday that now is a good moment to drop coaches and get new ones.
But I hadn't fucking Bayern in my mind when I said this lol

Edit:

My guess is that too many players were revolting. There was some talk about a lot of unhappy players in the last 2-3 weeks. Like Tell and the other new young guy, Gravenbroich or whatever his name us.
And then there is still the causa Neuer and the goaljeeper trainer who got fired.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Nagelsmann learned about his sacking the same way we did, from media reports. wtf is going on here?

Maybe they got tipped off from the press about an incoming metoo scandal? Nagelsmann seems kind of autistic to me, he could've done something weird and not even realized it. I have a hard time believing it's based off results. As you said, it could be better but they're still in all competitions and playing without a top striker for the first time in years.

If this is actually true than there really must be some bad blood involved.

It's not like that this never has happened in the past; it happened but always with coaches were it was obvious for everyone that the club bosses and the coach have severe issues with each other.

Nah, I'm pretty sure that it has nothing to do with any sort of scandal.
I guess Kahn and Salihamidzic are fearing that Bayern would perform as good as they want and as they need to do and thus just got cold feet.

Nagelsmann will get a huge amount of money. It is known that he had it included that if he should get sacked before the 1st of July 2023 (= before he fullfills at least 2 full seasons) that he will get a huge payoff. The amount is unknown though.

Bayern needs a deep run in CL bc that's were they make most of their money. I guess getting drawn to play against Man City and then losing against Leverkusen last weekend was what broke the straw for them.

Also the first news reports came from BILD and Süddeutsche Zeitung.
BILD is our biggest yellow press media. They are infamous. But they are also very well connected everywhere and have especially close ties with Bayern. Like when there is gossip to report BILD are the first who know about it and report it.

FC Bayern is also known as FC Hollywood bc of all the drama around the club and stuff.

Süddeutsche is also from Munich and a more serious mainstream news outlet. Despite veing MSM they are trustworthy. When they report something there  is something.
